2. Hypocrites!

Oscar was utterly shocked.

The jewelry he had bought with money borrowed from an online loan had now been reduced to worthless fragments.

And all around him, the guests burst into laughter.

"Do you know what gift Derek gave me? Look at this... a Blue Diamond from South Africa."

Geyssa wrapped one arm around Derek's muscular arm.

Then she proudly showed off her slender neck, now adorned with a sparkling necklace set with a pale blue gemstone.

A moment later, she raised her hand and displayed the diamond ring on her finger.

"Look at this. Derek proposed to me with a diamond ring worth billions!"

Without the slightest hint of guilt, Geyssa spoke casually, a bright smile on her face.

She looked happier than ever.

So this was why she had changed so quickly?

Because of these gifts?

What Oscar had seen earlier had been real.

The woman he loved had betrayed him right before his eyes.

'This is the woman I've loved and cherished for the past two years?'

Oscar could hardly believe it.

It made no sense.

He still respected Geyssa's parents, who were standing there.

Mrs. Mariam, Geyssa's mother, spoke with disdain.

Then she stepped on the necklace her daughter had just thrown onto the floor.

Oscar stared in disbelief.

"You...? What is the meaning of this?!"

He looked at the middle-aged woman in shock.

She had always supported his relationship with Geyssa.

Yet her attitude had changed completely.

"You need to remember who you are, Oscar. We only treated you well because we felt sorry for you. At least your reputation looked a little better because of Geyssa. If it weren't for her, you wouldn't even have gotten that job at the noodle shop."

This time it was Mr. Baskara who spoke.

His voice sounded calm and reasonable.

But every word felt like gasoline being poured onto a fire.

Oscar's blood boiled instantly.

His entire body felt hot, as though it might explode.

Back then, Geyssa had been the one who approached him first.

Derek immediately kicked Oscar in the chest.

Oscar's body flew backward and landed near a group of Derek's friends and Geyssa's older siblings.

"You bastard! A poor loser like you!"

"Have some shame! You even brought a garbage gift!"

"You've been freeloading off our family long enough!"

"A poor idiot like this could never be worthy of our sister!"

"What a worthless bum! Go beg on the streets!"

"Stupid beggar! Hahaha!"

The insults came together with a barrage of kicks.

Oscar did not resist.

He simply allowed them to keep kicking him.

"Cowards. All of you need a group just to fight one person."

Oscar glared at Derek with burning hatred.

Those words instantly enraged Derek.

Being called a coward by Oscar felt like the greatest humiliation.

He rushed forward and punched Oscar in the jaw.

Then he grabbed him, dragged him across the floor, and kicked him again.

"Get out of here! You disgusting poor bastard!"

The bodyguards standing nearby immediately joined in.

Together, they beat Oscar and dragged him out of the hall.

Blood trickled from his lips.

Every part of his body felt shattered.

Yet Oscar kept his eyes fixed on Geyssa.

He stared at her face for a long time.

Then he looked at her parents.

They seemed farther and farther away.

After that, he looked at each of Geyssa's siblings.

Every one of them looked satisfied.

Happy.

As if they had done nothing wrong.

And only now did Oscar finally understand.

It had taken him a long time.

That entire family wore masks.

Deceitful.

Oscar dragged himself forward.

"Grandpa's box?!"
