“Huh?”

Everyone in the vicinity froze hearing what Logan said. Then they stared at Julian while also stepping backwards, wondering if something was wrong with his brain.

He dared to steal from the Browns? Did he even know what he was doing? Was he in his right senses? That didn't seem to be the case; else, he wouldn't have stolen from the Browns under any circumstances.

“Julian, you're so disgusting. How dare you steal? I'm disappointed in you.” Lyra shook her head, disappointment written all over her face.

“Disappointed in me?” Julian mused, staring at Lyra, mockery and disdain written all over his face.

“Do we have anything to do with each other, or are you just being so delusional?”

“Besides, I didn't steal it; one of the Browns gave it to me,” Julian added with a shrug.

“Impossible!” Logan countered almost immediately, staring at the card in his hands.

“You must have stolen this card; there's no way the Browns would ever give away this card,” Logan sneered, glaring at Julian.

“This is an exclusive Black Card, belonging only to the Brown family; the crest here proves that,” Logan continued, pointing at a silver crest embedded in the card, just at the top right edge.

He had seen this card once. When his father was running low on funds and desperately needed money. The Browns had helped his father, returning a favor his father once rendered to them.

The card his father was given was exactly like this. So he firmly believed Julian had stolen the card.

“Give me back the card; I don't have time to play around with you,” Julian frowned slightly, stretching out his hands to take the card from Logan.

“You bloody thief, you still want to escape after committing such an atrocity? I'll never let you go,” Logan scoffed and yelled at the top of his voice.

“Guards, come and hold down this thief who dared to steal from the Browns,”

“And you,” he turned to the cashier, whose face was now pale with fear, her hands shivering as she stared at Logan. She couldn't believe she had almost cashed out something that was stolen.

She would have gotten involved if Logan had not happened to be here. She was just a small cashier and was barely making ends meet by working here. How would she be able to survive if she were to offend the Browns?“

“Hurry and inform the manager; tell him you've caught a thief who stole from the Browns,” Lucien's voice came, pulling the cashier out of her thoughts.

“There's no need to call me; I'm already here.” A hoarse voice came as a short, chubby figure in glasses with a round belly walked into the scene.

“Mr. Jude, here you are.” Logan's eyes lit up upon seeing the man, and he instantly walked up to him, a wide smile spreading on his face.

“What's going on here?” Jude asked, his hoarse, thick voice reverberating throughout the place.

“Mr. Jude, I've helped you catch a thief,” Logan hurriedly explained; the smile on his face got wider with each second.

“A thief?” Jude frowned slightly, wondering what Logan was talking about.

“Yes sir,” Logan nodded hurriedly.

“That criminal over there tried to cash out the money from this card,” Logan continued, pointing at Julian.

“But I was quick to realize there was no way he would have so much money, so I quickly intervened, and when I checked the card, I discovered it belonged to the honorable Brown family,” Logan explained, turning to shoot a glare at Julian while, at the same time, handing the card over to Jude.

Jude's expression changed after hearing Logan's explanation, and at the same time, he took the card from him.

The moment he laid his eyes on the card, his expression darkened, and he turned to Julian.

“Where did you get this card?” He growled, hostility written all over his face.

“I…”

“Sir, don't believe anything he says…” Lyra suddenly interjected, her voice cold.

“He's my husband, and I've known him for more than two years. There's no way he got that card through any other means apart from stealing it from the owner.”

Jude's expression darkened even more. Was this a coincidence?

A few minutes ago, the head of the Brown family, Lucien Brown, had called him, stating he was coming to the bank to discuss an urgent issue.

Though he was shocked as he wondered what issues could be urgent for even the Brown family.

It turned out that it was a case of theft. Though the Brown family was filthy rich, even if ten billion were stolen from them, they wouldn't feel it.

It wouldn't still be befitting of their status to just let someone steal from them and walk away with it.

Thinking about this, Jude broke out into a loud chuckle and placed his hands on Logan's shoulders.

“Boy, you've done well. I'm sure Mr. Lucien would reward you heavily.”

“Thank you very much, Mr. Jude,” Logan grinned, his face flushed from excitement.

Lyra also grinned. She would get acquainted with the Brown family. Wasn't that a good thing?

Thinking about this, she shot a glare at Julian, who still looked oddly calm as though he was watching a group of clown performances.

“And where's the cashier who tried to cash out the money for him?” Jude questioned, turning around.

Instantly, all eyes fell on the cashier, who instantly tried to hide but was caught by Jude's intimidating gaze.

“You're fired," he spoke, his voice carrying an unwavering authority.

“Later, you'll explain why you wanted to help a criminal cash out the Browns' family money to Mr. Lucien,” he scoffed, then turned to Julian.

The cashier, on the other hand, trembled, sweat covering her face, her hands shaking as she attempted to talk, but nothing was coming out of her mouth.

“Young man, you'd better confess right, or else your sentence will be even worse,” Jude threatened, his gaze fixated on Julian.

“Why don't you let Mr. Brown come over and explain himself,” Julian huffed, sounding rather arrogant.

“And who do you think you are?” Logan burst out into fury, pointing at Julian.

“Guards, give this criminal a good beating so he will know not to utter nonsense in the future,” Logan commanded.

“Yes sir,” the guards answered and moved towards Julian, wanting to beat him up.

“Stop! What do you guys think you're doing?”

A loud, domineering voice came, followed by heavy footsteps as a figure walked into the bank, accompanied by about ten guards.

  • An invitation

Julian stared at the man and couldn't seem to grasp what he might be insinuating. If he could remember correctly, today was the first time he was coming across anyone from the Preston family. In fact, he never knew such a family existed. He wasn’t staying in this city and also wasn’t someone interested in a family’s history and background. “Might be a mistake. I am sure that this is the first time we are meeting each other.” Julain said casually with a smile. “Honey, do you know him from somewhere?” Fenna turned to look at Dalton, searching his face, which had a puzzled look on it. “Uhmmm,” Dalton stuttered, finding it difficult to decide. He had definitely met someone who looked like Julian; however, that person was quite older. It didn’t make sense that he was aging backwards, right? “What’s your last name?” He could only ask instead. “Eddleman,” Julian replied, curious to know where it would lead to. “Ahh, forget it. I might be mistaking you for someone else.” He waved the

  • We have met before?

“Dad, Fenna here tried to frame Mom for poisoning Owen. I am only trying to make her confess, that’s all.” Drake said proudly and deliberately took a glance at Fenna, hinting at the kind of trouble she had brought up herself. Everyone was, in fact, pleased that Dalton was back. As the head of the family, he could pass judgment and even banish a family member. Every power still rested in his hand until he decided to pass it on. Dalton frowned when he heard this. The place had become so silent with just his footsteps echoing as he began to trot towards them. Hurriedly, Helen wanted to speak. “Honey…” However, Dalton lifted his hand, cutting her off even before she could complete her sentence. His gaze was fixed on Fenna all along; the tears streaming down her cheeks touched his heart, and he proceeded to ask after pulling the smoke pipe from his lips. “What happened?” He asked calmly. Everyone immediately frowned, including Helen. She thought he would listen to her straight away

  • I asked a fucking question

An intense fight was about to break out. Waves had gushed around, flipping the couch ahead while some family members were almost blown off their feet. It happened so fast before anyone could even react, even though they had anticipated it. “Wait!” However, Fenna suddenly yelled in the nick of time, just when Tiger's sword had almost struck Scarface. Even though he had taken a stance, ready to tank the move, from how explosive and deadly it was, it was evident that the blow would kill him instantly. Tiger quickly halted the attack; however, the edge of the sword was so close to splitting Scarface's head in two. A few cuts had been inflicted on his face with blood pouring over even though the attack hadn’t struck deeply yet. Not only had Tiger concentrated so much of his Qi into his sword, but he also had the intention to kill Scarface on the spot. She just couldn’t allow him to kill Scarface just because of her. The man didn’t deserve to die just like that even though he was read

  • The past is the past

Fenna never expected such a question, and what was more, aside from the witnesses, she had no proof to back up her claim. The infirmary didn’t have any cameras installed, which was why Helen had been so bold to do what she did. Fenna bit her lower lip in frustration when she noticed that, actually, the other family members had gathered to look. That was precisely why Helen said that, so she could save herself and, at the turn, make Fenna seem like the troublesome one. “It seems you don’t have proof.” Helen chided when she saw the darkened look on Fenna's face. “Tch! How bold and thick-skinned. You are pointing fingers, yet you don’t even have proof? Are you looking down on us or what?” Drake grunted, his fist tightening. “You have always wanted to kick us out of this family when we haven't done anything to you.” He added, when a thought suddenly popped into his head. “I think I know what’s going on here!” He suddenly said loudly for everyone to hear. “Me too.” Chloe also stood

  • Put on an act

Meanwhile, in the massive living room within the mansion. Helen was seated on the couch between her kids. On her right was Drake, while on the left was Chloe. They had a keen resemblance to Helen and were very good-looking, even comparable to movie stars on TV. The trio seemed to be invested in a video playing on the phone Helen was holding. Helen had found the video very funny, so she called them over to come take a look. “Hahaha, what a loser. I was expecting much of him, though.” Drake laughed out loudly at a scene in the video that didn’t turn out to be the way he was expecting. As for Chloe, she looked a bit bored. She would have preferred to watch Korean dramas instead. She had the urge to voice out her discontent but the sound of hurried footsteps could be heard coming from a hallway. However, the trio wasn't too concerned about that until the person showed up. It was Fenna, and behind her was Scarface with a solemn expression on his face. “Hellen! How dare you try

  • You saved my son?

Bang! Mrs. Fenna barged into the infirmary in a panic. She had been praying to the heavens to ensure she wouldn’t come to meet the worst-case scenario ever. But then, the first thing she caught was Scarface having a conversation with Randy, both of them having smiles on their faces while Julian was seated beside the lady, seemingly treating her legs with some techniques. In summary, the tension in the air was so calm, and soothing that it didn’t feel like anything bad had happened or that such a villainous woman like Helen had actually come here before. She began to doubt if what Callum told her was true; however, what reason did she have to doubt him now? He wasn’t someone who would lie to her when he knew the kind of mental pressure it would cost her. “You are back?” Julian said with a smile as he looked at her. He could already get a hint that she knew what had happened here. Someone must have told her indeed. “Your son is fine.” He added, and only then did she breathe a s
