Waking Up in a New World

In the snowy city of Saulon, a teenage boy bolted upright in his bed cackling like a lunatic.

"Haha, immortality is finally mine after so long, now I can live forever, nice!"

He was clearly very happy as he continued to laugh until he noticed a problem, he was no longer the strong mage he used to be, he was weak, incredibly weak.

'The soul transfer into the immortal body should have worked flawlessly, all of my power should have stayed with me and if anything I should be stronger, why am I as weak as an average person?'

As he continued to examine his body he quickly noticed more and more problems, as crisis mode began to set in the boy suddenly felt an influx of knowledge, a knowledge that should not have been there.

With a quick cursory guess, he realized the answer to all the issues that he was experiencing.

As it turned out his attempt to gain immortality by transferring his soul into a custom-made immortal body completely failed and his soul seemingly wandered around until it found someone to inhabit.

'Great, just great, now I am in the body of this guy William who is weaker than an angry granny after you didn't finish your dinner.'

As he was about to start going through his newfound memories and go about creating a plan for his new future there was suddenly a loud knock on his door which he quickly realized was a dorm room.

"William Moore get your useless ass out here or we are coming in."

The voice sounded like that of a boy of a similar age to Willam and begrudgingly he went to the door to see what kind of trouble he had inherited, even if this guy was weak did he really have to be in even more of a bad situation?

When he opened the door he saw two guys who looked very similar to each other, they were twins, and quickly from his memories he identified them as Adam and Alex Warhall. The more he recalled the more he was dumbfounded.

It turns out that all three of them are students at the Saulon Magic Academy in their senior years and these two lovely guys had lent him some money so he could pay tuition for the term two years ago and he had still not paid them back.

Worst of all, every term since then he had borrowed money from people to pay his tuition and had never paid any of them back. To put a cherry on top of the situation, he was failing 4 out of his 5 classes and had absolutely no talent for magic.

Since he was not in a position of power William tried to act nice instead of arrogant like he did in his last life as a powerful mage.

"Hey guys, I know I haven't paid you back yet but there is still time before we graduate, why don't you come back next month, I am sure I will be able to pay you then."

The two twins gave each other a sort of look before pushing their way into his room, it was clear that whatever the problem was with him, they were past the point of words.

"You have been stringing us along for 2 years and you still are shameless enough to pretend you can find a way to get money quickly? Once we graduate you can run along and we can't do anything about it but since you are here now we need to teach you a lesson. You not only won't and cannot pay us back but you even hit on our sister while owing us over 10 gold. If We do not beat your ass then who knows what you will do."

William could only watch them approach with a sorrowful expression, everything they said was true, the former William had a silver tongue and survived by scamming and swindling people with his handsome face and sweet words. Despite not having a favorable opinion of these brothers it was also certain that he deserved to have his ass beaten by them.

In fact, with his current power, he would need his entire strength and his knowledge as a formerly famous mage to be able to beat these guys, which would also cause him lots of problems since they are popular and rich.

With a devastated expression, a mage who had formerly shocked the world with amazing feats and unquestionable strength was beaten up by two high school kids.

It did not take long for them to beat him enough to sufficiently calm their anger, despite what many may think in his past life had actually been beaten up quite often before he became so powerful so it was not as mentally crushing as one might expect. Sadly it was still a massive shame for him, he was supposed to become an immortal mage but instead turned into an idiot who got beaten up by two kids for swindling them a few gold coins.

He took note of his injuries and noticed many soon-to-be bruises and a bruised rib, his entire body was sore and he felt terrible.

William knew that this beating was karma for messing with what he should not have in his past life, immortality is a very dangerous subject and he most likely effectively died in his past life. In truth he was lucky to be alive, in some ways, this beating reminded him that he is no longer the master mage who was respected and praised endlessly. Although he was not one to accept disrespect he knew that he did not have the capital to act arrogant yet in this second life.

'I will take this beating today and use it to remind me of how far I must progress to get back to where I was, if some kids come causing trouble tomorrow I will not go down without beating them at least twice as bad as I am hurt now.'

William quickly began to rest and use the weakest recovery spell he knew, it would put him to sleep and heal his wounds at an accelerated rate. It would take him almost an entire day to heal his current wounds and that was the best he could do, this caused William to both feel and look rather pathetic.

As he sailed into dreamland to begin the recovery process he had one last thought before his consciousness faded.

'Man, the Warhall sister is super hot to be fair."
