Sarah stared at her face in the mirror, still not believing what she was seeing.

Her hands moved as she gently touched her smooth, white, jade-like face which had been restored.

No, this was even smoother and clearer than the past.

In just one night, he had accomplished it. The face that everyone had belittled her for five years.

Everyone had treated her like she was unworthy of living and yet, that same face she thought had no cure had been solved by this seemingly very ordinary husband of hers.

Tears streaked down Sarah's face as she touched her face gently, still not believing what was happening.

Jeremy, on the other hand, was rummaging through his bag, searching for something.

A minute later, he fished out a picture. Quickly, he stared at the picture, then raised his head and looked at Sarah.

Jeremy blinked, as he couldn't believe what he was seeing. Instantly, he rubbed his eyes and took another look at the picture, then at Sarah.

After a while, Jeremy collapsed back to the bed.

So his brother's sister was Sarah, the one whom he had come back to protect.

Also, it was the same girl who had saved him from the fire years ago.

How was he this unlucky? Her brother had died while trying to protect him.

She had also lost half of her face while trying to save him from the fire.

Were the siblings' fates so strongly intertwined with his?

First was the younger sister, then the elder brother. How was he supposed to deal with this?

Jeremy sighed then took another look at the picture in his hand. Looking at it, he frowned slightly.

Seemed like David didn't know about Sarah's face injury.

With her, Jeremy shook his head and took another look at Sarah.

Since she was the one he came for and they shared quite an interesting fate, then he would make sure to protect her all the way.

"Brother, I'm sorry, you said I should protect your sister and here I am, married to her," Jeremy chuckled, smiling bitterly as he kept the picture back into his bag.

"Jeremy," Sarah's voice came as she turned around, bowing low to Jeremy.

"Thank you for this gift; I, Sarah, would forever be grateful," she said, thanking Jeremy.

"But..."

"You gave me a new life, and also helped restore my confidence; I need to thank you," Sarah interrupted Jeremy, her voice sharp; a hint of coldness could be felt even though they were warm to Jeremy.

"Alright," Jeremy nodded, having no other choice but to agree.

"I'll go wash up now and then we'll go meet my family; you'll come along," Sarah said as she stood up, walking towards the bathroom.

Jeremy nodded once again and watched as Sarah walked into the bathroom.

He could tell that the air around her had changed. There was this crazy confidence and coldness that surrounded her now.

Unlike yesterday when all he could feel from her was a sense of distance and avoidance.

"Interesting," Jeremy clicked his tongue, also standing up from the bed.

Minutes passed, and soon Jeremy and Sarah left the room.

At the moment, Sarah was dressed in long trousers and a shirt. Her hair packed into a ponytail.

As they neared the sitting room, they heard the discussion going on.

"Grandmother, now that Sarah is married, she should hand over the company to me, right?" A male voice spoke; the sinister intent in them could be felt.

"Yes Mother, let her hand over the company. Besides, she hasn't left the house in weeks and the company needs someone who could visit constantly." Another female voice added, agreeing with what the male had said.

"Yes, that's true; I heard many of our partners and potential clients had all been chased away due to her face."

"If this keeps on going, we'll definitely lose everything."

"Yes Grandmother, let us get her to hand over the company; this way, we can continue to work smoothly and then the Raven family would be able to help us even more," the male voice that spoke first said again, while the others seemed to say something in agreement with him.

"Alright, don't worry, I'll get someone to call her over," An old feminine voice responded while everyone laughed happily, seemingly pleased by the development.

"Call one of..."

"There's no need for that, I'm already here," Sarah interrupted, walking directly into the sitting room.

The instant she walked in, everyone froze and their gazes turned onto her.

"Grandmother, here she is...." The male figure, Denis, spoke, turning to Sarah but froze, his eyes nearly bulging out of their sockets.

"Sarah, your... your face... face..." He stuttered, pointing at Sarah's face.

"What's wrong with her..." Mabel, the grandmother, an old woman who held a walking stick as she sat, also froze; her eyes nearly bulging out of their sockets.

The other family members present at the moment also noticed Sarah's face. And their eyes nearly popped out of their sockets.

After a long while, they slowly came back to their senses as they stared at Sarah.

Her face was healed and she even seemed far more beautiful than she was in the past.

"Sarah, what happened to your face?" Mabel finally asked as she came back to her senses.

The changes were too fast. Just yesterday, half of Sarah's face was still largely disfigured and yet this morning, it was all gone as if she never had that accident. What the heck was happening?

"All thanks to my husband; he was the one who healed me," Sarah smiled, pointing at Jeremy who was standing by the side.

Instantly, all eyes landed on Jeremy, but the next second, all that were filled in them was nothing but disgust. Just an illegitimate son? Who the heck did he think he was?

If it were not for the fact that he had the Raven family blood, they would have long kicked him out.

"Sarah," Mabel spoke, her voice slowly

becoming serious as she looked at her.

"Divorce him!"

Jeremy raised his brows, looking at Jasper."Yes, sir; don't you know, it was his granddaughter the government hired us to save," Jasper answered, nodding."But since you didn't come with us, he didn't see you, so he didn't know who you were," Jeremy carried on."Also, he's the head of the Ravencroft family, Jacob Ravencroft.""Oh," Jeremy nodded and then turned away, letting Jasper ask the old man what he wanted to.Jacob, on the other hand, felt his heart was about to burst out of his chest.Th

So he had no other choice but to keep wearing it."Besides, I got married yesterday," Jeremy added, a grin spreading onto his face."Married?" She frowned, her expression already darkening like the cloud."I said divorce him," Mabel repeated, not caring about the frown etched on Sarah's face."Why?" Sarah questioned, her fist clenched tightly as she stared at her grandmother."Because I said so," Mabel snorted, her voice cold as she stared back at Sarah."I'm sorry, I can't," Sarah refused, shaking her head."How dare you disobey me?" Mabel's brows narrowed as she stared at Sarah."He's just an illegitimate son of the Raven family, destined never to achieve anything in this life," she scoffed, her gaze landing on Jeremy."Divorce him and get married to Kelvin instead; that way the bond between our families would become even stronger," she urged, her tone laid with urgency."I'm sorry, but I can't do that," Sarah refused, shaking her head, her voice firm, leaving no room for arguments."What exactly do you see in a loser like him, huh?"
