Leeching off a woman
last update2025-10-27 14:44:25

Does this punk have a death wish or what? Everyone looked at him only to find a smug expression on his face. Did he perhaps think that this place was a roadside stall where he could get some cheap goods and flaunt his stupidity, or what?

Logan was more provoked than anyone else. Does this man know when not to step on his nerve, or does he not like the fact that he still has teeth in his mouth? Does he want to lose them or what?

“Let’s see how you’ll take the ring from me,” Logan said with a threatening tone as he sternly stared at Ethan.

Whereas, the guests already knew Ehan was broke and could afford nothing. By the time the main event commenced, they would see where he was going to hide his face. Everyone saw him as an eyesore and they began to gossip about him.

“Hello ladies and gentlemen, please take your seats as the auction is about to start immediately.”

However, just then, a man in a suit walked up to the main stage holding a mic as he addressed the crowd. He was the auctioneer/MC of the event.

As soon as everyone saw him, they knew the big event was about to start, so they moved on to take their seats at the tables quickly.

Shortly, several scrumptious meals and drinks were served to lighten the mood before the MC continued.

“Once again, let me welcome you all to such a great event. As you all know, our biggest host is none other than Mr. Orion Asher. Most of us have heard of him and surely know that these items are very genuine and of high quality.”

“Thank you all for attending; I shall now begin.”

The MC continued politely before he went on to list out the items for bidding.

“First, may I present to you the queen of hearts. A limited edition. Only five of these pieces are being produced yearly due to how hard they are to craft and the materials they require.”

As he said this, the crowd's eyes had already sparkled. Such a piece was known by everyone, and since they had seen it on the list of items, they were very expectant of it.

“The minimum bidding price is three million, while the maximum price is eight million. Gentlemen, can we begin?” He announced.

“Three point five million!”

At once someone yelled among the crowd.

“Three point seven million!” Another yelled, beating the former's price, and it suddenly became a competition.

As for Ethan, he didn’t bother about such items, as that wasn’t what he was after. He sat down at his table and was eating gently with Axel. Both of them kept discussing it as though they didn’t even attend the event to participate in the auction.

On the other hand, to show off, Logan stood up and bid on so many items just so he could give them to Amelia. So many people were jealous of this, but he didn’t mind.

However, as for Amelia, though she was supposed to be basking in pride and happiness, she was occasionally distracted by how relaxed Ethan was as he sat down there discussing with Axel, thoroughly ignoring her like she didn’t exist.

This made her increasingly uncomfortable, and she wished she could just go there and crash everything on them, but it didn’t look like it was a good time yet.

Logan also looked over and noticed Ethan wasn’t bidding on any item; he concluded that he had no money and was just using Axel's identity to show off.

“Tch! So disgusting. Leaching off a woman? That’s something I can never do!” He said in disgust before looking away.

“May I introduce you to one of our finest items, the vintage ring?” The MC suddenly said, and at once, a display glass was pushed into the venue for everyone to see.

It immediately stirred up a commotion as everyone's eyes became fixed on it. Even Ethan wasn’t exempt, as by merely looking at it alone, he could feel a deep connection to it. In fact, he swore in his heart that he was going to get it at all costs.

After a few details of the item were given, the MC then went on to give the bidding price.

“The minimum price of this item is a hundred million, and the maximum is a hundred and fifty million.”

Everyone gasped as they didn’t expect the price to be so high. So many guests who had their eyes on it began to withdraw, as such an amount was too much for them to spend. Even their annual income wasn’t up to such an amount, so they couldn’t risk using such a sum to buy a ring that might be of no use to them.

Deciding to stir up the tension since the hall was quiet and to impress Amelia, Logan stood up. The fact that Ethan still hadn’t stood up meant he was only making empty promises earlier. Now this item was going to be his.

“One hundred and sixty million.” He yelled his price so high, even above the maximum price, causing multiple gasps to fly out of almost everyone’s mouth.

While they were busy thinking of the hefty price, this man stood up and bid so high, like money meant nothing to him. Well, that was expected from the heir to the Star Crest Company. He was just too rich.

Who could dare outbid this man? No one! As silence reigned, Logan was sure that the item was now under his grasp. He became more proud and even looked towards Axel so she would see he wasn’t like Ethan, who was leeching off a woman and couldn’t even keep to his words.

However, everything crashed as a voice suddenly boomed in the hall.

“Two hundred million dollars!"

She’d splashed water on her face in the restroom, and forced down three deep breaths, and tried to convince herself she could hold the rest of the day together. Ava’s instructions echoed in her skull like a beating drum: Keep your head down. Finish your tasks. Do not attract attention. She felt like a child that was in a military home, but she knew she at the very least owed it to Ethan. He had risked a lot to s

Jason nodded. He had expected that answer from Ava. He also was not willing to take such a risk.Ava paced once, her hands behind her back. “Since Alexander doesn’t have any way to track the Young Master directly, he’ll fall back to the only lead he thinks he has.”“Axel,” Jason finished her train of thoughts.“Exactly,” she nodded.“He’ll watch her. Follow her. Use her, trying to get access to the Young Master” Ava tapped the side of her thigh anxiously, trying to find a solution. “To stop that from happening, we move her.”“We have to move her, and we have to do it immediately. Before he even gets a chance to guess where the Young Master is.”Jason frowned. “How many people are you planning to send?”“A strong extraction team,” Ava replied. “Enough cars to…”“No.” Jason shook his head sharply before she finished. “If you send a heavy convoy, Alexander will notice. And if we’re trying to keep the Master hidden from him, the last thing we need is his men following a parade of SUVs

After a while of thinking, Ava finally spoke, keeping her voice as calm as she could, trying not to make Axel panic even more.“Okay. Listen to me carefully.”Axel wiped her eyes again, trying to steady her shaking hand as she waited for the instructions..“Do not call the police,” Ava instructed. “Do not panic in public. Do not leave work early or do anything suspicious. Alexander might already be watching you.”Axel swallowed hard. “But… Ethan…”“And that is exactly why you must NOT do anything emotional,” Ava cut in. “If Alexander suspects for even a second that you are living with Ethan, he will send men to follow you home. And if they find him…”She didn’t finish the sentence. She didn’t need to.Axel felt her blood run cold.“Here’s what you’re going to do,” Ava said. “You will stay in that office and finish your work. Axel thought about ways to try to convince the cops that Alexander was going to do something terrible to Ethan, or at least he was planning to.But nothing seemed like it would make sense to them without her looking like she was trying to run Alexander’s name and reputation into the mud.She wrapped her arms around herself, pacing again, trying to think. Her thoughts spiraled, every idea she came up with collapsed and shattered against a wall of ‘no evidence’.The police wouldn’t help her. They would probably just laugh and call it a prank, or worse, they would leak it to the Cole family. She stopped pacing only to start again. She thought for a while about her options then she remembered and quickly scrolled through her contact list for Ava’s number. She couldn’t risk telling Ethan himself. She didn’t know the protocols for these things. Besides, he had gone to the office, and she didn’t know how busy he would be.She wasn’t going to risk calling and distracting him. “Let’s let Ava

With a smile on her face, Axel sat at her desk ready to see her dream come true. Her mind was already conjuring up the words that Ethan might have sent. The more she thought about it, the more she smiled. She ruffled through the bouquet for the card and her mind went wild again. The card was tucked delicately between the petals of the tulips. She pulled it free and unfolded it. ‘How did he even know about my favorite flowers?’ she thought to herself skimming through the content of the letter absent mindedly.‘Maybe he went through my social media and figured it out? Or was it Ava that did the digging for him?’She kept smiling at the thoughts she was getting, but then she realized that what she was reading wasn’t making sense. Not because it was gibberish, but because it was not resonating with anything her mind was expecting. She had been so occupied in her thoughts as she read that she didn’t even realize what she had been reading, even after reading it over and over again. She cle

  • The flower bouquet

Axel’s thoughts halted as she took a closer look at the desk, it was a flower bouquet.“How did I not notice that?” she straightened up and pulled her chair towards it.The bouquet sat there, perfectly arranged. She couldn’t think of how it was there, or who even brought it to the office. She didn’t have a personal secretary, so there was no one really taking note of who goes into her office, so she couldn’t say she would just go out and ask her secretary. She looked at the door confused, but she wasn’t frowning.“Who would have brought this in here,” she wondered out loud. The bouquet was a a mixture of daffodils and tulips. Those were her favorite flowers, and there were only a handful of people that knew that, other than her parents and a few high school friends. She didn’t realize when a smile slowly crawled on her face. She made her way out of the office to the open space with her subordinates working.“Um… Guys, can I get your attention real quick?” she said, drawing everyone’s
