Alex once stood at the very apex of the Tower, on the verge of ascension—until he was betrayed by the comrades he trusted most. Death should have been the end, but instead, he awakens reincarnated several months before the Tower’s rise. Armed with knowledge from his past life, Alex enters the Tower once more, growing stronger with every step. This time, he climbs with two clear goals: to reach the summit again and uncover what lies beyond the Tower’s peak, and to exact revenge on those who betrayed him.

Chapter 1

The reincarnated soul

A ripple of unease stirred through the crowd. "Should we stop that?" someone whispered. Before them, a boy named Alex was the focus of brutal torment. A gang of youths relentlessly beat and taunted him until he succumbed, collapsing into unconsciousness. "He fainted," one sneered as they departed. "We can continue tomorrow."

As the shadows deepened, Alex stirred. He pushed himself up, a sigh escaping his lips. "Do they never tire of this daily ritual?" A surge of anger hardened his tone as he muttered, "I wish they would just rot somewhere." Later, under the cloak of 10 PM, Alex limped to his door, his fingers clumsy with the key. Inside, he sought refuge in the bathroom, tending to his wounds with a weary resignation. A long, hot bath offered fleeting solace, washing away the day's accumulated fatigue. Finally, he retreated to his bed, the question echoing in his mind: Where had everything gone wrong?

As he wrestled with the injustice of his torment, a consuming hatred for the world that had allowed it to fester began to swell within him. Then, with startling suddenness, his eyes turned to a void of black, the irises burning with a stark white light. A torrent of memories, alien and vivid, flooded his consciousness: a looming tower set to awaken latent talents in humanity, his own ascent to a realm of gods, and his ignominious end – betrayed and discarded by those who had once used him.

Tears streamed down Alex's face, a mixture of anguish and a chilling delight. "This time," he whispered, his voice laced with newfound resolve, "I won't be a pawn. I'll become the villain this world deserves."

Alex awoke, a maelstrom raging within his skull. The mirror reflected a stranger: his once dark hair now bone-white, his eyes abyssal voids pierced by stark white irises. The memories of yesterday crashed upon him, the most prominent being the echoes of his past life. The transfer complete, his face hardened into an emotionless mask. "Unbelievable," he murmured, "the memories of my past life have returned." He recalled his final moments before betrayal – conquering the 100th floor, poised to ascend to the outer realm, and the reward for his triumph: the Scythe of the End.

He pondered the scythe's role in his reincarnation, dismissing it as irrelevant for now. School was out of the question as his altered appearance would draw unwanted attention. "The tower will summon everyone in two months," he mused. "I must elevate this pathetic body to the minimum standard required to enter." He checked his bank balance, a grim satisfaction washing over him. "This sum will suffice for three months. I need not concern myself with earthly matters during my final days." He promptly enrolled in a gym, steeling himself for the arduous task ahead.

Two months later, Alex surveyed his transformed physique, a rare smile gracing his lips. A single tear traced a path down his cheek as he recalled the grueling training: the endless miles run to the point of collapse, the punishing workouts, the restrictive diet. With the recollection complete, he donned black jeans, a grey t-shirt, and a long black coat. The ensemble, combined with his hair and eyes, exuded the aura of a villain he had so tried to make. As the clock struck 10 AM, as predicted, he was summoned to the tower.

The tower: a crucible for transcendence, a path to godhood. It homes one hundred floors, with each a self-contained small world. The tower bestowed upon its climbers the System, a power that augmented stats, provided quests, granted skills, and offered endless possibilities. As Alex materialized within the tower, a cascade of messages flooded his vision.

A predatory grin spread across Alex's face as he said "Let the ascent begin."
