"Umm," Christian stirred slowly, the warmth beside him far softer, and far more dangerous, than any blanket.

His lashes fluttered open, and the first thing his gaze landed on was not the pale ceiling of Rosaline’s room, but the spill of dark-black hair fanned across his bare chest had another story to remind him.

Rosaline.

His pulse quickened, she was curled into him like she had every right, her slender leg tangled over his.

The only thing covering her was his white shirt, slightly unbuttoned, the collar slipping low enough that one smooth shoulder was bare, her skin brushing against his, adding extra warmth to his body.

Christian blinked his eyes hard, almost convinced his mind was playing tricks.

Then her fingers twitched against his ribs, nails grazing him in her sleep, and he realized, this wasn’t a dream. "So, this isn't a dream!"

He had made up his mind intending to keep his distance, he remembered that.

But then…

Flashbacks came back to him, Rosaline leaning close, pressin

  • WHY WOULD MR. EDWARD’S SEAL BE HERE?

"I’m doomed," Christian sighed in frustration at their dramatic exchange of conversation.Rosaline just smiled and whispered, "You’re mine, it doesn't matter even if you're doomed...." Delphina did not leave at once. She lingered in the doorway, silk shawl sweeping the floor like a cape, her hand pressed dramatically to her heart."Oh heavens! What an adorable duo!" She grinned. "My own niece locked Sargent's heir in her bed, do you know what this means, darling? I shall have to buy a whole new wardrobe, scandal requires at least three new gowns." "Aunt Delphina!" Christian groaned, dragging the sheets higher over himself, though Rosaline sat beside him with infuriating calmness, braiding her damp hair as if she were posing for a painting."Do not ‘Delphina’ me, young man," she wagged her finger at him. "You look exactly like your grandfather did the morning after he ran away with Amelia, same ears, red as boiled lobsters! Oh, how history repeats itself.... Maybe this is in the blo

  • YOU'RE LETTING ME WIN, AREN'T YOU?

"Stubborn man? Is taking care of you, being stubborn?" Christian tilted his head, brows lifting slightly.Rosaline’s lips curled, her eyes glinting with mischief. "Taking care of me or hiding things from me, Mr. Sargent?" She suddenly leaned forward, pushing him back until he was lying against the pillows. "I... I'm not hiding anything from you," he stammered, her hair fell like a curtain around them as she hovered above him."Liar," she whispered, her hot breath brushing his cheek. "Do you know how you’ll be punished for lying?" Christian’s eyes widened, his pulse skipping a beat at her bold move. "Wh… what are you doing, Rose?" His voice cracked, while his hand instinctively went to her wrist, though he didn’t push her away.Rosaline’s smile only deepened as she pinned his hands to the bed. "Don’t you know what I’m doing? Or are you planning to play innocent till I complete everything?" "Rose…" Christian’s throat went dry as he stared up at her unbuttoning his shirt buttons.Th

  • IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE COMPANY?

"Suspect?" Andrew quietly repeated those words, "To be frank, there are many to suspect, from person to person, name to name, can't settle suspicion with one person." Kira’s eyes flickered with hesitation. "It has to be someone high up. Lower management doesn’t have this kind of access, maybe if we check deep into those lists, we can come to a conclusion about whom to suspect..." That thought twisted something inside Christian’s chest. High up meant someone close to his family, because all of those people in higher up positions weren't someone ordinary or strangers, so all of them were known and trusted by his family for so long.He masked his reaction, nodding firmly instead. "I’ll cross-check the vendor history tomorrow, maybe we can trace the original authorization.... But, I advise till we find something it's best to stay silent, don't inform to anyone for some time." Luna wasn't totally calm at the same time not anxious either, "But Chris, if we hide it for so long, do you kn

  • THAT ISN'T A CLERICAL ERROR

"Did you say anything?" Christian stared at her with a puzzled face, Rosaline shook her head, "No, nothing... Why don't you come and take some rest?" Christian got up from the laptop, and followed her, "Let's go." "Listening to me, that easily?" "Understanding you girls is too difficult," Christian huffed, "You people will complain if we men don't listen to you, and also will complain even if we don't listen, why exactly should we do?"Rosaline gently twisted Christian's ear, "No need to do anything, just act normal than the way you act sneaky all the time, you men are nothing but too cunning..." "Oh? Then why didn't you marry a woman?" Christian hissed, making her twist his ear a little more, to which Christian yelped, "ahhh, it's painful!" Rosaline raised an eyebrow, "then tell me, will you make fun of me once again?" Christian shook his head with a pout, Rosaline chuckled and let go of his ear, "enough of those dramatics, let's go and take rest." Without arguing further, Chr

  • YOU TOOK LEAVE?

"Work from home?" Edward on the other side in the call was surprised to hear that from Christian who is a workaholic, while Christian hummed with a tired face, "Yes uncle, Rose's health is not good, I'm taking care of her, right now I can't attend the company, please help me with this..." Edward smiled softly, "That's not a problem at all, take care of your wife, I'll handle everything for you." "No... No," Christian objected to his uncle handling everything, "I'll take care of it, all I need is permission to work from home, that's it." Edward tried to make Christian take proper leave, but since Christian insisted stubbornly, Edward gave up, "Fine, you can work from home, I'll make arrangements for that." "Thanks uncle," Christian grinned happily, and hung up the call.As he went to check on Rosaline, she was sleeping peacefully, without disturbing her, he sat right beside her to check her temperature, since the temperature cooled down, Christian took a breath in relief and went t
