Demon Lieutenant

The demon raised his hand and pointed to the old man with a smile and a dark flame gradually condensed on his finger. As he saw this he tried to move but he found that he was frozen and as he was struggling, the dark flame shot towards him.

The old man closed his eyes as he thought." Is this how I die" He waited but nothing happened so he opened his eyes.

The demon was gone but where did the dark flames go he wondered, he thought of something and turned his head and what he saw made him shiver in fright. All the trees behind him had disintegrated, after seeing this he didn't even want to stay here for one minute so he left but as he was leaving he didn't notice a wisp of dark flame that entered his body.

In the town, James was in the city lord's mansion talking to a handsome young man.

"So you are telling me that you escaped from a horse of monsters and their king?" The handsome man asked James with a suspicious look on his face.

"Yes I have a high grade wind talent and I have been practicing very hard so I am very fast" James lied again.

"I don't know if you are telling the truth so I will like you to prove to me by defeating me,but if you are scared I will understand " The handsome man said to James with a smirk.

James knew that the handsome man was trying to provoke him so he accepted so that he could prove his strength."Okay I accept your challenge"

The handsome man led James to a huge training space which had a weapons rack and asked James to pick a weapon but James refused and told him that his fists were enough.

'Hmm I will teach you to be arrogant ' The handsome man thought to himself with a dark expression.

When James saw this he couldnt help but give a light laugh as he lied to the handsome man "I don't mean any disrespect but I train in martial arts so I prefer using my fists to using any weapons".

"Okay I will make it a fair fight by not using any skills" The handsome man said to James and went into a battle stance.

James also went into a battle stance as he planned to take this fight seriously because from the handsome's man's stance he knew that he was an experienced fighter and he was proven to be right because the next moment, the handsome man rushed at James with incredible speed and the fight started.

The handsome man used a long sword so James had a hard time attacking so he switched to the defensive because he didn't want the man to know his real strength.

The man kept slashing his sword at James but James kept blocking his sword as if he knew where he would strike and after sometime, the speed of the man started to slow down and he started to reveal flaws.

When James spotted the flaws, he smiled and continued to fight and after some time he suddenly threw a fast kick at the man which surprised the man,but he quickly recovered and tried to block it and as he was about to block it,the kick stopped halfway which caught him off guard and what followed was a punch which was so fast that the man couldn't see it but he could feel the breeze on his face.

The man closed his eyes and waited for the punch to hit him but nothing happened he opened his eyes and saw James fist only an inch away from his face.

"I have lost the fight " The man said to James in a respectful tone."I only won because you weren't attacking me with your full strength otherwise I wouldn't have won" James said humbly.

"I know that you were not even taking the fight seriously otherwise I wouldn't have lasted more than 10 moves" The man said to James with a deep look.

The man was about to ask James something when a guard rushed to the man with a panicked expression.

"City lord there is a large horde of monsters unlike any we have ever heard of before moving towards our direction" The guard said to the handsome man.

"Why is it unlike any that we have faced before?" The city lord asked the guard with a serious expression."We identified five monster kings among the horde" The guard said with fear in his voice.

"Gather the espers and prepare the city for the worst and also pit it on lockdown" The city lord paused and stared at James before continuing "Please I ask you on behalf of the city to help defend our city".

"Yeah sure it's not like I have a choice "James said with a friendly smile.The city lord thanked him and left to prepare for the fight.

As the city lord was about to leave, James suddenly asked him." How long will it take the monster horde to reach the city".

"According to the guard who saw them while he was scouting, it will take maybe 2 to 3 days for the horde to reach" The city lord answered and left.

"That's enough time for me" James said to himself.When it became dark, the city lord sent a servant to invite James to have dinner with him because he had started to view James as an equal, but James turned down the invitation with the excuse of training.

The moment the servant left, James jumped out his window and in the cover of the night, he left the town without anyone noticing.

In reality, there were several old men moving with lightening speed in a forest and the one leading them was surprisingly the old man who was almost killed by the demon.

After moving for sometime, the leader stopped moving and the others also stopped but it wasn't because the leader stopped,it was because before them what used to be part of the forest had become a plain land, It was as if all the trees had somehow disappeared.

"You..said that it caused... all this whiit ..one attack" One of the men said in a shaky voice filled with fear.

"Yes I still shiver in fright when I remember that day, I almost died but I still don't know why he spared my life" The old man said as he shivered.

In a dark cave, a demon knelt before an alter and on the alter was a figure made of dark thick flames that looked like it could disintegrate anything.

"My lord I have arrived at my destination and I have already started commenced the mission, the demon flame has already been placed in the body of a human and it should have started to take effect already" The demon said to the figure and if the old man was here, he would have recognized the demon as the one which almost killed him.

"Good job, you shall be rewarded for your hard work, O hail the demon Emperor " The figure said in a voice that gave one goosebumps.

"O Hail the demon Emperor, thank you demon lieutenant the show has just began " The demon said with a wild laugh.

In the forest, after the demon finished talking the old man in the woods fell to the ground and started twitching in pain. " What's wrong, are you okay?" One of the old men asked with concern.

After twitching for sometime the old man became still and as his friends thought he was dead they approached him and when the reached 2 feet away from him, they started twitching and they also fell to the ground and became still.

The old man stood up with a grin as his eyes became red..He stretched his hand forward and from the bodies of the old men came a red light which entered his body and his face changed to a younger more handsome one.

"Haha the show has just begun" The man said with a wicked laugh.

In the forest, James was rushing forward at his top speed and behind him was a large horde of beast.He stopped after running for sometime and took out his sword. "That's far enough,now let the show begin" He said with a laugh.
