“Mr. Brown, here you are,” Jude hurried towards Lucien with a wide smile.

“Jude what's happening here?” Lucien frowned slightly, his eyes darting around, wondering what was going on.

“Sir, we caught the thief who stole from you,” Jude replied, a smug smile plastered on his face as he spoke.

“A thief?” Lucien's expression darkened as soon as he heard this.

“Stole it from me?” He muttered again, his brows narrowing into a thin line.

“Yes sir.” Jude, who heard this, nodded hurriedly and stretched out the card Logan had given him.

“Isn't that the reason you were coming to look for me, sir? Because someone stole from you, so you want me to be on the lookout and not let the person cash out the money,” Jude continued, giving Lucien the card.

“But you need to worry not, sir, as I've already caught the person. Also, I fired the cashier who was stupid enough to cash the money out.”

“I wouldn't have been able to do all of that if it were not for this young man who exposed the thief,” Jude concluded, pointing at Logan, who was grinning and was all over the moon.

“Mmmm,” Lucien nodded subconsciously; no one noticed that the expression on his face was getting darker and darker with each second.

What the heck was this? Wasn't this the card he gave to the young man who saved his father?

Now someone was declaring him a thief. What the heck was Jude thinking? Was that how the young man would have been humiliated if he hadn't happened to come to the bank?

An inconceivable anger grew in Lucien's heart thinking about this. His body shook with rage while his eyes became red.

He didn't know what he would have done if the young man had been imprisoned.

Probably, even they wouldn't be able to wash the stain off their bodies in their lives.

“Sir. I….”

“Pak!”

A loud slap resounded throughout as Jude froze in place, holding his face, his eyes nearly bulging out of their sockets as he couldn't believe Lucien slapped him.

“Sir…”

“Shut your twerp, you trash!” Lucien roared, veins bulging out of his head, his eyes red, while his body shook.

“But sir….” Jude stuttered, looking rather confused, wondering why Lucien would slap him.

“I said shut the heck up, or do you want me to make you?” Lucien growled, glaring at Jude, while clenching the card in his hand as anger burned through his veins.

How was he supposed to explain this to the young man? He wouldn't have forgiven himself if something had happened to him.

After all, it was his fault for all of these. Taking in a deep breath, he walked towards Julian under everyone's shocked gaze and gave a low bow.

“Esteemed sir, I really do apologize for my subordinate's rudeness; please find it in your heart to forgive him,” Lucien apologized, swallowing his saliva, hoping Julian would accept his apology.

He had saved his father after all. Besides, that was not the only thing. His father would skin him alive if he were to hear that the person who saved his life was treated like a criminal.

Even if he jumped into the Red Sea, that wouldn't be enough to wash away all of his guilt.

“It's you, Mr. Brown,” Julian smiled, feeling rather surprised by Lucien's arrival.

“I was just about to ask them to call you and confirm if you were the one who gave me the card or if I really did steal it,” Julian chuckled, his gaze landing on Logan.

“So do you believe I didn't steal the card?” He added, the smile on his face growing wider with each second.

“Impossible,” Logan shook his head, his eyes nearly bulging out of his sockets.

“Mr. Brown, you must be mistaken,” Logan quickly said, approaching Lucien.

“Perhaps you have mistaken him for someone else,” he continued, still not believing his eyes.

“I know this trash, and there's no way he would have done something worthy enough for you to give him such an amount. I'm confident you must have mistaken him for another person.”

“Yes, he's been my husband for years now, and yet, he's utterly useless,” Lyra chipped in, nodding at Logan's words.

“And you are?” Lucien asked, his brows narrowing slightly, staring at Logan.

“I'm Logan, Logan Anderson; my father is James Anderson,” Logan answered, his eyes twinkling with excitement.

“So you're James's son,” Lucien murmured, a glint flashing in his eyes.

“Yes sir.”

“I see,” Lucien muttered, pulling out his phone to make a call.

“Brandon, withdraw all cooperation with the Anderson family immediately,” Lucien commanded, then ended the call.

Instantly, Logan's expression turned ugly, his face as dark as the coal.

“Sir…”

“Throw this idiot out of my sight,” Lucien turned to his guards and instructed.

“Yes sir,” the guards reacted immediately and grabbed Lucien and Lyra, who were struggling.

“Sir, you have to believe me, I know that idiot; he couldn't possibly be of any value to you. Whatever he did for you must have been a scam.” Logan screamed as he struggled, but to no result; his attempt was futile.

“Sir, please have a Rethink!”

“Break his legs,” Lucien said in a cold voice, his eyes held contempt.

Hearing this, Logan instantly went mute, his body shook and shuddered with fear, while his eyes opened wide.

“Hubby please, you can't let them do this to me, right?” Lyra suddenly screamed, looking over at Julian.

“You still love me, right?”

“We've been together for many years!” Lyra screamed as she struggled against the guard's grip.

“Let her go,” Julian spoke, his gaze landing on Lyra, who was covered with sweat, begging with all she had.

“I'm sorry, I didn't know she was your wife,” Lucien instantly apologized, at the same time signaling the guards to put Lyra down while they carried Logan out.

“It's fine,” Lucien replied, sounding rather bland as he turned to Lyra, who was rushing towards him.

  • An invitation

Julian stared at the man and couldn't seem to grasp what he might be insinuating. If he could remember correctly, today was the first time he was coming across anyone from the Preston family. In fact, he never knew such a family existed. He wasn’t staying in this city and also wasn’t someone interested in a family’s history and background. “Might be a mistake. I am sure that this is the first time we are meeting each other.” Julain said casually with a smile. “Honey, do you know him from somewhere?” Fenna turned to look at Dalton, searching his face, which had a puzzled look on it. “Uhmmm,” Dalton stuttered, finding it difficult to decide. He had definitely met someone who looked like Julian; however, that person was quite older. It didn’t make sense that he was aging backwards, right? “What’s your last name?” He could only ask instead. “Eddleman,” Julian replied, curious to know where it would lead to. “Ahh, forget it. I might be mistaking you for someone else.” He waved the

  • We have met before?

“Dad, Fenna here tried to frame Mom for poisoning Owen. I am only trying to make her confess, that’s all.” Drake said proudly and deliberately took a glance at Fenna, hinting at the kind of trouble she had brought up herself. Everyone was, in fact, pleased that Dalton was back. As the head of the family, he could pass judgment and even banish a family member. Every power still rested in his hand until he decided to pass it on. Dalton frowned when he heard this. The place had become so silent with just his footsteps echoing as he began to trot towards them. Hurriedly, Helen wanted to speak. “Honey…” However, Dalton lifted his hand, cutting her off even before she could complete her sentence. His gaze was fixed on Fenna all along; the tears streaming down her cheeks touched his heart, and he proceeded to ask after pulling the smoke pipe from his lips. “What happened?” He asked calmly. Everyone immediately frowned, including Helen. She thought he would listen to her straight away

  • I asked a fucking question

An intense fight was about to break out. Waves had gushed around, flipping the couch ahead while some family members were almost blown off their feet. It happened so fast before anyone could even react, even though they had anticipated it. “Wait!” However, Fenna suddenly yelled in the nick of time, just when Tiger's sword had almost struck Scarface. Even though he had taken a stance, ready to tank the move, from how explosive and deadly it was, it was evident that the blow would kill him instantly. Tiger quickly halted the attack; however, the edge of the sword was so close to splitting Scarface's head in two. A few cuts had been inflicted on his face with blood pouring over even though the attack hadn’t struck deeply yet. Not only had Tiger concentrated so much of his Qi into his sword, but he also had the intention to kill Scarface on the spot. She just couldn’t allow him to kill Scarface just because of her. The man didn’t deserve to die just like that even though he was read

  • The past is the past

Fenna never expected such a question, and what was more, aside from the witnesses, she had no proof to back up her claim. The infirmary didn’t have any cameras installed, which was why Helen had been so bold to do what she did. Fenna bit her lower lip in frustration when she noticed that, actually, the other family members had gathered to look. That was precisely why Helen said that, so she could save herself and, at the turn, make Fenna seem like the troublesome one. “It seems you don’t have proof.” Helen chided when she saw the darkened look on Fenna's face. “Tch! How bold and thick-skinned. You are pointing fingers, yet you don’t even have proof? Are you looking down on us or what?” Drake grunted, his fist tightening. “You have always wanted to kick us out of this family when we haven't done anything to you.” He added, when a thought suddenly popped into his head. “I think I know what’s going on here!” He suddenly said loudly for everyone to hear. “Me too.” Chloe also stood

  • Put on an act

Meanwhile, in the massive living room within the mansion. Helen was seated on the couch between her kids. On her right was Drake, while on the left was Chloe. They had a keen resemblance to Helen and were very good-looking, even comparable to movie stars on TV. The trio seemed to be invested in a video playing on the phone Helen was holding. Helen had found the video very funny, so she called them over to come take a look. “Hahaha, what a loser. I was expecting much of him, though.” Drake laughed out loudly at a scene in the video that didn’t turn out to be the way he was expecting. As for Chloe, she looked a bit bored. She would have preferred to watch Korean dramas instead. She had the urge to voice out her discontent but the sound of hurried footsteps could be heard coming from a hallway. However, the trio wasn't too concerned about that until the person showed up. It was Fenna, and behind her was Scarface with a solemn expression on his face. “Hellen! How dare you try

  • You saved my son?

Bang! Mrs. Fenna barged into the infirmary in a panic. She had been praying to the heavens to ensure she wouldn’t come to meet the worst-case scenario ever. But then, the first thing she caught was Scarface having a conversation with Randy, both of them having smiles on their faces while Julian was seated beside the lady, seemingly treating her legs with some techniques. In summary, the tension in the air was so calm, and soothing that it didn’t feel like anything bad had happened or that such a villainous woman like Helen had actually come here before. She began to doubt if what Callum told her was true; however, what reason did she have to doubt him now? He wasn’t someone who would lie to her when he knew the kind of mental pressure it would cost her. “You are back?” Julian said with a smile as he looked at her. He could already get a hint that she knew what had happened here. Someone must have told her indeed. “Your son is fine.” He added, and only then did she breathe a s
