CHAPTER ONE

In a dimly lit room, a young man walked into the room, with a bowl of water on his hands.

It was none other than Roman Cooper.

"Here is it!" Roman dropped the bowl of water in front of his mother-in-law, Jessica Rodriguez.

Jessica Rodriguez, his mother-in-law, had requested for a bowl of water to wash her feet. It's a thing she does on a daily basis.

It is known as her normal routine.

She glanced at him in disdain, and nodded her head in response. Without looking at the bowl, she dipped her hand into the hot water.

An agonizing tone filled the room, the water had burnt her hand. Glaring contemptuously at Roman, she yelled at the top of her voice.

"You scoundrel! What have you done? You just burnt my hand, why are you so filial?" Shooting him a deadly glance, she demanded.

The rage she felt in her system couldn't be measured. She was really pissed at him.

Roman, on the other hand, didn't bother to say anything, he stood at her front calmly. His face was emotionless as he stared at his wristwatch.

It was 12:00 in the midnight, another day to begin with.

He has completed his task, and he is ready to leave. Three years ago, he had made a promise to help the Rodriguez Family to skyrock in the business world.

Now, the Rodriguez Family are known around the city as they had become the tier -2  Family, saving them from bankruptcy.

He had really fulfilled his promise, and it's time to leave.

His Mother-in-law, Jessica Rodriguez was furious seeing him standing there and saying nothing.

She blew up her top, "What are you doing there? Won't you talk, useless boy?" She yelled at the top of her voice.

Still, Roman didn't move from where he was or bother to say a word. He was just looking at her with no emotions on his face.

Due to this action, Jessica Rodriguez's anger raised twice as before, she kicked the bowl full of hot water to him.

"You idiot! How can you be rude to me? Don't you have manners!"  She gritted her teeth angrily.

Swiftly, Roman avoided the splash, and gave his Mother-in-law a hard glare then walked out of the room without uttering a single word.

Jessica became even angrier. How could he walk out of her like that?  She shouted at the top of her lungs, "Stop there, Roman! How dare you walk out on me?"

She got up from the bed, and went  up to Roman, who had stopped at the entrance while she rained some words on him.

"How ungrateful you are, Roman? The Rodriguez Family had been the one feeding you for the past three years and a place to live, and all you could do is to be rude to us!

My daughter was given to you to marry, and all you could do is to disrespect me! Who should have been praising the Rodriguez Family if not for you? Yet, you seem ungrateful.

Roman, if care is taken, and you continue to act like this, I'm going to make sure my daughter divorce you!

What am I even saying? She will be divorcing you very soon, you ungrateful being." Her words came out as a threat but Roman didn't care about it.

Roman ignored her, and tried to leave but he was dragged back by Jessica Rodriguez. She seethed angrily, "Where did you think you were going? My words don't have a response, right?"

Seeing Roman was keen on ignoring her, she picked the flower vase behind her, and attempted to hit it on his head.

Alerted, Roman quickly avoided it, and stepped aside. Due to the heavy vase, Jessica Rodriguez lost her composure, and slipped down the stairs while the flower vase fell down her hand and broke during the process.

Roman watched as his Mother-in-law, Jessica Rodriguez rolled down the stairs while still having no emotions on his face.

An agonizing cries filled the room, Jessica Rodriguez had fractured her bones, and grunting in pain.

Roman just stared at her in silence, he didn't bother to help her up to her feet as he watched her scream in agony.

"You bastard! What are you waiting for? Won't you help me to my feet? Can you see me in pain? I will call my daughter and ask her to divorce you! You are of no use to the family! An ungrateful son-in-law like you shouldn't be accommodated anymore." She yelled angrily at him.

Only then did Roman scoff, and nodded his head disdainfully. He could see how unreasonable his Mother-in-law was.

He was trying to move into his room when the front door opened, revealing a lady and a man.

The Young lady was his wife, Jennifer Rodriguez.

Her once brightened face was covered with scowls, the excitement in her voice abruptly turned in to worry.

Seeing her Mother on the ground, she rushed towards her. Quickly, she demanded, "What happened, Mother? Why are you on the floor?" Her voice was hinted with worries, and fear.

Seeing how worried her daughter looked, Jessica Rodriguez pretended to be in serious pain and cried loudly.

"Could I have fallen just like that? Your ungrateful husband hit and pushed me down the stairs. He even threatened to kill me if I mentioned it to you!" She muttered, faking tears out of her eyes.

Jennifer raised her head up to glance at Roman in an angry way.  She ran up to him, and raised her hand up to slap Roman on the face.

"Don't you dare!" Roman held her hand up in the air, and slightly pushed her away from him.

Before Jennifer could speak, Jessica Rodriguez had chimed in angrily, "Can you see how rude and animalistic your ungrateful husband is? We had given him a place to lay his head on, and a free meal everyday but see how ungrateful he is, and not only that, he dared hit me! How rude?"

Furiously, Jennifer "What have you done, Roman? Is this how you treat my mother whenever you guys are alone in the house? No matter how angry you are, you shouldn't have hit her. What gall, Roman?"

Jennifer Rodriguez is the eldest daughter of the Rodriguez Family.  Despite how beautiful and pretty she looked, she had a rude and arrogant attitude. She was the CEO of the Rodriguez Group of companies.

Roman sneered angrily, "Don't you judge me before knowing what happened!" His voice was laced with contempt, and rage.

Jennifer snapped in fury, "What are you talking about? Why have you pushed my mother? I need an explanation from you! What has my mother done to you to deserve this type of treatment??"

Roman sneered once again, "You really want to know the truth about everything, right? Why don't you check the surveillance cameras, and your questions will be answered?"His voice was a little bit rising.

With that, he climbed the stairs, and walked into his room.

"Can you see what I'm saying, Jennifer? Your husband is rude and at the same time ungrateful for the things we've done for him in the house. You need to divorce him as soon as possible. He ain't the perfect husband you are looking for!"

Hearing what Jessica Rodriguez had said, Roman scoffed ingratiatingly.  In the past three years, he was treated like a servant. Cleaning and cooking for the whole family every day, yet they see him as an ungrateful and useless son-in-law or husband.

He opened up the drawer, and brought out a brown parcel. Inside the Brown Parcel, there was a stack of papers in it. Roman pulled the papers out, and glanced at it then before walking out of the room.

The moment he closed the door behind him, he could see Jennifer standing in front of his entrance while she glared at him contemptuously.

Jennifer began to speak, "I have checked the surveillance cameras, and I saw how everything had happened. My Mother was trying to hit the flower vase on you, and you tried to avoid it which led to her fall.

Shouldn't you allow her to hit you instead of avoiding the hit? You are so despicable and disrespectful, Roman! Shouldn't you have prevented her from falling? She is an old woman, and hitting you with a vase wouldn't have caused you any harm." She spewed out angrily, while glaring at him in contempt.

Roman was dumbfounded. He couldn't mutter any words out of his word, as he stared at his wife in awe.

He never believed his wife to be as unreasonable as her mother. How could you suggest I shouldn't have avoided Jessica Rodriguez's hut? What if he got hit in the delicate part and slumped to death? What would happen to him? Would she have called him a brave or foolish man?

He nodded his head silently, he already knew them to be selfish, and unworthy. He pulled out the stack of papers  and handed them over to Jennifer.

"I have put in my signature. It remains yours! So, can you sign the paper?" He mumbled, while Jennifer hesitated before collecting the paper from him.

"What is this?" Jennifer asked, curious to know what's going on.

"Why don't you check the papers?" Roman snorted, and stared keenly at her.

The moment Jennifer took a look at the paper, she shouted. "What? A Divorce Paper?"
