Chapter 1

Betrayed

“Hey! Move your Rickshaw! It's blocking the damn road!”

“Beeeep!”

A loud yell came, followed by the loud honking of the cars on the busy road.

“Sorry, everyone, I'll move it right away,” a handsome young man, drenched in sweat, apologized as he moved hurriedly towards the rickshaw, pushing it away from the road.

“Sorry for the discomfort, everyone,” the young man, Julian, smiled at the crowd and gave a slight bow.

However, the crowd didn't care; everyone just continued with their business.

“I should head home now; my wife should be back,” Julian muttered, wiping away his sweat.

He had just finished his main work and decided to run a few errands.

Though it was tiring in the bustling city, it was all for his wife. Besides, it still earned him some extra bucks.

Getting into the rickshaw, Jillian started it and drove away slowly while humming.

He couldn't help but be lost in his thoughts about getting entangled in his wife's embrace once more.

She had gone on a business trip and was supposed to be back today. While he was already running late, he was sure she would have returned.

The thought of this made Julian smile even wider as he accelerated, wanting to get home as fast as he could.

Minutes later, Julian pulled up to his neighborhood and soon arrived at his apartment.

But then, just as he got to the front, he noticed a Mercedes-Benz parked before his apartment, blocking the spot where he usually parked his rickshaw.

“Who the hell owns the car?” Julian muttered, a frown spread lightly across his face as he wondered who it could have been.

Of course, it didn’t make any sense that out of all places, someone in his right mind would choose to park in front of his house right?

“I'll find the owner later; I can't keep my wife waiting,” he shook his head, refraining from getting annoyed, before he drove to the other side to park his rickshaw. After that, he hopped down and trotted towards the entrance of his house.

“Hey stop there!”

Out of the blue, two bulky men stepped forward and blocked his path.

“And you are?” Julian froze on his track, sounding rather impatient as he looked up at both men.

“That's none of your business,” the men scoffed, glaring at Julian with disdain written all over their faces.

“All we know is that you can't go in?”

“Huh?” Julian was even more surprised.

“I can't go into my apartment?” He asked, raising a brow at them in disbelief.

“Now that you've heard it, you can get lost,” one of the men scowled. He didn’t seem to take Julian seriously at all.

“I don't understand, why can't I get into my apartment?” Julian probed further, still looking confused.

“That's because our boss is busy inside; now step away, you punk!” The man answered, shoving Julian away aggressively.

Julian staggered backward and nearly fell before he was able to regain balance.

“This is my house, if you want to stop me then you have to do more than just push me away?!” Julian suddenly lost it and yelled, before charging towards the men.

“This is my fucking apartment! What right do you have to stop me!” Julian continued, trying to get past the men, but they held him firmly and kept pushing him back like he weighed nothing.

“And what the heck is the commotion all about,” a lazy voice came from behind, and a shirtless man walked out of the house. Besides him was a lady who was scantily dressed.

“Lyra?” Julian looked over and when he saw the lady, his eyes widened in horror.

“Julian you're back? I didn't expect you to be this early,” the lady answered, shocked, as she saw him, but her expression was quick to change.

“But...but… You said you were going for…for a business trip…” Julian stuttered, his eyes still stuck wide while his body trembled as he still couldn't comprehend what was happening.

“Gone on a business trip?” Lyra mused as she burst out into laughter.

“You really are stupid, aren't you, Julian?” She added, mockingly.

“Your dear wife was never on a business trip.” The man beside Lyra burst out into laughter before he grabbed Lyra's waist, and deliberately kissed her passionately.

“She has been with me all along, and has been obediently giving me everything you rarely get to enjoy,” he mocked, pulling Lyra closer, and slapping her ass.

“Lyra.. Lyra...” Julian felt choked. His throat turned so sour while his eyes became red as a pang of pain surged through his body.

“But…but I've always loved you….” He sai wondering what had gone wrong.

“I even worked menial jobs outside my regular job just to be able to provide for you…”

“I've always provided for you….”

“So?” Lyra challenged, raising her brows as she stared at him without remorse in her chest. Infact she was disgusted by his words.

“Love?” She continued, slipping into Logan’s arms.

“What can love buy? A handbag? A diamond ring? Look at you, Julian. Sweating like a rickshaw puller. You think I’d waste my life on this?”

“But…”

“Enough of that…” Lyra snapped, tired of his pathetic words as though he was trying to beg for sympathy.

“You disgust me, Julian. , Do you really think someone like me could be with you?”

“I thought you were a provider. I thought you were destined for great things, but here you are, sweating like a beggar.”

“Let me tell you Julian, we are not from the same world. There's no possibility between the two of us,” Lyra scowled; ruthlessness flashed in her eyes.

At the moment, Julian felt as though his world was crumbling. The one person he was working so hard for didn't even appreciate his effort. She was cheating in their house with a stranger who was out to annoy him too. His hands' placement on her body was deliberate and it kept going to more places just to spite Julian even more.

Taking in a deep breath, Julian spoke, his tone resolute. It seemed this was the end. She didn’t look like she was sorry so was there even a need to still be here? He loved her and yet this was what he got.

“Let's get a divorce,”

“I'll send your copy tomorrow for you to sign,” Julian added and turned around, preparing to leave. There was no use staying here anyway.

“Boy, your wife is good; I've never seen someone as skilled as her,” Logan didn’t want it to end there. He immediately taunted as he saw Julian about to walk away.

“Don't worry, I'll definitely handle her well and make sure I…”

“I'll kill you!” Julian couldn't take it anymore and exploded, rushing towards Logan. He had endured how the man romanced her before his eyes and yet he had to go so far as to spit such disgusting words at him.

However, the two bulky men were still on the way. They killed him as soon as he made a move. There was no way they could watch him attack their boss. That was impossible.

“Break his limbs; I want to see what he would do once he loses a limb.”

Logan frowned as he ordered. Subsequently, a smirk appeared on his lip as he enjoyed how pitifully Julian was after being held by his men and couldn’t advance further to attack him.

“Yes sir!” The man nodded, and the next thing that was heard was Julian's screams.

“Isn't he going to die?” Lyra asked when she saw how hard the men were beating Julian.

“Don't worry, even if he dies, nothing will happen.” Logan didn’t look like he cared about that. Afterall Julian was such a bum.

“Alright, let's go in. I'm not done enjoying you…”

These were the last words Julian heard from the adulterous couple before the pain of his limbs being broken and the beating from the men knocked him out cold.

His vision blurred as he collapsed onto the floor. He came back happily to welcome his wife, yet it seemed life had a cruel fate waiting for him.

In his last moment, he couldn't help but curse at Lyra, Logan, and the men who had just put him in such a state.

However, no one noticed as all this happened, Julian's blood dropped on the necklace he was wearing, and it turned into a white stream of light absorbing into his body.
