Oscar was utterly shocked.

The jewelry he had bought with money borrowed from an online loan had now been reduced to worthless fragments.

And all around him, the guests burst into laughter.

"Do you know what gift Derek gave me? Look at this... a Blue Diamond from South Africa."

Geyssa wrapped one arm around Derek's muscular arm.

Then she proudly showed off her slender neck, now adorned with a sparkling necklace set with a pale blue gemstone.

A moment later, she raised her hand and displayed the diamond ring on her finger.

"Look at this. Derek proposed to me with a diamond ring worth billions!"

Without the slightest hint of guilt, Geyssa spoke casually, a bright smile on her face.

She looked happier than ever.

So this was why she had changed so quickly?

Because of these gifts?

What Oscar had seen earlier had been real.

The woman he loved had betrayed him right before his eyes.

'This is the woman I've loved and cherished for the past two years?'

Oscar could hardly believe it.

It made no sense.

Yet he remained silent.

He still respected Geyssa's parents, who were standing there.

"A gift like this is worthy of our daughter. Not that cheap necklace you brought. You can find things like that at roadside stalls."

Mrs. Mariam, Geyssa's mother, spoke with disdain.

Then she stepped on the necklace her daughter had just thrown onto the floor.

Oscar stared in disbelief.

"You...? What is the meaning of this?!"

He looked at the middle-aged woman in shock.

She had always supported his relationship with Geyssa.

Yet her attitude had changed completely.

"You need to remember who you are, Oscar. We only treated you well because we felt sorry for you. At least your reputation looked a little better because of Geyssa. If it weren't for her, you wouldn't even have gotten that job at the noodle shop."

This time it was Mr. Baskara who spoke.

His voice sounded calm and reasonable.

But every word felt like gasoline being poured onto a fire.

Oscar's blood boiled instantly.

His entire body felt hot, as though it might explode.

Wasn't that the exact opposite of what had happened?

Back then, Geyssa had been the one who approached him first.

Eventually, they started dating.

Later, Geyssa had hit a child with her car and the child ended up hospitalized.

It was Oscar who had paid the medical expenses.

It was Oscar who had compensated the child's family.

After that incident, they had become even closer.

A large portion of Oscar's salary every month went to Geyssa to support her extravagant lifestyle.

Even today's birthday celebration in this luxurious venue had only been possible because of him.

He was the one who had helped pay for the rental.

So why were they shamelessly twisting the truth now?

"Oh, so you're the one who took advantage of the situation to get close to Geyssa and date her! What a parasite! If you're poor, then get a job! Stop living off women!"

Derek immediately kicked Oscar in the chest.

Oscar's body flew backward and landed near a group of Derek's friends and Geyssa's older siblings.

"You bastard! A poor loser like you!"

"Have some shame! You even brought a garbage gift!"

"You've been freeloading off our family long enough!"

"A poor idiot like this could never be worthy of our sister!"

"What a worthless bum! Go beg on the streets!"

"Stupid beggar! Hahaha!"

The insults came together with a barrage of kicks.

Oscar did not resist.

He simply allowed them to keep kicking him.

"Cowards. All of you need a group just to fight one person."

Oscar glared at Derek with burning hatred.

Those words instantly enraged Derek.

Being called a coward by Oscar felt like the greatest humiliation.

He rushed forward and punched Oscar in the jaw.

Then he grabbed him, dragged him across the floor, and kicked him again.

"Get out of here! You disgusting poor bastard!"

The bodyguards standing nearby immediately joined in.

Together, they beat Oscar and dragged him out of the hall.

Blood trickled from his lips.

Every part of his body felt shattered.

Yet Oscar kept his eyes fixed on Geyssa.

He stared at her face for a long time.

Then he looked at her parents.

They seemed farther and farther away.

After that, he looked at each of Geyssa's siblings.

Every one of them looked satisfied.

Happy.

As if they had done nothing wrong.

And only now did Oscar finally understand.

It had taken him a long time.

Two years.

Two years of struggle and sacrifice.

Two years wasted.

That entire family wore masks.

Petty.

Deceitful.

Oscar dragged himself forward.

The pain in his body was nothing compared to the pain in his heart.

Even if he lived to be a hundred, he would never forget today's humiliation.

---

When he returned to his rented room, Oscar noticed a worn-out package lying in front of his door.

There was a label attached to it.

FOR OSCAR

The box looked so old and shabby that most people would not even want to touch it, let alone pick it up.

After cleaning himself up, Oscar lay weakly on his bed while pressing a cold cloth against his swollen jaw and split lip.

His bones felt broken.

He had no strength left.

Oscar deeply regretted the two years he had spent with Geyssa.

Even now, he was still drowning in debt because of all the money he had spent on her.

He truly had been a fool.

As Oscar reflected on his miserable situation, he suddenly remembered the worn-out package.

Moving slowly, he sat up on the bed.

He carefully opened it.

But the moment he saw what was inside, his eyes widened in shock.

"Grandpa's box?!"

Oscar frowned deeply.

He was confused and astonished.

Why had his grandfather's box been sent to him?

It was the only possession his grandfather had always kept close by his side.

A box he had guarded for as long as Oscar could remember.

It was something extremely important to him.

Here's the natural English adaptation, keeping the story intact while removing the Eastern tone and making it read like a Western urban fantasy/action novel:Chapter 15: The Secret WeaponOscar was only one man.Compared to Jinggo and his crew, he wasn't even physically imposing. Yet somehow, his strength had completely surpassed theirs. Even Jinggo's hidden weapon—a deadly star-shaped throwing blade—had been caught with ridiculous ease. What kind of power does that poor bastard have? Jinggo thought bitterly."I don't care what you think," Oscar said calmly. "I've never gone looking for trouble with any of you. As for Damar and Maruk's broken arms, maybe you should stop and think about how that happened. Did I walk up and break them for fun? It's a shame all of you have muscles the size of trucks but brains too small to understand what really happened."Oscar was tired of being treated like the villain. He wasn't the one who had started any of this. He had simply defended himself."Yo

The polished steel flashed like mirrors, reflecting danger from every direction. For a brief moment, uncertainty crept into his mind. These weren't street thugs anymore. One mistake could get someone killed.Oscar swallowed hard. Then he forced himself to focus again. To push deeper. To trust whatever power was awakening inside him.Elizabeth was standing behind him.He couldn't afford a single mistake."Close your eyes," Oscar whispered.Elizabeth obeyed without asking questions. The moment Jinggo gave a subtle signal with his hand, his men attacked. He deliberately remained silent. Jinggo clenched his jaw.The amused smile that had been playing on his lips vanished instantly, replaced by a murderous glare. Oscar's defiance had clearly pushed him too far."You had the nerve to break Damar's arm?" Jinggo growled. "Now it's your turn."Without waiting for another word, Maruk stepped forward. He launched a powerful punch with his left hand while preparing to grab and twist Oscar's arm with his right. The moment he got within range, he attacked without hesitation.Whoosh!Crack!A sharp gust of air brushed past Oscar's ear as he slipped past the punch at the last second.
