"Huh?"
Both Lucien and the doctors froze, their heads turned slowly towards Julian who stood on a spot staring at them.
"And you are?" The lead doctor asked, breaking the silence as he was the first to come back to his senses.
"And how did you get here?" He continued asking, his eyes on Jillian scrutinizing the latter as though he couldn't wait to get the information he needed out of him.
"Who I am doesn't matter, neither does how I got here," Julian replied walking towards the bed slowly, his brows into a thin line, his gaze fixated on the old man.
"What matters is that I can save this old man's life," He added, stopping right by the bed.
"So if I may," Julian said and proceeded to pick up the old man's arms wanting to read his pulse.
"I'm sorry, but we can't let you try anything," The lead doctor suddenly spoke, blocking Julian, his gaze not leaving the latter even for a second.
Julian was just a young man not even thirty years. Yet, he claimed he was able to treat something they had been unable to do anything about for months.
"After all, we don't know who you are, besides, if something were to happen to the patient, we'll be held responsible," The doctor added, his gaze not leaving Julian even for a second.
He didn't know who the latter was, nor had he seen him before. But the confidence emanating from him was something he couldn't obviously dismiss.
"Well, you just declared you're helpless and can't do anything to help the patient, so why don't you just let me try?" Julian shrugged, then turned to Lucien who was observing the situation but didn't say anything.
"Or what do you say, Mr. Brown?" He asked, his voice calm.
"Are you sure you'll be able to extend my father's life?" Lucien spoke after a moment of silence, his eyes seemed to bore right into Julian.
"Not to talk of extending your father's life for a few days, I can treat your father and guarantee he'll live for at least ten years more," Julian assured, a hint of arrogance in his voice.
"Aren't you just spouting nonsense young man!" The doctors flew into a rage glaring at Julian.
"Do you even know what you're saying!?"
"We couldn't treat the old man even after spending months trying to understand what was wrong with him, yet you just pop out of nowhere and claim you could treat him!"
"Who do you think you are? The medical God?!"
"I think he's a con man, else, there's no way he would have walked in here brazenly and made such a ridiculous remark!"
"Call the security and have them throw him out! He'll tarnish the reputation of our hospital!"
The doctors yelled furiously at Julian, pointing at him, saying harsh and mean words, but Julian didn't budge.
His gaze remained fixated on Lucien who was yet to give a reply.
"Mr. Brown, time is of essence, if you delay any longer, then I'm afraid you'd really have to prepare for his funeral," Julian broke the silence, ignoring the harsh remarks of the doctors.
"Young man, if you could truly save my father as you've said, I'm willing to pay one billion," Lucien said hurriedly, promising almost instantly.
"It's decided," Julian's mouth curved into a smile and he turned back to the old man on the bed. But just as he was about to check the old man's pulse once again, the lead doctor blocked him.
"I can't absolutely allow you to do anything to a patient with no one," The doctor shook his head, refusing to move away.
Julian's expression changed seeing this. The condition of the old man was deteriorating fast, if he didn't act soon enough, then even he would be helpless.
Though he did understand the reason the doctors were in denial. But then, they were beginning to cross the line.
"Mr. Brown," Julian called, turning to Lucien whose expression was now ashen.
"Stand back Marcus," Lucien spat coldly, a glint flashing in his eyes as he stared at the doctor blocking Julian.
The doctor, Marcus swallowed a lump, and sweat covered his forehead as they trickled down.
He had been working for the Brown family for years, but this was the first time Lucien was addressing him directly by his name, and what more his voice was extremely cold and chilling.
But then he wasn't going to give up. After all, he believed Julian was just a con man. If something were to happen to the old man, the hospital would be held responsible.
"Sir, you should try and understand my view," Marcus stated hurriedly, trying to suppress his anxiousness while he gulped down a saliva.
"This young man here is definitely a con man, I'm sure he's not even a medical doctor," He added and then turned to Julian.
"Which medical school did you attend? And where's your licence?" He asked, glaring at Julian.
Julian's expression darkened, but he still answered,
"I've never gone to a medical school, so naturally, I can't have a license,"
"You've heard him Mr. Brown, there's definitely no way this man can save your father, he knows nothing about medicine, so please think straight and don't be deceived," Marcus stated, swallowing his saliva, while sweat trickled down his forehead.
Lucien's expression darkened and a hint of hesitation appeared in his eyes. The confidence emanating from Julian made him believe he would be able to save his father.
After all, he had felt this kind of confidence before as he had it when he was younger. So he knew Julian wasn't bluffing.
But if they were to look at it logically. The latter had never attended a medical school, so how in the world would he be able to save his father.
That should be impossible right.
"Mr. Brown, you have to make your decision now, else any later than this, then even Hua Tuo won't be able to save him," Julian's voice came, pulling Lucien back to his senses.

Julian drove the car out of Brittany’s family compound without saying much. The quiet hum of the engine filled the air between them as the gate slowly closed behind the vehicle. Unlike most of the times Brittany had seen him arrive, this time Julian had come alone and had chosen to drive himself. The car he brought was not one of the imposing luxury vehicles that often turned heads on the street. It was a modest salon car that blended easily with ordinary traffic, the sort of vehicle most people would barely look at twice.Brittany noticed it earlier but had said nothing. Now she sat in the passenger seat, occasionally glancing sideways at him. The night breeze drifted through the slightly lowered window, carrying the distant sounds of the city settling into its evening rhythm.“So,” she said after a few minutes, unable to suppress her curiosity any longer, “where exactly are we going?”Julian did not answer immediately. One hand rested calmly on the steering wheel while the other ta

Julian walked out of the house but Brittany ran after him and stoped him, slowly she was becoming fully dependent on him. “Julian wait,” she called after him and he waited a bit. “You have done a lot for not just me but my family too, yet you don’t accept any form of gratitude at all. Who are you really?” Her eyes were bright with gratitude and her lips trembled slightly. “I just do what I have to do,” Julian had equally grown a soft spot for Brittany so he found himself interfering with matters concerning her and her family just to see her happy.”No, you don’t know what you have just done for my aunt, if your prescription is accurate, you’d have restored decorum in my family as well as my aunt’s confidence.” As she spoke, her eyes glistened with unshed tears, her voice a little thick with emotions.Julian sighed, he wanted to continue the conversation but he didn’t feel her home was the best place for it. “Join me for a ride.” Julian said, his dominantly present confidence never

When Julian told the cab driver his destination, he didn't argue."Who is paying please?" The driver was polite but he had seen people like Julian several times, they claimed to hire cabs to sophisticated destinations just to feel among. To him, Julian looked to poorly dressed to afford a ride, he could have easily taken a rickshaw but he didn't openly berate Julian yet."I have entered your vehicle alone, how then are you asking me that?" Julian was a bit confused. "I thought you have been asked to show up at the location by someone and are hoping on payment from them since you decided to take a cab." The man looked at Julian again through the rear view mirror and concluded that he wasn't all that at all but the confidence that Julian exuded was the reason he was still being polite with him."I am going there in my own. I am paying my bill myself." Julian had decided to take a cab because he didn't have physical cash on him to take a rickshaw. It was not as though he was proud and t

Morning light filtered through the tall glass panels of the city hospital, casting long reflections across the polished floors. The atmosphere inside was tightly controlled, yet charged with anticipation. Security personnel monitored every entrance, and hospital staff moved with unusual precision. Word had spread far beyond medical circles. What had begun as a rumor was now an event.Julian entered the primary consultation wing without ceremony. His white coat was immaculate, sleeves resting neatly at his wrists. There was no theatrical presence in his stride, no attempt to amplify the tension that already hung in the air. Lucien walked half a step behind him, reviewing the schedule one final time.“All one hundred are confirmed and pre-screened,” Lucien said quietly. “Their case files are loaded into the system, but I assume you won’t need them.”Julian’s gaze remained forward. “Open the first room.”The first patient was a middle-aged man accompanied by two younger relatives who car
