“Father, I—“
For the first time since entering into the courtroom, Valentin had gone speechless. He swallowed thickly, his palms becoming sweaty as his body shook with fear and tension. All around him, everyone gasp at the content of the news. Pictures of Valentin at different gambling houses, losing money filled the internet as well as close up snapshots of him and the secetary he had slept with to get secrets about a rival company in bed. The stock of the Gao Company was going down by the minute as every media outlet carried this hot news. “Valentin, answer me!” His father roared once more. “Who have you offended? The Company is losing its shareholders because of your foolishness!” “Father…. listen to me…. I am being framed!” Valentin stammered in panic. “Don’t believe whatever you see. They are all lies! Those photos might have made using AI.” “AI?! Do you think we are foolish?! Come over here right away and explain all these to your grandfather and pray to the heavens that he doesn’t disown you. You good for nothing!” The call went dead instantly. People who had been supporting Valentin a few minutes ago were now staring at him with suspicion as they spoke amongst themselves. Who would have thought that the philanthropist who they had been asslicking actually had skeletons in his wardrobe? Valentin’s face reddened with anger as he glared at Riven. “I don’t know how you did this but trust me, you will regret this!” He threatened before hurrying away like his pants were on fire. Silence returned to the courthouse. Elias looked flustered as he cleared his throat. “Well, that was quite unfortunate,” he glanced up at Riven. “But exposing Valentin has nothing to do with proving your identity! If anything, you are trying to switch the attention of all of us—“ He looked at the crowd. “—this fraud’s way goes deeper than we all thought. He must have obtained confidential information about the Gao family illegally or he must have some help to manipulate this situation! Either way, he has still refused to show us the mark.” “Yes! That’s indeed true,” Damian, one of those who had suspected Valentin said. “He definitely got help from someone outside to expose Young Master Gao!” “We must still look for the mark!” “Get rid of this nuisance immediately!” As the men advanced towards him once more based on Elias’ urging, Riven’s fist clenched at his sides as he stared at them all. His expression darkened. At that moment, Odessa instantly stood in front of him. She looked at Elias with a frown. “I think you have caused enough ruckus here, Elias.” Elias furrowed a brow. “What do you mean?” He glanced at Odessa and then at Riven, a smirk playing at his lips. “Or are you against us finding out the truth against this man because you had hired him as a actor to play the part of the Wei’s heir so you can decieve grandma?” Odessa’s face went red instantly at the accusation. “What are you saying?!” She snapped. “How can I do such a thing? If you keep accusing me wrongly, I will call grandma right now and tell her about your friendship with Valentin Gao. Who knows maybe you too must have stolen money from the company to fund your personal ventures.” Elias’s face flustered once more, his jaw grinding against each other as he glared at the couple. “This isn’t over yet, Odessa. Don’t think grandma will be in support of your so-called wedding!” He sneered. With that, Elias walked out of the courthouse angrily with his minions behind him. Peace slowly returned back to the courtroom. The registrar stared at the couple. “Shall we proceed with the ceremony?” Odessa glanced at Riven with uncertainty. “Who are you really?” Riven’s calm gaze raked over her for a moment before responding. “The man your grandfather had chosen for you.” Seeing that Odessa wasn’t satisfied with his answer, Riven hesitatingly revealed the birthmark to Odessa. Odessa released a sigh of a relief as her doubts began to disappear. “We can proceed.” The soft slap of the stamp on the marriage certificate sealed their fates as a married couple. Odessa stared at the certificate with mixed feelings. Just as they were about leaving, the blaring ringing tone of a phone cut through the silence in the air. Odessa reached into her purse and retrieved her phone. “Grandma—“ “ODESSA CHEN!” Came a very loud authoritative voice. “If you return to the manor with that thing you call a husband, be prepared to lose the position you so desperately desire!” The call instantly dead. Odessa’s face went pale as she lowered the phone slowly. She looked up at Riven and said quietly, “My family is waiting for us.”Latest Chapter

Orion stared straight at Harold. “Mr. Geng, are you purposely attacking me for some reason?”Harold opened his mouth to speak but was cut off by him.“Riven invited me here and as sworn brothers I decided to honor his invitation,” he added.“Riven? How can this low life get an invite?” Valentin said with disbelief. Riven ignored him and handed the security guard his invitation card. Everyone watched closely as they checked the authenticity of the invitation card.“Mr. Zhao, Mr. Wei, you may go in,” the security guard said respectfully.“What?! Did you check the card very well?” Valentin said, wide eyed. “That invitation has to be a fake.”Riven’s brow furrowed slightly. “Mr. Gao, are you trying to say the guards are incompetent? If that’s what you are implying then you might as well be insulting the Wang family who made the arrangements.”“You…!” Valentin went breet red. “That’s not what I meant!”“That’s enough,” the chief security guard cuts in. “Mr. Gao, you are here without an

Valentin’s voice was quite loud as he accused Riven and most of the guests stopped to stare. He glanced at the crowd and grew bolder.“Yes. Don’t deny it. Do you really think we will believe that a freeloader like you would be able to afford the Villa?”“But I bought it. Your salesperson authorized the transaction and if you really think I stole the Villa, why haven’t I be thrown out yet?” Riven asked with a raised brow.Valentin’s face went red as he bit hard on his lower lip.Riven’s lips curled up in a smirk.“Or has your asslicking gone from bad to worse in a matter of days.”“You…!” Valentin was furious. What right does this man have to speak to me in that manner?Harold exhaled a sharp breath.“Forget it. We are getting late, we will settle these matters later.”“Yes, Young Master Geng,” Valentin responded respectfully.Harold glanced over at Orion. “If you still insist on bringing him in, don’t say we didn’t warn you. But we both know the Xu family will not like this and the co

Riven glanced at him, puzzled. Mavin had told him that the Wang family usually extends invitations to the sworn families in Kairen City but only the Geng family attends the auction. The Mori family and the Zhao family have never been in support of such acts but still receive invitations.“What do you mean?”Orion released a sigh before responding.“Riven, the ties between the sworn families aren’t as strong as they were decades ago. The Zhao family has issues with the Xu family especially because of this act so naturally we won’t be receiving invitations from them. My grandfather cut ties with them before he died.”Riven gave an understanding nod. “Alright. Well, the invitation allows for a plus one so you can be my plus one.”“Sure,” Orion smiled. …Raisins Entertainment Hall. The jaguar pulled up at the entrance of the building which was swarming with different luxurious cars and important people dressed in high end designer clothing. The last time Riven had come here it was to re

“Their entertainment homes…” Mavin continued. “…are where most of the trafficked ladies are forced to work and since the Wang family has declined significantly due to our actions, they are relaying on this auction to make money.”“Okay. I will like to go, make the necessary arrangements,” Riven said, picking up his phone to send a message to Orion asking if he would like to attend the auction with him and he responded with a positive answer almost immediately.“Alright Master Wei.”…The Pinnacle Villa. The dining hall was swirling with the aroma of fresh food that made Odessa’s stomach grumble as she stepped into the house.Following the smell, she walked into the hall and found Riven arranging cutleries with an apron tied around his waist. He looked like a typical househusband and it brought a smile to her tired face.“Riven, what’s all these?” She asked, staring at the different array of delicious looking food that was steaming hot.Riven’s face went red.“Ugh, the housekeeper call

Meanwhile, outside the conference room the people who had left after Desmond Liu did surrounded him.“Mr. Liu, wasn’t your actions impulsive right now? What if she reports this to the headquarters, we will be implicated,” One of them said with fear in his eyes.“Are you scared?” Desmond asked with a cold scoff. “She can’t do anything to me. The company needs me and she knows it. All we should be doing right now is looking for ways to frustrate her into leaving.”“That’s true, Mr. Liu. Some of us are older than her and we have more experience. What right does she think she has to lead the company?” Another chimed in with hatred coating his voice. “Good thinking, Zane,” Desmond said with a smile. “This is the kind of mentality all of us should be having. If I become the general manager or more less the CEO of this company, you all can be rest assured that you will get benefits from me.”“Ah, Mr. Liu, you’re so generous.”“You are more deserving of that position, Mr. Liu.”“Even if she

Elias’ face suddenly went sullen. Although they had migrated from Aurora Corporation to Chen group and were trying to build it up, they had encountered many difficulties on the way.“Grandma, Davis Corporation called us to tell us that they are terminating their contract with us. They are the twentieth company that wants to terminate cooperation with us over the past few days.”“Most of these people have heard about our riff with the Sterling Corporation and they are turning their backs on us,” Alyssa sulked.“This is embarrassing. They are all just a bunch of cowards. Davis Corporation used to be worse than the Chen group and they sucked up to us to obtain a cooperation with us and now, they are dumping us,” Elias spat out angrily, forgetting the now receding pain on his cheeks.“Enough. This is how life works and there’s nothing to be angry about,” Old Lady Chen spoke. “The person responsible for all this is Odessa and the important thing that should be on our minds is getting the
