Julian Cole arrived with twelve boats, two contract breakers, and a banner too large for the Dead Sea wind.

He came at noon, when public channels were busiest. That was Richard’s hand. Witnesses could become weapons if controlled early.

The North Sea Kingdom had seven people, one floating foundation, a damaged fence, and three working traps.

Ethan had also prepared the battlefield.

He moved the visible route markers the night before. The safe approach still existed, but the obvious path now crossed a shallow reef lined with shell spikes and storm-rope snares.

Mira watched from the dock. “He brought more than hunters.”

“He brought an audience.”

Julian’s lead boat stopped outside beginner-protection range. He wore polished armor that had never met a crab claw. His hair was perfect despite the salt wind.

A public broadcast shell floated over his shoulder.

“Dead Sea occupants,” Julian announced. “I am Julian Cole of the Cole Group. Your so-called North Sea Kingdom is under investigation for theft of family-linked assets, illegal use of sovereign titles, and malicious attacks on rescue personnel.”

Mira whispered, “He lies smoothly.”

Ethan stepped onto the floating foundation. He wore patched cloth, serpent-scale bracers, and no crown.

The broadcast shell turned toward him.

Julian’s face changed.

“You,” Julian said softly.

Ethan opened his own public channel. Ancient concealment still hid him by default. He disabled the mask.

[Founder identity revealed: Ethan Cole.]

“Cole?”

“Julian’s brother?”

“Dead Sea founder is Ethan Cole?”

Richard’s private line flashed and was ignored.

Victoria’s name appeared in a silent watcher list. Ethan saw it and felt the old wound go cold.

Julian recovered loudly. “Impostor. Ethan Cole lacks authorization to represent our family.”

Ethan’s voice stayed even. “I do not represent the Cole family. I survived it.”

Julian pointed at the core shelter. “Seize the stolen core. Disable the settlement. Do not strike residents unless they interfere.”

Beginner protection still blocked direct attack by survivors on the territory core. That was why Julian had brought contract breakers.

They used legal artifacts to challenge ownership access, not damage it. Expensive. Dangerous. Richard had approved real money.

[Hostile contract interference detected.]

[Beginner protection contested.]

Ethan had expected one breaker, not two. The pressure hit harder than planned. The core flickered.

Mira looked at him. “Now?”

“Not yet.”

Julian’s boats advanced along the false safe path.

The first snare caught the third boat. Storm rope tightened around its underside and dragged it sideways. The boat struck the reef and stopped hard.

Mira raised her hand. Lani and Sera pulled hidden lines from behind the dock. The tide fence opened in one place and discharged stored eel energy through the shallow water.

A flash ran under Julian’s front boats.

Julian stayed dry on the lead boat and snarled. “Push through!”

Ethan fed the Storm Anchor the remaining Black-Tide remnant he had saved for this moment.

[Storm Anchor surge available.]

The Dead Sea rose in a controlled swell just inside the expanded boundary edge. The floating foundation lifted. Julian’s boats outside the boundary dropped into the trough that followed.

“Now,” Ethan said.

Mira threw the harpoon cord to Ethan. He tied it to the Storm Anchor ring and hurled the harpoon into the broadcast shell’s support frame.

The cord tightened. The public shell swung away from Julian and toward the contract breakers.

Everyone watching saw the gray rods, the interference field, and the Cole banner behind them.

Ethan spoke clearly. “Cole Group is attempting to break a beginner-protected territory on public record.”

“Contract breakers confirmed.”

“That’s illegal in our zone guides.”

“Not illegal, just expensive and ugly.”

“Cole uses breakers on day three?”

Public pressure struck exactly where Richard hated pain: reputation.

Julian knew it. His face twisted.

“Cut the broadcast!” he shouted.

Mira had already moved. She and Lani released the second trap: the serpent-scale glare panel. Sun and blue core light flashed across polished plates. The lead boat’s rowers flinched blind.

Ethan jumped from the floating foundation to the dock stump, then to the reef edge. Risky. Necessary.

A Cole fighter lunged with a spear from a boat. Ethan caught the shaft under his arm, let the thrust carry forward, and yanked. The man fell into shallow water. Mira pinned him with her spear point without stabbing deep.

“Stay down,” she said.

The first contract breaker changed targets and aimed a rod at Ethan.

Pain clamped around Ethan’s chest seal. The artifact tried to identify him through old family bloodline permissions.

Victoria’s preparation. Even in this life, she had left hooks in the family registry.

Ethan staggered.

Julian saw it and smiled. “There. You are Cole property before you are anything else.”

Ethan pressed one hand to the North Sea Kingdom core token at his belt.

“Wrong order.”

[North Sea Kingdom Founding Law 4: No bloodline claim supersedes voluntary citizenship or founder ownership.]

It was a small law from a small settlement. Alone, it could not beat a Cole registry.

But the Blue Dragon Seed Core recognized founder intent. The Storm Anchor recognized defended territory. Seven recruits had signed contracts under that law structure.

The pressure on Ethan vanished.

Mira drove the butt of her spear into the breaker’s wrist from the side of the reef. The rod fell into the sea.

[Hostile contract interference repelled.]

[North Sea Kingdom legitimacy increased.]

Julian’s larger force still outnumbered them. Several boats remained intact. If he committed fully, people would be hurt.

But he had lost the clean story, the first clash, and the contract advantage in front of thousands.

Richard’s voice came through Julian’s shell, cold enough to carry. “Withdraw. This field is no longer favorable.”

Julian shook with rage. “Ethan!”

Ethan stood on the reef, bruised and breathing hard. “Go home, Julian.”

“This is not over.”

“No,” Ethan said. “It starts now.”

The Cole boats withdrew slowly, dragging damaged hulls and wounded pride. Ethan did not chase. He had water to repair, people to count, and a kingdom still small enough to drown.

But he kept the public channel open.

Mira stood beside him. Lani, Sera, Tomas, and the others gathered behind the fence. None knelt. All listened.

Ethan looked into the broadcast shell and let Victoria, Richard, Julian, and every watching survivor hear him.

“I am Ethan Cole, founder of the North Sea Kingdom. The Cole family tried to murder my future, steal my core, and break my people under contracts. From this day forward, the North Sea Kingdom recognizes the Cole family as an enemy power.”

He raised the torn Cole banner they had taken from a wrecked boat and threw it into the black water.

“The North Sea Kingdom declares war on the Cole family.”

A paid contract hunter. He raised a speaking shell. “Dead Sea survivor. Cole Group offers rescue and patronage. The sky turned green before noon.Ethan stopped repairing the south fence and looked east. Impossible.”“Cole Group offers protection contracts for useful information.”Cole influence had entered the sea world faster than he remembered. Richard always moved early when rankings appeared. In the first timeline, Ethan had been too poor to notice.Mira leaned over his shoulder. “Cole Group. Related to you?”“Worse than monsters, because monsters admit what they want.”A small raft drifted outside the boundary. Two boys and one girl stood on it. All eighteen. All wet, hungry, and armed with sharpened poles.Their leader raised both hands. “We don’t want trouble. We want water. Trade.”Mira whispered, “The rear one is hiding a hook rope.”Ethan saw it.
