Eleven years ago, all Thomas Brown wanted was a simple life with the person he loved. But Eleven years later, reality hit hard, life didn’t turned out the way he hoped. He had tried to make it on his own, but things didn’t work out. So he decided it was time to turn his father for help.

It was late at night, and most people had gone home. But the tallest building in Lake City the Velox Group Head quarter was still fully lit.

At exactly 9PM Thomas Brown walked into the building. Just a few steps in, a disdainful voice rang out from behind him, "Hey! Who do you think you are coming in here? If you're looking for handouts, go outside! You'll ruin our carpet, and we couldn't afford to pay for it even if we sell you!"

The woman, Emily Flores, was well-dressed and clearly annoyed. She had been forced to stay late at work, missing a movie date with her boyfriend, and Thomas showing up gave her someone to take her anger out on.

"What are you staring at, you filthy beggar?

Keep looking, and I'll poke your eyes out!"

Thomas frowned slightly. She was attractive and had a curvy figure, but her nasty attitude ruined it.

Fortunately, after eleven years of enduring hardships, Thomas had developed an incredibly resilient temperament. He took a deep breath and said, "I'm not a beggar; I'm here to see David Torres."

Emily completely ignored what he said.

"Do you even know where you are? This is Velox Group the second biggest company in the world! Look at yourself! You’re not even fit to talk to the cleaners!”

"Get lost, and stop being an eyesore!"

Now Thomas was furious.

"I'll say it again, I need to see David Torres!"

Just then, Allen Young, the company’s head of security, walked over and put his arm around Emily.

As soon as Emily saw who it was, her expression changed instantly. She sweetly leaned in, "Allen, look at this filthy beggar trying to get into our company. He's scaring me!"

Then, with a look of disgust, he waved dismissively at Thomas.

"Get out of here. You are not welcome.”

Thomas coldly glanced at the name tag on Allen’s chest. This was the security manager of Velox? If he didn't know better, he'd think he was looking at a gangster!

Over the years, what has David been up to that even his subordinates can't handle things anymore?!

"What the hell are you still doing here?

Do you want me to throw you out myself?!"

"I'm going to say this one more time!"

"I'm not here begging for scraps, I'm here to meet someone. You tell David Torres that Thomas Brown is looking for him!"

"Who are you looking for?"

Allen’s eyes widened in disbelief, then he burst out laughing, "You're looking for our Mr. Torres? The CEO?

Thomas was surprised, "David is the CEO now?"

He couldn't help but wonder to himself, wow, this old guy made it big. Just Eleven years apart, and his father has handed over all the power to him?

"Allen laughed, “You? See Mr. Torres? You don’t even know he’s the CEO. What a joke!”

Allen mocked him again and started walking off with Emily. “Let’s go see the goldfish I just bought,” he told her, completely ignoring Thomas.

Thomas pulled out his phone and called David. “Old man, it’s not that I don’t want to come back. Your staff won’t even let me in! If you’re not down here in a minute, I’m leaving.”

His voice echoed loudly through the lobby.

Allen snapped. “You’ve done it now! You’re gonna get me fired!”

He grabbed Thomas by the collar. “You want me to throw you out?”

Thomas stayed calm. “In less than a minute, you’ll be the one apologizing.”

"Apologize to you? I will show you why the sky looks so blue!" With that, he raised his fist and swung it toward Thomas's head!

"Stop!"

Just as the punch was about to land, an angry voice rang out from behind. Allen turned around and immediately released Thomas, bowing his head respectfully.

"Chairman, this man snuck into the company while I wasn't paying attention and disturbed your rest. I'll throw him out right away!"

Seeing David Torres appear, Emily Flores quickly changed her demeanor, stepping forward with a flattering smile. "Chairman, it was I who risked my safety to keep him here. Just look at him, he's acting all sneaky, he's clearly up to no good!"

As she spoke, she gave Thomas a shove right in front of David. "Why aren't you leaving yet?! If you don't get out, I'll have security take you to the police station!"

Thomas didn’t react. He just smirked.

David walked up and… bowed to Thomas.

“Young Master, you’ve been through so much.”

The room went silent.

Emily’s jaw dropped. “Y-young master?! Chairman… are you okay?!”

David shouted, "Emily Flores!"

Emily froze in fear.

“I… I didn’t mean it… I didn’t know…”

David glared at her. “Don’t apologize to me. Apologize to him.”

Allen immediately dropped to his knees.

“Young Master, I’m sorry! I had no idea. Please forgive me!”

Emily’s legs were shaking. She was terrified.

Thomas waved them off. “People like this give the company a bad name.”

David understood. He turned to his P.A. “Fire both of them. Get them out of here now!”

Later in the office, Thomas took a sip of the coffee that David had personally poured for him and sighed with satisfaction. "I haven't had coffee this good in forever,” Thomas said relaxing.

Seeing Thomas's condition, David looked worried.

"Young Master, what happened to you?

I will get a doctor here quickly!"

"It's just a minor injury, no need!" Thomas waved his hand and stated directly, "I'm here to ask for money!"

David quickly handed him a contract. “Sign this, and everything in Velox Group is yours.”

Thomas looked it over, signed, and handed it back.

David’s hands were shaking with excitement. He had waited eleven years for this moment.

Thomas raised an eyebrow. “Where’s the money?”

David’s eyes widened. He didn't have time to wait for his excitement, he needed that cash to survive!

"Alright! Alright! I'll transfer it to you right away!"

David quickly transferred it, A hundred and fifty million showed up in Thomas’s account.

“Still as generous as ever,” Thomas said with a smirk.

He stood up. “Thanks. I’ll do what I promised. But don’t bother me after this.”

David nodded. “Of course. Take your time.”

As Thomas walked out, David opened his laptop and started a video call.

An elderly man appeared on the screen.

“Sir!” David said excitedly. “The young master signed the contract!”

"Actually, Mr. Marcus is quite capable in his work, and his performance in the company has been evident. It's just that his fluctuating shares might cause some trouble for us." After saying this, Emily nervously watched Thomas' expression, afraid to make even the slightest mistake. If he got upset, her company could be taken away from her at any moment."You don't need to worry about this. You are the appointed executive director of the company, and there won't be any changes in the short term." But who could guarantee what would happen in the long run? Thomas certainly couldn't. He had his own thoughts on the matter. He was pleased to see Marcus seeking revenge and was eager to enjoy the results of that revenge.Emily picked up on Thomas's implication. The phrase "in the short term" stung her; what did that really mean? Wouldn't she lose her position as executive director and the company itself in just six months? She had initially agreed to their acquisition to help the company reac

  • CHAPTER 233

Emily had been restless ever since she learned that Marcus had returned to the company. She regretted her past decision to prioritize short-term gains, which led to the partnership with Inner Grand Corporation and effectively turned her company into a subsidiary. Now, it was hard to backtrack, so she decided to take a different approach and speak with someone higher up. She had already reassured the shareholders on her side, but now she needed to find Thomas and meet with him face-to-face. She wanted to ask him about that contract from years ago and how he had casually transferred the shares to someone else—his ex-husband, no less. As she walked into the Titanex cooperation building, she couldn't help but feel a pang of regret for choosing this place. She had completely forgotten that he still worked here. "Hello, how can I assist you today?" The receptionist at the large corporation was different—her warm and beautiful inquiry eased some of Emily's anxiety. "Hi, l'm here to se

"Have you noticed something strange? That person could be the largest shareholder now, and it won't be long before..." Samuel was quite the gossip, and the older employee next to him nodded knowingly. Everyone knew that the old man's return was no small matter, especially since he had become the biggest shareholder in the company. It was obvious what that meant."It's odd, though. Our company hasn't had any major stock sell-offs or anything. How did that person suddenly become our largest shareholder?"Becoming the largest shareholder isn't aneasy feat."Don't you know? It's Mr. Brown! He personally gave up his shares. You might not be aware of the struggles our company has faced. We were merged with another company halfway through, and our chairman is just an executive director now.""That's true. I almost forgot. After all, the Veritas Group has never really taken our little company seriously. We rarely have any contact, just a name on paper. I didn't expect their shares to pack su

Marcus nodded slightly. Adessa held back her frustration. It was clear from the start that he wasn't taking this seriously; otherwise, he wouldn't have scheduled their meeting atSuch a precarious time, leaving it open to interruptions."You see, I have other things to attend to.Let's meet again later. Don't worry, as long as you come to my side, I'll make arrangements for you," he said dismissively. The secretary noticed the tension from the conversation and wisely kept her mouth shut.Once outside Marcus's office, Adessa didn't leave. Instead, she turned and headed in another direction, toward Emily's office. As she walked through the company, she confirmed she was on the right track. As the two of them stepped outside, theyspotted the assistant. The assistant took a glance at the person behind them and noted that they looked quite decent."Hey, who's this? It can't be that Mr. Marcus wants to meet with them, right?"The secretary shot a glance at the assistant, cursing under her breath. How many more times was she going to run into this today?Adessa remained silent. As she returned to the office, it felt like she hadn't encountered anyone who recognized her; everyone was a stranger."We're in a bit of a hurry, Miss Adessa," the secretary said, gesturing for them to move along. Adessa walked past without acknowledging him. Adessa watched them leave, spitting on the ground in frustration. It was infuriating to see such petty people getting ahead. Please hold on for a moment," the secretary

Looks like being assigned to the new boss has really worked out for you," he said, his words dripping with sarcasm.
