Sarah's expression changed the moment she heard this. How could she bear to accept this bet?

It was all a trap and she knew it. Mr. Jian of the Bai family was not someone who was easy to meet or please, not to begin talking about matters of investment.

"Are you going to accept it or not?" Denis's mocking voice came, pulling Sarah back to her senses.

"Fine..." Sarah bit her lower lip, her hands clenched into a fist; a flash of determination rose in her eyes.

Jeremy had restored her face and given her a new life. Even if she had to crawl to hell, she would be willing. She couldn't allow her family to get what they wanted.

When she was disfigured, they were the same set who had nearly forced her to despair, and now they wanted her to abandon the only man who didn't mock her and even helped her.

The liquid he had used on her—who knew how much it had cost? She knew money couldn't buy something like that.

Besides, she had three days to prepare. With her capabilities, she was sure she would be able to get Mr. Jian to invest.

"What are you doing?" Jeremy whispered, his expression darkening, seeing that Sarah accepted the bet.

"Don't worry; I know what I'm doing," Sarah whispered back, her gaze now on Denis, holding a flash of determination.

"Good, good," Denis burst out laughing, clapping as he stood up.

"Best of luck, sister," he added, walking towards Sarah.

"Whatever," Sarah scoffed and stormed out of the house, pulling Jeremy with her.

"You didn't have to do that, you know?" Jeremy raised his brows, staring at Sarah the moment they stepped out of the villa.

"I had to," Sarah shook her head, the determination in her eyes still unwavering.

"If I didn't, they were going to force me to divorce you and I couldn't accept that," she continued while clenching her fist.

If only her brother were here. Then no one in the family would be able to force her to do what she didn't want.

"But..."

"It's fine, Jeremy; I'm sorry for dragging you into this," Sarah interrupted Jeremy, her expression turning serious.

"Don't worry; I have a plan to ensure that Mr. Jian invests in the company," she added, her voice brimming with confidence.

Jeremy raised a brow, staring at Sarah. At first, he couldn't help but find it funny.

Nobody between the heavens and the earth could force him to do what he didn't want to, not to talk of divorcing his wife.

"I'll be heading to the company now; will you come along?" Sarah turned back to Jeremy, asking as she walked towards one of the cars parked in the garage.

"I..."

"It's fine; I understand," Sarah interrupted once again, seemingly understanding the reason for Jeremy's hesitation.

"Here, take this card," she said, handing a bank card to Jeremy.

"Password is six zeros; you can get whatever you want," she added as she got into the car.

"Also, let me have your number; I'll send you my address; I don't normally live in this villa; I only came back yesterday because of the wedding."

Nodding, Jeremy took out his phone and glanced at the battered phone in his hand. He had been using it for years. With everything that had happened in the wasteland, replacing it had never crossed his mind.

"Here, you can have mine," Sarah took out a brand new phone, handing it over to Jeremy after seeing how old his phone was.

At the same time, she couldn't help but sigh deeply in her heart. Who knew what he had gone through in the wasteland?

For him to be able to come back alive, who knew just how much torture he had to endure.

Thinking about all these made her blood boil. At the same time, determination also rose in her heart.

No matter what was going to happen, she was never going to let her family win this bet.

She would make sure to secure his place by her side. Because she knew.

That medicine of his—if he had used it to curry favor from some other families, he would have made it straight to the top at once.

Yet, he didn't do that and chose to treat her instead.

"But it's yours," Jeremy muttered, feeling rather confused, staring at the phone, his voice pulling Sarah back to her senses.

"Just take it; I can always buy another," Sarah answered, shoving the phone into Jeremy's hands.

"Here's my number; call me when you've set up the phone; I'll send you my address then." She concluded, giving Jeremy a paper, then started the car and drove off before he could say anything.

Seeing this, Jeremy chuckled and shook his head. He had totally forgotten about the phone. Though he would have changed it, he wasn't expecting her to give him a new one.

Also, she gave him money. Seemed like she wasn't as bad as he thought she was. At least she knew how to appreciate favors.

With that, he walked out of the garage and pulled out his phone, dialing a number.

"Sir," a hoarse voice came from the other end of the phone.

"Do you happen to know someone called Mr. Jian of the Bai family?" Jeremy asked directly.

"Yes, sir; he was the one who was being held prisoner and his family had begged us to go rescue him," the voice answered.

"Good," Jeremy chuckled, a glint flashing in his eyes.

"Tell him to come see me; I have something to say to him," Jeremy responded, the smile on his face widened.

"Also, come pick me up; I'll send you my address."

"Understood," the voice at the other end responded and the call ended.

Minutes later, a luxury car pulled up before Jeremy and a figure alighted from the car.

"Sir, Mr. Jian said he'll be here soon. Also, he had booked a private room in Enchanted Plate; we should wait for him there," the figure, Jasper, spoke as he approached Jeremy.

"Alright, let's head there," Jeremy agreed and got into the car.

Just as the car drove away, Denis also stepped out of the house, his brows furrowed.

He had witnessed the whole thing, but he didn't hear the discussion.

Who the hell came to pick up Jeremy?

As he thought about it, an evil smile rose on his lips while he glanced down at his phone. He had taken a picture of the moment

Jeremy got into the car. It would come in handy later.

Jasper chuckled lightly, staring at Jeremy, who was sitting relaxed on the sofa. They had gotten to the restaurant and were now waiting for Mr. Jian."And they feel so darn uncomfortable," Jeremy rolled his eyes, looking down at the suit on his body.He hadn't exactly changed since yesterday. He didn't really have any spare clothes. The Raven family had made sure to throw the one he wore the day before away. So he had no other choice but to keep wearing it."Besides, I got married yesterday," Jeremy added, a grin spreading onto his face."Married?" Mabel's brows narrowed as she stared at Sarah."He's just an illegitimate son of the Raven family, destined never to achieve anything in this life," she scoffed, her gaze landing on Jeremy."Divorce him and get married to Kelvin instead; that way the bond between our families would become even stronger," she urged, her tone laid with urgency."I'm sorry, but I can't do that," Sarah refused, shaking her head, her voice firm, leaving no room for arguments."What exactly do you see in a loser like him, huh?"
