The soft glow of the DragonCom panel faded into the walls as the message ended. Jack, Sarah, and Emily sat quietly around the dinner table, the hum of the city outside a distant comfort. The stars no longer the only frontier—they had opened the heavens. Now, the ocean called.

Emily pushed her empty bowl away and stood, stretching. "I have to finish the final recalibration for the reef sensors before we dive. They’ve been drifting south by half a meter."

Jack leaned back, swirling the last of his wine. "Still worried about the current’s interference with the dome anchors?"

"That, and the tiger sharks nesting closer to sector 4." Emily walked toward the control deck with practiced urgency. "I’ll meet you both at the bay level in twenty."

Sarah looked at Jack as Emily disappeared through the sliding door. "Do you ever get the feeling she loves the ocean more than anything?"

Jack smiled. "Not more than anything. But close."

They arrived at the launch bay deep beneath Dragon Corporation’s

The two warriors met in a thunderous clash, Dragon Dagger and Bloodfang Saber colliding in a burst of light so bright it seared through the dust storm. Jackson pressed his hand against the glass, eyes wide with awe and terror. “Dad…”Emily whispered, “He’s not human anymore—he’s the storm.”The ceiling cracked—massive slabs beginning to fall.Jack bared his teeth, eyes blazing brighter than the Martian sky. “For my family… for every soul you threatened…”Khar’zek growled, saber shaking against the dagger. “Then come, Parker. Take your destiny!”The cavern exploded in light and thunder as the duel surged anew—emerald and crimson locked in a dance that would decide Mars itself.Khar’zek lunged, saber humming like a predator’s growl. The light faded, revealing the two titans still standing—battered, bleeding, but unbowed. Emerald aura flared around Jack’s battered frame, whipping dust into spirals. Khar’zek’s crimson saber burned hotter, his armored chest heaving.Jack’s cracked visor let Martian frost curl around his face. His breath was shallow, almost nonexistent. The oxygen gauge flickered zeroes—but he moved anyway, every fiber alive with Old Joe’s fire.Inside the DragonGP, alarms screeched. Emily steadied the controls against the quakes. Sarah clutched the console. “He’s out of air. He should already be—”“Dead?” Lena’s voice was sharp. “He isn’t. You’re watching a god in motion.”Jackson pressed his forehead to the viewport. “Come on, Dad… show him.”On the cavern floor, Khar’zek tilted his head, golden eyes narrowing. “You walk beyond the limits of flesh. What are you?”Jack wiped blood from his lip with the back of his glove. “Just a stubborn dad with promises to keep.”He lunged. The Dragon Dagger sang,

The cavern quaked again, a roar deep beneath Mars’s crust shaking dust from the crimson ceiling. Emerald and crimson light blazed as Jack Parker and Khar’zek locked blades—Dragon Dagger against Bloodfang Saber—each strike booming like thunder.Above, the DragonGP hovered unsteady, its thrusters whining against the turbulence. Sparks flickered across its hull. Inside the cockpit, Emily’s hands gripped the flight yoke, knuckles white.“Stabilizers at seventy percent,” she muttered. “This cavern’s tearing itself apart.”Sarah swallowed hard, gaze glued to Jack’s dwindling oxygen reading on the HUD feed. “He’s bleeding out, Emily.”“Don’t say it,” Lena whispered. “He hears doubt even when we whisper.”At the rear, Jackson Parker—Jack’s son—pressed his small palms to the viewport. His voice cracked. “Dad’s gonna win… right?”Matilda crouched beside him, trying to sound confident. “Your dad’s the strongest man I know, kid.” But her own heart pounded a different rhythm: fear.On the cavern f

The cavern quaked beneath their charge. Emerald and crimson streaks collided mid-air, a shockwave cracking a fresh fissure through the crystal floor. Dust geysered upward, momentarily swallowing them in a sandstorm of red grit and shards.Out of the haze, Khar’zek’s Bloodfang Saber slashed downward, a blazing comet-stroke. Jack pivoted, the tip grazing his helmet and carving a molten groove across his visor. Alarm lights danced across his HUD: VISOR DAMAGE – VISIBILITY COMPROMISED. His next breath tasted of metal and frost.“Close your eyes,” Old Joe’s voice urged inside his skull. “Feel the rhythm, not the light.”Jack obeyed—sliding sideways blind, dagger sweeping in a green crescent that carved a shallow line across Khar’zek’s chest. Blue acid spattered, hissing where it hit stone. The warlord snarled, twisting his saber in a reverse grip and driving forward with bone-crushing speed. Jack dropped to one knee, let the blade scream past his ear, and sprang upward with an elbow that c

Jack’s HUD pulsed a frantic crimson: O₂ 1.8 %… 1.7 %… Every breath rasped like sandpaper over raw lungs. Frost hissed on his cracked visor with each exhale. By all rights, his body should have been shutting down. But Old Joe’s voice thrummed inside him—steady, commanding, alive. Ignore the numbers. You’re more than bone and breath now. You are the storm. Emerald light flared from Jack’s eyes, bright enough to stain the fractured crystal floor green. The Dragon Dagger vibrated in his palm, a living thing hungry for the fight. Across the collapsing cavern, Khar’zek—the Smilodon warlord—hauled his massive frame upright, blue acid still hissing from half a dozen wounds Jack had carved. Yet the alien’s golden gaze burned hotter, undimmed. The surrounding Smilodons ringed the battlefield in silence, their guttural growls suppressed by awe. Even wounded, their warlord inspired reverence. Even bleeding, he looked immortal. Khar’zek’s translator rasped, static-laced: “Your defiance shame

The cavern shuddered like a living thing. Red dust sifted down in lazy spirals, catching the glare of emerald lightning and flickering plasma. The Smilodon leader’s claws glowed brighter—sparks dancing across its massive forearms as energy coiled inside it like a storm. The other aliens froze in a wide circle, their snarls hushed to low, guttural rumbles. Even wounded, their warlord commanded their respect.Ryan, breathing hard and clutching his plasma spear like a crutch, staggered two steps back. “It’s… drawing power from the cavern… Jack, it’s about to—”Jack cut him off with a raised hand, never taking his eyes off the beast. “Stay back, Ryan. This one’s between me and him.”The alien’s translator hissed, carrying its venomous words through the static: “You desecrate sacred ground. Mars belongs to my bloodline. I am Khar’zek, Warlord of the Crimson Sands. You will die before you steal our sky.”Jack’s lips curved into a grim smirk. The Dragon Dagger pulsed in his grip, its emerald
