I hadn't noticed it approaching, and now the vehicle sat idling, matching my pace as I walked.

I stopped, a chill creeping up my spine. Who could this be? The window on the passenger side rolled down slightly, revealing a man in a suit. His face was shadowed, but his voice was clear and authoritative.

"Jason Walker?"

I tensed. "Who are you?" I asked looking around to make sure I was safe. I had heard lot of young kids being taken away and whisked into some part of the country to be used as either a sec slave or an houseboy. I wasn't going to be added to the chart.

"We need you to come with us," the man said calmly, his tone leaving little room for argument.

I took a step back, my eyes narrowing. "And why would I do that?"

The man didn't answer. Instead, the back door opened, and two more men stepped out, dressed in similar dark suits. They moved toward me with an unsettling calmness.

"I'm not going anywhere with you," I snapped, my fists clenching. "Who the hell are you?" I shouted trying to create an attention for myself.

The men exchanged glances but remained silent. My pulse quickened as they stepped closer. Something about them felt off—too professional, too poised. They weren't regular thugs, but they definitely didn't have good intentions.

I backed away, my heart racing. "I said I'm not going anywhere with you!"

One of the men lunged forward, grabbing my arm in a vice-like grip. Instinct took over, and I twisted, using the adrenaline coursing through me to break free. My other fist shot out, connecting with the man's jaw, sending him stumbling backward.

But the men didn't fight back. Instead, the one I had hit wiped his mouth with the back of his hand and nodded to the others. "He's putting up a fight. Grab him."

My breath hitched. They weren't retaliating—not like normal attackers. It was as if they were under orders not to harm me. But that didn't mean they wouldn't force me into the car.

Two more grabbed me, holding my arms as I struggled. Despite my best efforts, they were stronger and more coordinated. One twisted my arm behind my back, forcing me toward the open door of the car.

"Let go of me!" I shouted, my voice raw with anger.

But they didn't let go. With one final shove, they pushed me into the back seat and slammed the door shut. My heart pounded in my chest as the car sped off, leaving the quiet street behind.

My head spun as I tried to figure out who they were. I racked my brain—had I crossed someone without realizing it? I wasn't involved in anything shady, so why would someone want to abduct me? And why didn't they fight back when I resisted?

The car cruised smoothly through the city streets, heading toward a part of town I had never seen before. The buildings grew taller, the streets wider, and the wealth more apparent. After what felt like hours, they pulled up to a massive estate, its gates looming high with intricate designs. Security guards stood at attention, and the car was waved through without question.

My confusion deepened as we approached the house. It wasn't just large—it was luxurious. The kind of mansion that belonged to the city's elite, with sprawling gardens and fountains. The car pulled up to the grand entrance, where more guards stood waiting.

"Get out," one of the men said, opening the door.

I hesitated but realized I didn't have much of a choice. I stepped out, feeling the cool evening air hit my face as I took in my surroundings. The mansion in front of me was unlike anything I had ever seen—its towering columns, gleaming marble steps, and expensive sculptures screamed wealth and power.

I was led through the front doors, the interior of the house even more extravagant. The floors were polished to a mirror-like shine, chandeliers hung from the ceiling, and expensive artwork lined the walls. Whoever lived here had money—serious money.

"Why am I here?" I demanded, my voice echoing in the grand hallway.

None of the men answered me as they escorted me through the mansion, their footsteps barely making a sound on the pristine floor. My anxiety grew with each step, my mind racing with possibilities. Was this some kind of ransom? But why would anyone think I was worth something? My family wasn't rich, and I hadn't done anything to attract the attention of someone like this. My mind went back to what happened in the school and my heart beat increased.

"Could it be that Ethan has called his father?" I asked myself and I got scared again.

They finally led me to a large sitting room, where an older man sat in a high-backed chair, staring out a window. His posture was rigid, his hands clasped in front of him. I could only see the back of his head, his silver hair neatly combed.

The guards left the room without a word, leaving me alone with the stranger.

"Who are you?" I asked, trying to keep my voice steady.

The man didn't answer right away. Slowly, he stood up, turning to face me.

My breath caught in my throat. The man's face was lined with age, his eyes sharp and calculating. But it wasn't his appearance that shocked me—it was the way the man stared at me, as if he had just seen a ghost.

"You," the man said, his voice trembling slightly. "You look exactly like him."

"Like who?" I asked, my confusion growing by the second.

The man took a step closer, his eyes never leaving my face. "Your father."

I blinked, the words hitting me like a punch to the gut. My father? What did this man know about my father?

I kept my gaze on the student standing across the hallway, a flicker of recognition in my eyes. The boy seemed ordinary enough—tall, slender, wearing a faded school uniform—but there was something in the way he stared at me, an intensity that made me uneasy. Was he the one sending those cryptic messages? Before I could approach him, the boy turned on his heel and disappeared into the crowded hallway. I felt a surge of frustration. I was surrounded by people, yet I felt like I was being isolated in this game Ethan was playing. I knew I needed answers, and fast. As I stepped out of the school building, I received another message from the unknown number. [Unknown Number: Meet me at the old café on Elm Street. If you want to know what Ethan's really planning, come alone.] My jaw clenched. I couldn’t ignore this message; whoever this person was, they seemed to have insights into Ethan’s moves. I quickly flagged down a cab, my mind racing with questions. Could this be another trap? Was

I walked back home feeling assured. I knew I had won over the school authority, and Ethan was losing his grip. My mind went back to the harmonious message I had gotten back at school. My mind was a whirlwind of what Ethan might be hiding. My mind went back to the black card my grandfather had given me. I removed it from my pocket and stared at it. "I need to see more of what you can do," I said with a smirk on my face. I decided to get more dresses. It was high time I lived up to the standard of my family. After all, I was a Carter. As I walked out of the school premises, many of the students looked at me. Some were still in shock and didn't understand how I had managed to turn my fate around. Many whispered and said I was a liar and only time would tell. I was about to flag down a cab when a black limousine appeared right in front of me. The men in suits got down as usual, and the butler ran towards the door with it opened. They all had their heads bowed in unison as they formed

I stood still, looking at the stunned reactions from the crowd after revealing my true identity as the lost son of the Carters. My transformation from a nobody to someone of immense wealth was written on every face around me. But while the revelation had shaken everyone, I knew I wasn't done proving myself. I could sense the silent challenge that still hung in the air—a challenge from Ethan, who wasn't ready to admit defeat just yet. "He can't be? Is he really the lost son of the Carters?" One of the students asked while the others immediately pressed their phones to look it up online. Linda, on the other hand, kept her gaze fixed on me and noticed there was something off about me. I was having this assurance, this backing, like I could do anything and everything I wanted to. She still didn't believe how a boy who had nothing yesterday could suddenly be able to transfer a huge amount of money into the school account, buying himself a spot in the elite world. She knew it was too lat

My fingers shook slightly as I entered the last digit of the activation code. The whole school still stood in tense silence, their mocking expressions frozen in place. The system loaded for what felt like an eternity, and finally, the screen displayed a new message:[Card activated successfully]My pulse quickened. I felt a rush of hope rising in my chest, pushing back the lingering echoes of Ethan and Linda's cruel laughter. With renewed determination, I initiated the transfer again, my eyes focused on the screen."Here we go again," Ethan scoffed, rolling his eyes. "What's the matter, Jason? Can't you just admit you've lost already? Save yourself the embarrassment."Linda smirked, her phone still recording every moment. "This is getting sad, Walkers. You really think you're going to get a different result this time?" She said with determination in her eyes.I ignored their taunts, my focus entirely on the screen in front of me. I could feel the tension in the air as the students wat

The tension in the hallway thickened as Ethan's smug grin deepened, his words sending a ripple of excitement through the gathered students. I paused, my thumb hovering over the screen. I glanced at my grandmother, her fragile form trembling, her tear-filled eyes silently begging me to reconsider. But I had gone too far to back down now. My pride—and my grandmother's dignity—were at stake."More interesting, huh?" My voice was low, filled with barely contained fury. I straightened, turning my cold gaze toward Ethan. "Alright. What's your game, Matthews?"Ethan wiped the blood from his lips, his smile never faltering despite the pain. "Simple. If the transfer fails, you strip down and run around the school naked. And don't worry—Linda here will make sure it's all recorded for posterity." He gestured to Linda, who was grinning wickedly, her phone still recording every second of the encounter. She was ready to make me a laughing stock for the whole school.Gasps echoed through the crowd.

The hallway was awfully quiet, save for the sound of heavy breathing and the distant murmur of students watching the spectacle unfold. I stood there, fists clenched, my heart pounding as the director released his grip on my arm. I could feel everyone's eyes on me, the weight of their judgment, the sharp sting of their whispers. I now looked like the villain while Ethan was in his exact position.Ethan lay sprawled on the floor, still groaning, holding his bloodied face. Linda knelt beside him, casting hateful glances at me, her phone still in hand, capturing every moment of my outburst. My grandmother, frail and trembling, stood to the side, her tearful eyes pleading with me, but I couldn't meet her gaze. I had lost control, and the consequences were about to catch up with me."Well, well," the director sneered, straightening his suit and eyeing me with a mix of contempt and satisfaction. "What do you have to say for yourself now, Jason? After attacking another student again, you've m
