“What proof do you have that this suit is really yours?!” Another asked.

Riven glanced at him with cold eyes making him shudder visibly. “I don’t have to prove anything to anyone.”

“Hehe,” Alyssa sneered. “You have no proof, do you? Odessa, get your lying and disgusting husband in check.”

“What’s going on here?!” A high pitched voice came from behind them.

Everyone turned around and at that moment, Old Lady Chen walked into the courtyard with Aurelius and the older generations of the Chen family.

A servant hurried forward and whispered the situation into Old Lady Chen’s ear. The old woman’s expression instantly darkened.

“Are you saying that this fool claims that Elias is putting on his clothes?”

Laughter erupted throughout the courtyard.

“What nonsense is this?” Aurelius questioned, staring at both his children.

“Father, it’s true,” Alyssa responded. “I had asked why he wasn’t putting on a new pair of clothing and he decided to accuse Elias of wearing his clothes. I’m afraid we have underestimated his insanity.”

She glanced over at Old Lady Chen.

“Grandma, this is the reason why they shouldn’t be allowed to attend the banquet. What if he starts making wild accusations in front of the Zhao family? We will become the laughing stock of Kairen City.”

Several elders nodded in agreement.

Old Lady Chen’s brows furrowed.

Before she could speak, Aurelius suddenly stepped forward.

“I don’t think allowing them to come with us will ruin the image of our family,” he began.

“After all, according to him and Odessa, he’s the son of the Wei family. What more better way to get to the bottom of this than to take him with us to the Zhao’s banquet—”

A smile tugged at his lips as his gaze shifted towards Odessa.

“—and if really he is the Wei’s family heir, most of the families in Kairen City will see us as generous people for taking him under our wing and we would get benefits from the Zhao family.”

Elias and Alyssa immediately understood their father’s intentions and let out a smirk.

This could either be a humiliation ritual for Odessa and also an uplifting experience for their family. Either way, if anything were to go sideways, Odessa will take the blame.

Old Lady Chen thought about it for a moment before nodding.

“Very well.”

Her hard gaze landed on Odessa.

“Since your husband enjoys creating trouble, neither of you will ride with family.”

Odessa’s expression changed.

“Grandma—”

“That’s final!”

The old woman pointed toward an old vehicle parked near the far end of the estate.

“Take that car.”

The entire younger generation bursted into laughter. Everyone in the family knew the vehicle had been abandoned years ago because it constantly broke down when being driven.

Old Lady Chen turned and left without another word.

“Enjoy your ride,” Alyssa snickered.

Soon, luxury vehicles began leaving the estate one after another.

Only Odessa and Riven remained behind.

Odessa stared at the rusted vehicle for a long moment before letting out a tired sigh.

“You really shouldn’t have said those things.”

Riven glanced at her.

“Which things?”

“About the suit.”

Odessa rubbed her forehead.

“I know my family can be difficult, but claiming Elias is wearing your clothes only gave them another reason to mock you.”

Her voice softened slightly.

“After the banquet, I’ll buy you new clothes myself.”

Silence followed.

Riven pursed his lips.

For a brief moment, he had thought Odessa would believe him.

Instead, she had reached the same conclusion as everyone else.

Without another word, he walked toward the old vehicle.

Odessa hesitated before following behind him.

There had to be one!He had deliberately assigned three projects that should have taken at least a week to complete so he could chase her away! How had she done it in a single night?!Meanwhile, George had already opened the second file. The next morning, all department supervisors had gathered in Elias’ office. No one knew the exact reason for the meeting but rumors seem to spread faster than facts. “I heard Ms. Chen couldn’t finish those reports.” “Of course she couldn’t. Three major projects overnight? We all know that’s impossible.” “Elias probably just wants everyone to witness her failure.” … Meanwhile in Elias’ office… Elias lowered himself into the executive chair, slowly turning it from side to side, a smug smile tugging on his lips. “So…” he began, crossing both legs over the desk. “What do you think about my first day as manager?” The supervisors exchanged glances, no one spoke until— “Impressive, Elias. I must commend you, really…” Everyone turned towards the owner of the voice. Marcus Liu, the head of the procurement department, stood out with a patronising smile. “To be honest, many of us here have been waiting for someone with courage…” he trailed off. “Indeed!” Another voice so

Meanwhile, on the eighteenth floor in Odessa’s former office, Elias lowered himself slowly into the leather chair, his fingers glided across the polished surface of the large mahogany table, a satisfied smile spreading across his face.“Finally, this is all mine.”At that moment, a soft knock sounded on the door.“Come in.”Assistant Lily stepped inside carrying a stack of documents. “Manager Elias, these are the files requiring your approval this afternoon.”Elias barely looked at the files, his eyes fixed solely on Lily as he licked his lower lip in a provocative gesture.“How come I haven’t noticed how beautiful you look?”Lily looked thrown. Her brows shot up instantly in confusion, thinking she had heard wrong, she said, “Sir?”Elias slowly stood up and walked around the desk towards her.
