9: Encounters with enemies from the past

That's when I focused on expanding my vision through the situation scanner that my system activated, trying to get more details about what these shadows meant. Suddenly, information began to flow more clearly in my mind: the shadows and noises we heard were the presence of more people, but they weren't just any kind of people. They were survivors, just like the boys and I were, but their attitude was completely different, they looked threatening, they didn't seem to have any desire to approach us just so that we could form an alliance and I could continue with my mission of taking them to the new world to be part of it.

“They are survivors, but they don't seem friendly, and they don't seem like they want to join us either. “Guys, keep your guard,” I warned my group, while instinctively adjusting my body to a better position where I could have a very good view of the figures moving in the gloom.

Soon, the shadows of these strangers approached closer to our location, revealing a mixture of desperation and distrust before our eyes. I can speak for my colleagues that we were all feeling that way. We were all thinking about the same thing because when those footsteps we heard began to get even closer, we decided to prepare our weapons, and in my case, my system allowed me to mentally know how much my strength percentage was at this moment, and at the same time knowing that my strength was very powerful and that it exceeded 100%, I knew then that my new system was much more than that; a system. Now, I was no longer a weakling who in high school could be bothered by the strongest and most popular people in the place, now, I beat them in everything, and how I would like to be able to meet them at this moment, because that's how I was going to get the perfect occasion for me to get revenge on them.

To my pleasant surprise, the people who had been stalking us all this time were nothing more and nothing less than my biggest enemies from high school; Alan, Dylan, Marcus and Edie. Those four characters, as long as I can remember, had always been considered the most popular in high school, since they were very attractive physically, but inside, they were demons who did not even know how to use their brains to be intelligent.

They were multimillionaires thanks to their parents, and therefore, for them to go to high school, the only interest was to be part of the American football team, to conquer and bed the most beautiful girls in high school, to buy the teachers with bribes so that they would let them pass the subjects in which they had low grades and thus not have problems with their parents, and that they would not end up punishing them too severely, and above all, they liked to bother the weakest kids in the school that were not like them, and among one of those kids, I found myself.

“Whoa, whoa, look guys who we just ran into. "Hey, Henry, we thought you had already died, because we haven't seen you since last week when we left class before all this started," Dylan commented jokingly, causing his other friends to laugh with his comment from my.

I roll my eyes, and with a sign in my hand, I try to make my friends understand that they could let their guard down, since it seemed that these kids had no way of defending themselves against an attack from a group of ten people who did. We came armed enough to face them in a fight in which we already knew who the winner was.

“No, Dylan. In case you haven't noticed, I'm alive, and I'm different, now, I'm much stronger than you. But since your brain is so slow, it seems like you really don't know anything," I said to Dylan, looking him straight in the eyes, hoping that with my answer, his brain could think and deduce what I was referring to. I was waiting for the four of them to notice my drastic and improved change in my physique.

First, the four boys stood looking at each other, and then, they turned their gaze towards me, as if they were barely managing to analyze the situation, behaving as if I had been speaking to them in another language that they could not understand. .

“Mm, well. To be honest with you, it seems that you have changed, but we don't understand one thing, how have you managed to get a body as athletic as ours if as far as everyone in high school knew, you didn't like to exercise, always You stayed stuck in the classrooms where we had classes, you never even went out at recess time to play soccer even if it wasn't with us. You were antisocial, we didn't even know that you played sports outside of high school so that now you want to become one of us," Marcus said, to a large extent, I knew that they were surprised by what they saw, and that's why they did this kind of thing of comments, but a very different thing was that they wanted to say that now, I wanted to become one of them, when, in fact, the thought of wanting to become one of them had never crossed my mind.

If I now found myself looking like this, it was rather because I had been a beneficiary of a new system that transformed my entire body so that I could survive while fulfilling my missions, because well, if I didn't find any way to survive being weak and without the necessary strength to do so, it was possible that he would not have been chosen as the last survivor who would help the non-extinction of the human race.

In this case, if I had not been selected to have been the heir to this new survival system, it is most likely that I would be out there now, wandering only with my sister and finding the right way on how to survive the end of the world. , if the earth did not explode.

“Yes, I know that, Marcus. What happens is that now I have been chosen as the last survivor, that is, I have been chosen to be the owner of a new system that has been activated in my body. This new system has given me the opportunity to obtain incredible superpowers, as well as helping me transform into who I am now. I have a group of missions that I need to fulfill, I am looking for the last survivors of the human race to take them with me to live in a new world while this catastrophe is happening. And so, I also have to face the worst enemies any of us could encounter at a time like this. “Are you willing to change your way of being to join us and go in search of a better future in the new world?” I offered to them.

I know that Alan, Dylan, Marcus and Edie were my worst enemies in high school, however, in these difficult times for humanity, the more humans I managed to rescue, the better the future would be for everyone in the new world.

I stare at the four boys who are located in front of me, and in their eyes, I can see that they are completely confused with everything I told them, they looked at me as if I were a crazy person, and then they simply laughed me without thinking about it, as if what I had done was tell them a good joke that they could laugh at.

"That? What are you all laughing at? Are they insane? Can't you show even a single sign of respect before our new God? ”One of my companions said behind my back when he heard the laughter of the idiots who were stalking us. He was Justin, a 40-year-old man who was a Christian and a faithful follower of the word of God and the Bible, therefore, since I met him, he considered me like a God when he found out that I was there recruiting people to save them from a catastrophic end.

For Justin, the idiots' mockery of my word had been in very bad taste.

“A new God? Dude, whoever you are, haven't you realized who that guy is? You are all the crazy ones, seriously, how can you believe that he is the new God? A survival superpower system? “Wow, how many marijuana cigarettes have you smoked?” Edie replied, still talking to us while he was laughing at the top of his lungs, for a moment I thought he was about to choke.

I roll my eyes, what little patience I have left with them is about to run out. And now, I find myself in the limbo of indecision, because I didn't know if the time had come to show these useless people that everything I had told them was true.
