"Huh?"

Everyone in the vicinity froze hearing what Logan said. Then they stared at Julian while also stepping backwards, wondering if something was wrong with his brain.

He dared to steal from the Browns? Did he even know what he was doing? Was he in his right senses? That didn't seem to be the case, else, he wouldn't have stolen from the Browns under any circumstances.

"Julian, you're so disgusting, how dare you steal? I'm disappointed in you," Lyra shook her head, disappointment written all over her face.

"Disappointed in me?" Julian mused, staring at Lyra, mockery, disdain written all over his face.

"Do we have anything to do with each other, or are you just being so delusional?"

"Besides, I didn't steal it, one of the Browns gave it to me," Julian added with a shrug.

"Impossible!" Logan countered almost immediately, staring at the card in his hands.

"You must have stolen this card, there's no way the Browns would ever give away this card," Logan sneered, glaring at Julian.

"This is an exclusive Black Card, belonging only to the Brown family, the crest here proves that," Logan continued, pointing at a silver crest embedded in the card, just at the top right edge.

He had seen this card once. When his father was running low in funds and desperately needed money. The Browns had helped his father,  returning a favour his father once rendered to them.

The card his father was given was exactly like this. So he firmly believed Julian had stolen the card

"Give me back the card, I don't have time to play around with you," Julian frowned slightly, stretching out his hands to take the card from Logan.

"You bloody thief, you still want to escape after committing such  an atrocity, I'll never let you go," Logan scoffed and yelled at the top of his voice.

"Guards, come and hold down this thief who dared to steal from the Browns,"

"And you," He turned to the cashier, whose face was now pale with fear, her hands shivering as she stared at Logan. She couldn't believe she had almost cashed out something that was stolen.

She would have gotten involved if Logan had not happened to be here. She was just a small cashier and was barely making ends meet by working here..

How would she be able to survive if she were to offend the Browns.

"Hurry up and inform the manager, tell him you've caught a thief who stole from the Browns," Lucien's voice came, pulling the cashier out of her thoughts.

"There's no need to call me, I'm already here," A hoarse voice came as a short chubby figure in glasses with a round belly walked into the scene.

"Mr. Jude, here you are," Logan's eyes lit up seeing the man and he instantly walked up to him, a wide smile spread on his face.

"What's going on here?" Jude asked, his hoarse thick voice revibrating throughout the place.

"Mr. Jude, I've helped you catch a thief," Logan hurriedly explained, the smile on his face got wider with each second.

"A thief?" Jude frowned slightly, wondering what Logan was talking about.

"Yes sir," Logan nodded hurriedly,

"That criminal over there, tried to cash out the money from this card," Logan continued, pointing at Julian.

"But I was quick to realize there was no way he would have so much money so I quickly intervened and when I checked the card, I discovered it belonged to the honorable Brown family," Logan explained, turning to shoot a glare at Julian, at the same time, handing the card over to Jude.

Jude's expression changed after hearing Logan's explanation, and at the same time, took the card from him.

The moment he laid his eyes on the card, his expression darkened and he turned to Julian,

"Where did you get this card?" He growled, hostility written all over his face.

"I..."

"Sir, don't believe anything he says..." Lyra suddenly interjected, her voice cold.

"He's my husband and I've known him for more than two years. There's no way he's gotten that card through any other means other than stealing it from the owner."

Jude's expression darkened hearing this. Was this a coincidence?

A few minutes ago, the head of the Brown family, Lucien Brown had called him, stating he was coming to the bank to discuss an urgent issue.

Though he was shocked as he wondered what issues could be urgent for even the Brown family.

It turned out that it was a case of theft. Though the Brown family were filthy rich and even if ten billion were stolen from them, they wouldn't feel it.

It wouldn't still be befitting of their status to just let someone steal from them and walk away with it.

Thinking about this, Jude broke out into a loud chuckle and placed his hands on Logan's shoulders,

"Boy, you've done good, I'm sure Mr. Lucien would reward you heavily,"

"Thank you very much Mr. Jude," Logan grinned, his face going red from excitement.

Lyra also grinned. She would get acquainted with the Brown family. Wasn't that a good thing?

Thinking about this, she shot a glare at Julian who still looked oddly calm and it was as though he was watching a group of clown performances.

"And where's the cashier who tried to cash out the money for him?" Jude questioned, turning around, his voice hoarse.

Instantly, all eyes fell on the cashier who instantly tried to hide, but was caught by Jude's intimidating gaze.

"You're fired," He spoke, his voice carrying an unwavering authority.

"Later, you'll explain why you wanted to help a criminal cash out the Browns family money to Mr. Lucien," He scoffed then turned to Julian.

The cashier on the other hand trembled, sweet covering her face, her hands shaking as she tried to talk, but nothing was coming out of her mouth.

"Young man, you'd better confess right, else, your sentence would be even worse," Jude threatened, bus gaze fixated on Julian.

"Why don't you let Mr. Brown come over and explain himself," Julian huffed, sounding rather arrogant.

"How are you?" Logan burst out into fury pointing at Julian.

"Guards, give this criminal a good beating so he would know not to utter nonsense in the future," Logan commanded.

"Yes sir," The guards answered and moved towards Julian, wanting to beSt him up.

"Stop! What do you guys  think you're doing in broad daylight," A loud domineering voice came, followed by heavy footsteps as a figure walked into the bank, followed by about ten guards.

  • I own this place

Julian drove the car out of Brittany’s family compound without saying much. The quiet hum of the engine filled the air between them as the gate slowly closed behind the vehicle. Unlike most of the times Brittany had seen him arrive, this time Julian had come alone and had chosen to drive himself. The car he brought was not one of the imposing luxury vehicles that often turned heads on the street. It was a modest salon car that blended easily with ordinary traffic, the sort of vehicle most people would barely look at twice.Brittany noticed it earlier but had said nothing. Now she sat in the passenger seat, occasionally glancing sideways at him. The night breeze drifted through the slightly lowered window, carrying the distant sounds of the city settling into its evening rhythm.“So,” she said after a few minutes, unable to suppress her curiosity any longer, “where exactly are we going?”Julian did not answer immediately. One hand rested calmly on the steering wheel while the other ta

  • Unusual attachments

Julian walked out of the house but Brittany ran after him and stoped him, slowly she was becoming fully dependent on him. “Julian wait,” she called after him and he waited a bit. “You have done a lot for not just me but my family too, yet you don’t accept any form of gratitude at all. Who are you really?” Her eyes were bright with gratitude and her lips trembled slightly. “I just do what I have to do,” Julian had equally grown a soft spot for Brittany so he found himself interfering with matters concerning her and her family just to see her happy.”No, you don’t know what you have just done for my aunt, if your prescription is accurate, you’d have restored decorum in my family as well as my aunt’s confidence.” As she spoke, her eyes glistened with unshed tears, her voice a little thick with emotions.Julian sighed, he wanted to continue the conversation but he didn’t feel her home was the best place for it. “Join me for a ride.” Julian said, his dominantly present confidence never

When Julian told the cab driver his destination, he didn't argue."Who is paying please?" The driver was polite but he had seen people like Julian several times, they claimed to hire cabs to sophisticated destinations just to feel among. To him, Julian looked to poorly dressed to afford a ride, he could have easily taken a rickshaw but he didn't openly berate Julian yet."I have entered your vehicle alone, how then are you asking me that?" Julian was a bit confused. "I thought you have been asked to show up at the location by someone and are hoping on payment from them since you decided to take a cab." The man looked at Julian again through the rear view mirror and concluded that he wasn't all that at all but the confidence that Julian exuded was the reason he was still being polite with him."I am going there in my own. I am paying my bill myself." Julian had decided to take a cab because he didn't have physical cash on him to take a rickshaw. It was not as though he was proud and t

  • He is who he says he is

The manager immediately frowned in response to the complaint he received. As the manager of the place, he had seen several cases like this and handed them over to the security. Most often just apologized and left but Julian seemed to be hard headed. "My presence wouldn't change the company's policy young man. I advice you don't cause any more trouble and leave quietly." The manager wasn't rude but he was stern in his decision. "You haven't heard from me why I have come yet you have judged me based on the words of your staff." Julian maintained his composure and steeze and something about how calm and calculated he was piqued the manager's interest. "Tell me what business do I have with you. • This is it

Morning light filtered through the tall glass panels of the city hospital, casting long reflections across the polished floors. The atmosphere inside was tightly controlled, yet charged with anticipation. Security personnel monitored every entrance, and hospital staff moved with unusual precision. Word had spread far beyond medical circles. What had begun as a rumor was now an event.Julian entered the primary consultation wing without ceremony. His white coat was immaculate, sleeves resting neatly at his wrists. There was no theatrical presence in his stride, no attempt to amplify the tension that already hung in the air. Lucien walked half a step behind him, reviewing the schedule one final time.“All one hundred are confirmed and pre-screened,” Lucien said quietly. “Their case files are loaded into the system, but I assume you won’t need them.”Julian’s gaze remained forward. “Open the first room.”The first patient was a middle-aged man accompanied by two younger relatives who car
