"You see what I was saying Mr. Brown, this young man here is obviously a com man," Marcus instantly said, pointing at Julian.
"We've already declared your father is beyond saving. Now after he says he could save him, he's trying to go back on his word," Marcus continued, throwing a glare at Julian.
"Sir, let's..."
"Marcus, get out of the way," Lucien's cold voice came at the moment, interrupting Marcus.
"Huh?" Marcus froze as he couldn't believe his ears.
"I said get out of the way and let that young man treat my father," Lucien commanded, his cold gaze and his voice held absolute authority.
"But sir...."
"Can you take responsibility if anything happens to my father?" Lucien growled, interrupting Marcus, his gaze even colder at the moment.
Marcus swallowed his saliva as sweat trickled down his forehead.
Take responsibility? That was the last thing he wanted to do.
The Brown family was a very powerful family. And in the entire Silverlake, only three families could stand up to them.
So he didn't even dare to think about taking any forms of responsibility. If he even tried it, he was going to lose all he ever owned.
Thinking like this, Marcus slowly stepped back, but shot Julian a glare.
The other doctors also moved backwards. They knew just how ruthless the Brown family could be.
Especially the man standing before them. So they didn't dare say anything and just stepped back.
"You can begin treatment," Lucien said, turning to Julian who was standing by the side.
"Sure," Julian nodded and walked towards the old man. Taking the old man's wrist, he began to read his pulse.
Lucien, Marcus and the other doctors frowned slightly as they watched Julian carefully read the man's pulse, no one dared to say anything.
Soon, Julian's expression darkened and he shook his head. The situation was far worse than he had thought it was.
This set of dumb doctors had been treating the wrong thing all along.
The old man was perfectly fine, it was just that one of the meridians leading to his heart had been clogged, thus resulting in some of his bodily functions to start to fail.
But then the doctors had treated something else and as a result, more and more of the old man's meridians were becoming clogged and the condition got even more serious until it was what it was now.
So the first thing he had to do was to clear the old man's meridians, after that, he would treat the old man's damaged liver and lungs.
The doctors had administered the wrong drugs, so, the lungs and the liver got damaged in the process.
In short, it was safe to say the doctors killed the old man as it was because of his lungs and liver damage that caused his death.
"I need a set of silver needles, and a bowl of hot water," Julian broke the silence, turning to Lucien.
"Go get him what he needs," Lucien in turn, turned to Marcus and commanded.
Nodding, Marcus hurried out of the ward to get what Julian had demanded. Though he was a bit skeptical, there was nothing he could do about it.
Julian on the other hand took in a deep breath and removed the old man's clothes with the help of the other doctors.
Though they were unwilling to help, under Lucien's gaze, there was nothing they could do about it.
Staring at the body, Lucien slowly began to seal some of the old man's acupoints.
As he did the, the heart rate monitor connected to the old man instantly spiked up, making the doctors glance at Julian wondering what the heck he was doing.
But Julian couldn't care less and continued what he was doing slowly. Though he knew the human body like the back of his hands, this was the first time he was actually using it.
In no time, Marcus was back with a set of silver needles and a bowl of hot water.
Seeing how the heart rate monitor had spiked up, he shook his head, but didn't say anything. After all, Lucien was set on what he wanted to do, there was no way to stop him.
Julian on the other hand took in a deep breath and slowly picked up the silver needles, it was time to do the hard part.
Taking the first needle, he stabbed it directly into the old man's heart about three inches deep..
The doctors gasped, but didn't say anything. Lucien's expression also darkened, but he kept on watching.
Soon, an hour passed and Julian who was now sweating profusely removed the last needle, then turned around and washed his hands in the hot water which has now become warm.
"It's done," Julian muttered, weakly, turning to Lucien whose expression was a bit unreadable.
"How dare you claim you're done? Didn't you just kill the old man?" Marcus burst out into fury, pointing at Julian.
At some point during the treatment, the heart rate monitor suddenly went
silent, and there were no readings, signifying the old man was dead.
But because Julian was still carrying out his act and Lucien was watching, he didn't dare to say anything and just kept on watching.
But now, Julian was done and he was even trying to escape? There was no way he was going to let that happen.
"Sir, you should call the cops and have this con man arrested. He had successfully sent your father to the afterlife," Marcus advised, turning to Lucien.
The other doctors also nodded in agreement. That was the truth. Julian has killed the old man, there was no doubt about that.
Lucien stared at Julian not knowing what to say. Even under the doctor's harsh words and insults, he didn't lose his composure, he was still as confident as ever.
If that was the case, then it was either Julian had really treated his father, or, he was an experienced con man. Whatever was the case, he knew just what he had to do.

I own this place
Julian drove the car out of Brittany’s family compound without saying much. The quiet hum of the engine filled the air between them as the gate slowly closed behind the vehicle. Unlike most of the times Brittany had seen him arrive, this time Julian had come alone and had chosen to drive himself. The car he brought was not one of the imposing luxury vehicles that often turned heads on the street. It was a modest salon car that blended easily with ordinary traffic, the sort of vehicle most people would barely look at twice.Brittany noticed it earlier but had said nothing. Now she sat in the passenger seat, occasionally glancing sideways at him. The night breeze drifted through the slightly lowered window, carrying the distant sounds of the city settling into its evening rhythm.“So,” she said after a few minutes, unable to suppress her curiosity any longer, “where exactly are we going?”Julian did not answer immediately. One hand rested calmly on the steering wheel while the other ta
Unusual attachments
Julian walked out of the house but Brittany ran after him and stoped him, slowly she was becoming fully dependent on him. “Julian wait,” she called after him and he waited a bit. “You have done a lot for not just me but my family too, yet you don’t accept any form of gratitude at all. Who are you really?” Her eyes were bright with gratitude and her lips trembled slightly. “I just do what I have to do,” Julian had equally grown a soft spot for Brittany so he found himself interfering with matters concerning her and her family just to see her happy.”No, you don’t know what you have just done for my aunt, if your prescription is accurate, you’d have restored decorum in my family as well as my aunt’s confidence.” As she spoke, her eyes glistened with unshed tears, her voice a little thick with emotions.Julian sighed, he wanted to continue the conversation but he didn’t feel her home was the best place for it. “Join me for a ride.” Julian said, his dominantly present confidence never

When Julian told the cab driver his destination, he didn't argue."Who is paying please?" The driver was polite but he had seen people like Julian several times, they claimed to hire cabs to sophisticated destinations just to feel among. To him, Julian looked to poorly dressed to afford a ride, he could have easily taken a rickshaw but he didn't openly berate Julian yet."I have entered your vehicle alone, how then are you asking me that?" Julian was a bit confused. "I thought you have been asked to show up at the location by someone and are hoping on payment from them since you decided to take a cab." The man looked at Julian again through the rear view mirror and concluded that he wasn't all that at all but the confidence that Julian exuded was the reason he was still being polite with him."I am going there in my own. I am paying my bill myself." Julian had decided to take a cab because he didn't have physical cash on him to take a rickshaw. It was not as though he was proud and t

Morning light filtered through the tall glass panels of the city hospital, casting long reflections across the polished floors. The atmosphere inside was tightly controlled, yet charged with anticipation. Security personnel monitored every entrance, and hospital staff moved with unusual precision. Word had spread far beyond medical circles. What had begun as a rumor was now an event.Julian entered the primary consultation wing without ceremony. His white coat was immaculate, sleeves resting neatly at his wrists. There was no theatrical presence in his stride, no attempt to amplify the tension that already hung in the air. Lucien walked half a step behind him, reviewing the schedule one final time.“All one hundred are confirmed and pre-screened,” Lucien said quietly. “Their case files are loaded into the system, but I assume you won’t need them.”Julian’s gaze remained forward. “Open the first room.”The first patient was a middle-aged man accompanied by two younger relatives who car
