As more memories poured into his mind, the golden book shrank and became smaller and smaller. The pain in Rhys head did not reduce as more information appeared in his mind, he kept bleeding from his seven orifices, fell to his knees but his hand wasn’t released from the book, it was stuck like a glue.

At some point, Rhys could no longer take the pain anymore and directly passed out. This didn’t stop the process but instead sped it up. It felt like days but in reality, minutes has just passed. The book shrank until it completely disappeared, Rhys was motionless in the ground, only the rise and fall of his chest was an indication that he was still alive.

When he eventually opened his eyes, Rhys was no longer in a foggy area, instead he was in a garden; it didn’t seem like a typical garden, at a glance, he could tell that it was an herb garden. “Nine petal orchid, seven colored lotus, ginseng plant- huh?” He was surprised when he realized that he could list some of the herbs in the garden. He found his mind filled with a lot of details about plants and flowers and how he could make elixirs from even the most basic plants. There were a lot more but he wasn’t ready to delve into it.

Rhys was filled with glee, he recalled the pain he had felt earlier and agreed that going through that pain for the information in his mind was perfectly justified. The scent of the blend of herbs made him feel somewhat revitalized.

“Huh?” He looked up ahead see a seven layered pagoda. Curiosity kills the car but still, Rhys wanted to know what was in the pagoda so he carefully made his way out of the herb garden, he soon realized that it was bigger than imagined and filled with a lot of ‘treasures'. His eyes twinkled at the thought of how rich he could be if he sold a few stalks of the herbs.

When he arrives before the pagoda, information’s about it appeared in his mind, this time he felt no pain from it. It was a seven layered pagoda, it was far from ordinary. Seven forms, seven functions. Healing, Speed, Stealth, Protection, Time, Strength, and Space. Each function would be activated when he was deemed strong enough by the pagoda and unfortunately, all it could offer at that moment was basic healing.

Rhys currently only had access to the first floor, even if he tried, he couldn’t gain access to the other floors. Rhys contemplated for a bit before pushing open the door but as soon as he touched the door, he appeared inside a room where there was a pool of water, it could be considered a lake.

He carefully walked towards it, “So what am I supposed to do next?”

As answer, he heard a scream out if nowhere. “MASTER!!” A young boy of about five appeared in front of him and hugged his legs tightly, Rhys looked at him in shock and tried to break free but he couldn’t , the boy only held on tighter and started to cry. “Master, you are finally here. I missed you.”

“Huh? Who are you?” Since he couldn’t free himself, Rhys was forced to ask.

The boy cried harder, he rubbed his snort on Rhys clothes. “Master wants to leave me again, I would be good. Don’t leave me.”

Rhys was conflicted, he had no idea what to do. “I won’t leave you, why don’t you stop crying.”

“Really? Do you promise?” The boy raised his head to look at Rhys. Rhys was able to get a better look at the boy, he was short and chubby with a cute face and clear eyes, it was void of any malicious intent and filled with childlike innocence.

“I promise.” Rhys nodded.

“Thank you Master.” The boy wipes his eyes before smiling.

“Who are you and why do you call me master?”

The boy looked around the hall for a while before answering. “I don’t know my name but all I know is that you’re my master and you just promised not to leave me.”

“Who are you?”

“I am the spirit of this place, I take care of the herb, I clean the pool- huh, it’s smaller,” The boy pointed at the lake sized water. “ I also do other things that I don’t remember, I was sleeping when I sensed your arrival Master.”

“Do you know why I’m here?”

“Because you are master. This is a space” The boy answered innocently.

“A space?”

“An interdimensional space.”

“But why am I the master?” Rhys let out a sigh.

“It chose you,” The boy blinked his eyes.

Rhys wasn’t ready to banter with the kid. “Why don’t I give you a name, what about Rio?”

“I like it.” Rio clapped his hands before yawning.

“I think you need more sleep, Rio.” Rhys chuckled a little.

“That’s what it tells me,” Rio replied, he didn’t bother to explain what he meant. “Master you should take a swim in the tiny pool,” he sneered at the lake’s direction. “I would find out why it became so small.”

“Uh, okay. How do I leave here?”

“Master do you want to leave me?” Rio’s eyes pooled with unshed tears.

“I have to leave soon but I promise to get you something when I return.” Rhys tried to coerce him, he felt guilty that he would be leaving Rio all alone.

“Okie dokie,” Rio raised a thumb, the tears in his eyes disappeared, leaving Rhys exasperated. “Master I’m going to take a nap.”

Without waiting for Rhys response, Rio laid on the ground and started snoring lightly. “That was fast.” Rhys glanced at him and back at the lake, he had questions that he would like to ask Rio since he was the spirit of the space. He started walking towards the lake. “Well, here goes nothing.” He dived in.
