Peter Hale barely held his tears, seeing his long lost son hovering above him with a face that looks similar to his younger self.

How cruel could fate make itself that he had become bedridden at the time that he had no muscular strength to engulf him in a tight embrace.

As he had always imagined he would since the time he had been desperately searching for him.

Ryan is now a grown man with good looks but obvious traumatic life experiences.

That prickled Peter's conscience more, he failed as a father,he thought

" H-hello sir" Spence stammered

" You still look as cute as you were back then" Peter said with mixed emotions written all over his wrinkled face

Spence stood there helplessly,he didn't know how to respond to his word.

A compliment that sounds more like a soliloquy

" Ryan" Peter called softly

It took Spence few minutes to respond to his birth name.

It is all still strange for him to get accustomed to the name.

He moved closer to Peter who was desperately trying to move his body parts but was unsuccessful.

Spence held his hand lovingly,at that moment he wished he could retrieve his childhood memories but unfortunately it all seems blank.

Only that he could feel the bond of love radiating from the old man's affectionate eyes.

" I do not know what to say" Spence heard himself say

" Just call me father " Peter responded with pent up love

Spence closed his eyes in a bid to hold back his tears, the word "father " had never been in his dictionary.

Mrs Wellington, his adopted mother was a widow so she only told him stories about his so called late dad.

She never gave love a second chance so he had absolutely no father figure in his life except his mentor Robbin who he met in highschool.

"F-f- ather" Spence stammered adding the most difficult word to his vocabulary

Peter smiled satisfactorily , he only has his daughter Selena to thank had she not been stuck in the emergency room at the moment.

Falling into the swimming pool she lost consciousness and had to be admitted to the hospital only for Peter to be informed about her cancer.

Selena had hidden her health condition from him, learning about it infuriates him but also made him sad.

He loved her like his very own and loosing one child after reuniting with the other gave him sorrow he had to bottle in.

" I heard your life has been challenging?" Peter said bluntly

Spence didn't know how to respond so he just nooded in affirmation

" I am sorry I failed you,if only we were more careful at the amusement p----" Peter said with warmth and pity

" No, it wasn't your fault " Spence interjected hastily

He didn't hate the old man for everything that has happened, the unpredictable web of fate can be unreasonable sometimes.

" I am a helpless old man now but I will make sure to bring everything back to how it was meant to be" Peter promised wholeheartedly

Spence was heartbroken, the feeling of wholesome love engulfed him.

Maya had deceived him into believing people only love him for his looks

Despite Mrs Wellington's affection for him, something has always been strange from onset, he knew that

Several times he had dreamed of a different family with him being the center of attention but he couldn't place the other faces.

His adopted mother had always told him off whenever he narrates such weird imagination to her.

She had made him believe his look changed when he entered childhood so his infancy pictures looks quite different.

" I heard you refused all the luxury you were offered?" Peter said

" I appreciate them father but I want something else " Spence said in a businesslike tone

Peter was elated,he had called him father without thinking

" What do you want?" Peter asked calmly

" An opportunity to work in Zillow Jade " Spence said unsure if he hadn't sounded greedy

Peter smiled gently

" You are the heir to Zillow Jade son, it is your inheritance" Peter said in a fatherly tone

"I wish to work as a lowly staff in disguise,so that I can learn about the company from the scratch " Spence said convincingly

Peter has always been an intentional and intelligent man, despite being bedridden.

He had always kept himself abreast of the happenings in Zillow Jade.

His intellectual quotient could comprehend Spence's revenge tactics.

He had made the chief security officer read Spence's history to him and noted all what were worth noting

Peter let out a deep breath he had been holding while Spence made his request

" Pour me some tea" Peter said to Spence

Spence picked up the tea cup beside the bed and half fill it with rejuvenating green tea in the flask.

e lifted it up to his father's mouth and watched him gulped down its content

He sat back and faced Peter looking directly into his aged eyes

" Is it about your ex-wife?" Peter asked out of the blue

Spence's left hand balled into a fist

" I am not sure what you mean father?" Spence said pretentiously

" Is it about getting revenge on her?" Peter said bluntly

Spence knew the bedridden old man has seen through him,he didn't need to deny the obvious

" Revenge isn't my only drive but it makes one of my reason" Spence said confidently

" Your honesty impress me,you aren't a weakling afterall" Peter said smiling knowingly .

" Thank you father" Spence said gratefully

" For how long would you keep yourself veiled?" Peter asked

"One month father " Spence said pleadingly

"And Ryan Hale goes public?" Peter said enthusiastically

" Yes father, just one month to ruin the betrayers" Spence said dangerously which Peter welcomed with a knowing smile

The young lad truly is a Hale.

“Are you going to arrest me now?”Selena’s chest tightened. Despite the fact that she tried to act tough in front of her brother and lover. She knew deep down, she was wounded. He just looked sadly at his sister whose life had been ruined from the onset. He didn’t blame her, he dared not. She didn’t have the same privilege of a caring mother like Mrs Wellington. All Selena had ever done was thrive in the harsh world. He didn’t have to go through all that, all he lacked was wealth and now that he had all of that, he quite misses the old days.“How could you do that to a child?” Spence said at last.“I didn’t kill him intentionally, I just didn’t save him from harm, that’s all.” She picked up her phone and st

She turned young Selena’s back and her eyes scanned through the scars that lie heavily on it, some of the parts still bleeding. She held Ryan who kept staring at the crying Selena. Peter on the other hand raised a defiant gaze and looked over at the damage he had done as if it didn’t matter at all.“She needed to be punished.” He said casually.Clara was made with rage. She picked up Ryan and took him to the other bedroom, Selena followed beside her and when she got to the room Lena, the mansion head maid came forward. Clara instructed her to treat Selena’s wound which she did gently. The other woman stared at the child’s back in awe.Her insides cringe at the thought of an adult doing that to a child. Lena had worked for Clara longer before she got married to Peter, a poor countryside bumpkin whom she somehow fancied; unfortunately, behind her back, he had always attempted to lay with her.“Lena, breathe

Alice smiled warmly at her reflection. The red lip she had on suits her aged skin all too well. Her first instinct was to drive to the Hale mansion and pay Peter a visit but she had a rethink. She hadn’t equipped herself well enough to fight that freaking user. She got to her destination and parked her car. Her eyes scanned the giant building facing her. The mightiness of Zillow Jade filled her heart with envy.
