"Remind me of your name again young man" Taylor Stone said massaging his straggly beards

" Spence Wellington sir" Spence said hastily trying to make a good impression

" Okay Spence, I like you,I like that you are handsome" Taylor said smiling through his half broken teeth

" Thank you sir" Spence smiled appreciately

" You know we are part time contracting company working with Zillow Jade, make sure you leave a good impression on the permanent staffs" Taylor advised him

"Thank you sir, I promise to make you proud" Spence said enthusiastically

" You look promising anyways, your good look and great grades impress me, from a father to son you could be bagging a permanent position soon" Taylor said to him in whispers

Spence smiled knowingly, Taylor would have wet his pants if he realized his real identity, but he was so happy he was still able to fool the bald man.

The land phone rang and Taylor picked up obviously nettled

"You are too dumb Mrs Primrose I told you not to call for any reason when I am still attending to someone" Taylor blurted angrily

Spence brow furrowed,he disliked the man instantly but keeping his cool was more important at the moment

He heard the secretary apologizing intently and trying to make an excuse

"I will fire you soon" Taylor said and banged the call on her

Spence replaced the disgusted look on his face with a pleasant one

" Sorry about that young lad,my secretary is too clumsy, not that I like getting pissed at smart people " Taylor said defensively

" It is understandable sir" Spence said trying to play along

" I only employed her as a philanthropist that I am,but I am getting tired of my own poverty alleviation schemes, poor helpless people always misuse little opportunities " Taylor continued

Spence's hand balled into a fist, he had to summorn all the patience in him to prevent punching his ill tempered boss in the face

" Okay sir" Spence said unsure of how to respond

"So tomorrow you resume work at Zillow Jade customer care service under our company "Taylor said proudly

" Thank you sir" Spence said with excitement

" My secretary will give you the necessary heads up on it, congratulations" Taylor said smiling

happily at him,he extended his hand out to shake him

Spence almost forgot his balled fist behind his back,he quickly uncurled it and returned Mr Taylor 's handshake

" You are one lucky young lad,our salary scheme is the best in terms of contract staffing if you inquire around" Taylor said proudly

Spence scoffed inwardly, this man seems to feel too boastful of himself, being one of the bottom feeder companies on contract job with Zillow Jade,he thinks he has the power to talk down on worker

Spence stood up to leave but Taylor drawed him back to his chitty chat

" I am curious about something,Who referred you my sister ?" Taylor asked curiously

"Oh! a friend " Spence said quickly trying to erase the old hag's suspicion

" My sister barely recommends people to me, you see she hates people, she only loves herself" Taylor said whispering and then busted into uncontrollable laughter that seems odd to Spence

" Al-lright sir" Spence stammered still confused on how to respond to his blabbers

Spence knew he was going to have a hard time working for this kind of man, he just had to endure for a month

" Are you tired of my talking?" Taylor asked unexpectedly rummaging his hands through his bald head

"No sir" Spence responded hastily

" Don't worry lad,we will only get to see once in a month when you start working, only except if you cause me any worry over there that you get to have another dialogue with me" Taylor said dangerously

Spence felt relieved, the thought of seeing this man everyday would make him puke, his unpleasant body odour and look could be depressing to just anybody.

" I will not cause you any worry over there sir" Spence said wholeheartedly

" Your personality puts my mind at ease anyways,if you are going to cause me any trouble it will be that of female customers trooping around you for your good look" Taylor said and laughed loudly

Spence not knowing what to do joined him in laughing at his dry sense of humor

" You can go now" Taylor said smiling

Spence gladly stood up,bowed to him and left.

He walked out of the office to the secretary 's narrow corner,He met with Mrs Primrose,a dull looking woman in her early fourties.

She attended to him swiftly which made Spence curious on why Taylor said she was clumsy

" Congratulations Mr Wellington" Primrose said smiling happily at him

Spence returned the smile wholeheartedly, he kept gazing intently at the woman who seem uninterested in even her own words

" I am sorry my presence in the office made Mr Taylor yell at you" Spence said trying to trigger a reaction from her

He sure did,she flinched at his word confirming his suspicion that something definitely was fishy

" It is okay Mr Wellington, women go through all of these scoldings at workplaces ,we were built for tolerance you see" Primrose said smiling sadly

" Physical abuse or sexual harassment is not something to be tolerated anyways" Spence said nonchalantly

Primrose suddenly dropped the pen she was holding, she looked Spence in the eye and looked away instantly

" That is easy for people with connections and no mouth to feed to work away from disrespect anytime" Primrose said as her fake smile faltered

She picked up her pen,bit her lips more determined not to betray her real emotions in front of this strange man who obviously is also struggling to feed himself.

Although he didn't looked starved or underfed , taking up a contract job at a bottom feeder like VV customer service shows he was also financially handicapped.

Probably being a gigolo has failed him,his well tailored shirt speaks volumes that is why he was that desperate, good looks doesn't do the whole magic she thought

" Domestic violence or workplace sexual harassment, which is it?" Spence asked looking at her

"What?" Primrose screamed

I had misunderstood Cherry, she was an escort but more surprisingly, she was very intelligent.“So Mr Hale, I told you last night that you planned to dine with the devil.” She said suddenly jolting me out of my admiration.“Dine with the devil? What did we discuss last night? Infact tell me everything that happened last night after my third bottle of wine.” I said firmly. She gave me a doubtful look and focused on munching her donuts before she responded to me.“Well, I met you on the fifth bottle so we will skip what happened in my absence.”“Sure.” I responded immediately getting agitated. The suspense she was putting on me was starting to get me annoyed. I woke up in a strange bed at a low level room where I had never been before. When I looked out of the window, it turned out I was in the same trenches where I used to meet with Pamela my strategist.“Well, I walked in and I got to the bar to pick up my….client,” Spence nodded encouragingly. “Then you grabbed my shoulder and asked

  • Chapter One Hundred and Two: Outrageous Demand.

Gale crawled slowly toward Selena while he kept punching on his cellphone, he had requested for backup but he knew they had to hold out and survive before the team arrived. The man at the door became really impatient. He brought out a firearm and aimed for the door. He sprayed a few bullets in the air but none of it could penetrate the bulletproof door. “Are you going to arrest me now?”Selena’s chest tightened. Despite the fact that she tried to act tough in front of her brother and lover. She knew deep down, she was wounded. She had blamed herself severally for everything that happened while she was younger, it all didn’t make sense that she had to endure so much toxicity that she ended up as everyone’s nightmare.“No Sel, I said it earlier, I am not here as a detective.” Hale responded.Spence didn’t! He just looked sadly at his sister whose life had been ruined from the onset. He didn’t blame her, he dared not. She didn’t have the same privilege of a caring mother like Mrs Wellington. All Selena had ever done was thrive in the harsh world. He didn’t have to go through all that, all he lacked was wealth and now that he had all of that, he quite misses the old days.“How could you do that to a child?” Spence said at last.“I didn’t kill him intentionally, I just didn’t save him from harm, that’s all.” She picked up her phone and st

  • Chapter Hundred: Out Of Line

*Flashback* “I won’t condone this Pete.”Clara, Spence’s mum cried out angrily. She turned young Selena’s back and her eyes scanned through the scars that lie heavily on it, some of the parts still bleeding. She held Ryan who kept staring at the crying Selena. Peter on the other hand raised a defiant gaze and looked over at the damage he had done as if it didn’t matter at all.“She needed to be punished.” He said casually.Clara was made with rage. She picked up Ryan and took him to the other bedroom, Selena followed beside her and when she got to the room Lena, the mansion head maid came forward. Clara instructed her to treat Selena’s wound which she did gently. The other woman stared at the child’s back in awe.Her insides cringe at the thought of an adult doing that to a child.
