Marvin clearly heard the robotic voice. He wondered what it was.

Suddenly, he felt something happen to his body. As if something was pushing his body upwards. And not only that, his body suddenly felt warm.

[Initiating emergency rescue process.]

[Master must be immediately returned to the surface to breathe.]

The same voice, from nowhere.

Marvin opened his eyes, and strangely, this time he didn’t feel the pressure of the water on his eyes. It was as if he was opening his eyes on the surface, not underwater.

And soon after, he emerged from the lake, leaping high like a dolphin, then landing back where he was lying earlier.

He immediately filled his lungs with air, gasping. Then he heard the robotic voice again.

[Rescue process completed.]

[Master’s life is no longer in danger.]

[Proceeding to the next stage: physical strength enhancement.]

[Ding!]

Suddenly, Marvin felt a strong electric shock, causing his body to writhe.

But it only lasted for a moment. After the electric shock sensation disappeared, he felt refreshed and strong.

[Physical strength enhancement completed.]

[Master can now easily break the bonds on his hands and feet.]

With a doubtful expression, Marvin tried to move his hands and feet. And just like that, the thick ropes snapped.

Marvin sat up, then stood.

‘What the hell is happening to me? Is this real? I’m not hallucinating right now?’

Marvin examined his body from head to toe, and he just realized that he was no longer wet. It didn’t make sense, considering how quickly he had sunk and nearly died moments before.

‘Seriously, what the hell is this?’

Before Marvin could find an answer, he heard footsteps approaching.

He raised his face, finding the two debt collectors who had drowned him in the lake standing there, a dozen meters in front of him, staring at him as if he were a ghost.

“No way! How could this happen?!” exclaimed the bald one.

“He fell into the lake earlier, right? He should have drowned, right?” added the short-haired one.

They looked at each other for a moment, then back at Marvin, disbelieving what they were seeing.

Seeing them, Marvin’s hands immediately clenched into fists. The fire of anger within him burned him.

[FIRST MISSION.]

[Master must eliminate the two men in front of him.]

[Time limit: 30 minutes.]

[Reward: 10 million dollars.]

Marvin’s eyes widened. Although he didn’t know what these robotic voices he kept hearing were exactly, one thing he could be sure of: he was being guided to solve his problems.

And indeed, he felt so strong. He felt he could easily take down those two debt collectors.

“You tried to kill me earlier. Now, I’m going to kill you,” Marvin said, his voice trembling.

The two debt collectors gasped. For some reason, Marvin’s current appearance was terrifying, vastly different from before.

And then Marvin ran towards them. His eyes were like a predator’s.

“Damn you! Don’t think we’re afraid of you!” shouted the bald one, mustering his courage.

“R-right. I don’t know how you survived, but we’re going to beat you up and drown you again!” added the short-haired one.

Their words meant nothing, as Marvin made them collapse with just one punch each.

Smack! Smack!

The two debt collectors vomited blood, falling to their knees while clutching their stomachs.

Before them, Marvin stood tall, his eyes blazing.

Smack! Smack!

Marvin delivered a kick to each of them.

There was no time to dodge or block. The two debt collectors collapsed, unmoving. They died with their eyes wide open.

[Ding!]

[Mission complete. Time remaining: 25 minutes.]

[Reward granted to Master.]

Marvin felt his phone vibrate. He checked it, finding a notification about 10 million dollars that had just entered his account.

His pupils dilated. His hand holding the phone trembled.

‘My money has really increased. 10 million dollars. Just as the reward promised earlier. So, this is really real?’

Marvin uttered these murmurs and questions in his heart. No one answered him. He only heard the rustling of the wind.

Marvin took a deep breath, putting his phone in his pants pocket.

‘Alright. At least I’ve escaped death. And 10 million dollars just entered my account. I should be grateful for these two things,’ he thought.

Marvin directed his gaze at the two debt collectors. He had killed them, but he didn’t feel disturbed at all. Should he be grateful for this one too?

“You have to get rid of their bodies, Marvin,” he told himself.

He dragged them both to the edge of the lake. Using a method similar to what the two debt collectors had used on him, he drowned them both in the lake.

More than an hour later, Marvin arrived at his flat.

The flat he lived in was a cheap one, with damage here and there and peeling paint on the walls.

He had been forced to stay in such a place to cut down on monthly expenses, so he could still buy things for Melanie and maintain their relationship.

“Now look, Melanie dumped you, and she doesn’t care at all about your sacrifices,” Marvin said, mocking himself.

Marvin closed the door and dropped his body onto the bed.

It had been a truly annoying day for him. A day he desperately wanted to forget.

But on the other hand, he had also experienced something magical. And for this… he might not need to forget it.

Marvin frowned and narrowed his eyes. “But was that real?”

He took out his phone and checked his savings balance. “It’s still there. That 10 million dollars is still there.”

To ensure he could use the money, he opened a marketplace app and bought a rather expensive watch.

Ding!

The purchase was successful. His savings balance decreased by nearly 100 thousand dollars.

Marvin’s eyes widened. A faint smile appeared on his face.

“This money is real too. I can use it,” he muttered.

Instantly, Marvin felt his body become so light. He had spent his savings to please Melanie. Now, at least, he had gotten it back.

“Now I will use my money carefully,” Marvin said. “I need to make this money grow. But how? Should I invest some of it? But I don’t know anything about the stock market. I might lose all my money for nothing.”

[Ding!]

[SECOND MISSION]

[Tomorrow, Master must visit a noodle shop in the Chinatown area of Murndale called ‘Bowl of Heaven’.]

[Invest at least 5 million dollars there.]

[Reward: 1000 times the turnover of ‘Bowl of Heaven’ on the third day after the investment is made.]

[Punishment: a reduction of savings balance by up to 90%.]

  • Do I Look Like I'm Joking?

High in a penthouse at the city’s heart, Alex and Melanie moved together with fierce intensity upon the wide, broad bed.“Ohh… ohh… so deep…”Melanie rode above him, rising and falling, her hands kneading her own breasts. Alex growled low, his palms roaming over her hips and belly. This had not been planned. She had been waiting for him the moment he walked through the door—pulling him down, kissing him hungrily, before he could even speak. Moments later they were naked in bed, bodies joined, moving with desperate, burning need.It was fast, hard, and breathless. In less than half an hour they reached their peak together, as one. Melanie fell away to lie beside him, chest heaving.“Not like you to be so aggressive,” Alex said, glancing at her with a faint, knowing smirk. “Something troubling you?”Normally it was Alex who took charge—who was the more demanding, the more forceful, the wilder of the two.And his guess was right. Melanie was angry. Furious, in fact.“This afternoon… I we

  • Manage Your Expectations

The ordeal at the two‑storey house with the wide garage was finally over. Walter ordered his men to dispose of the bodies of Baron and Josh. Marvin turned his full attention to Emily and Lisa.“So you are Emily’s cousin? And you came here to escape your stepfather?” Marvin asked.“That’s right. More or less,” Lisa replied. Her gaze still carried a trace of suspicion. But after all Marvin had done for her, her manner was no longer cold.Marvin glanced at Emily. “You intend to take her to your flat? She’ll live with you there… until she finds somewhere to stay?”Emily looked at Lisa. “We haven’t discussed it yet. We barely had time to speak before that tall, big man appeared. So for now… yes. I’ll take her home with me.”Marvin nodded and looked back at Lisa. She was so young, and so timid. In a busy city like Murndale, she was exactly the kind of woman predators preyed upon.“Then let me drive you there. Should we go now?”Emily and Lisa looked at each other and nodded, almost in uniso

  • Any Last Words?

It was none other than Walter. He strode down the steps into the basement. Though he carried no pistol or weapon of any kind, his presence alone bore down on the Black Skull members like a weight.Baron was less shaken, yet his eyes blazed with clear alarm. He turned to face his boss.“Baron, what the hell were you doing here? What did I order you to do?” Walter’s voice boomed, sharp and commanding. He fixed Baron with a glare that could have cut steel.Baron opened his mouth… then closed it again, swallowing hard. “You told me to bring these guys here… to help Marvin, Boss.”“Then what in heaven’s name do I see? Why are they pointing guns at him?!”“That is because…” Baron paused, searching for a plausible lie. But then he thought, why lie any longer? This could be the right moment to make Walter see the truth, that Marvin did not belong in the Black Skull.“Because…?” Walter’s voice cracked like a whip. He stood fully upon the basement floor now.Baron drew a breath. “So sorry, Bos

  • No Better Option

Marvin narrowed his eyes, standing and scanning every man there. These were unmistakably the members of the Black Skull. Yet by their stance and the look in their eyes, they answered entirely to Baron.“This is not surprising at all,” Marvin said calmly. “I expected this moment to come.”Baron smirked and stepped forward slowly. “We have unfinished business. Now seems like the perfect time to settle it.”Marvin replied nothing. He only offered a cold, knowing smile of his own.“Marvin… aren’t these… the same men who caused trouble at the Bowl of Heaven the other day?” Emily asked, her voice tight with alarm.Marvin glanced at her briefly. She was sitting close to Lisa—who looked bewildered, still struggling to understand what was happening.“Stay right where you are, both of you. Don’t worry. You’ll be safe,” Marvin told them, steady and unshaken. He turned his gaze back to Baron and his men. If this was to be the fight… then so be it. He would not hesitate to kill them—Baron above al

Half an hour had passed since Walter dropped away from the black SUV. He leaned back and lit his third cigarette, smoke curling into the air.‘Something is not right,’ he told himself. His mind had been fixed on Marvin ever since, wondering what state he was in. Had he won the fight? Had he found the woman he came for? However strong Marvin was, Walter’s worry would not fade. Marvin had gone in blind with rage. And he knew more than anyone, anger could be a fatal flaw.‘I hope this is just a foolish thought of mine,’ Walter thought. But the feeling clung to him, stubborn as ever. With every exhale of smoke, he pictured Marvin down there, alone. He only hoped Baron had moved fast, sending his men to help him.Meanwhile, Baron had just arrived at the two‑storey house with the wide garage. He stood in the yard with some twenty members of the Black Skull—all armed with pistols. Baron had drawn his own and racked the slide. His gaze settled on the black SUV parked before the closed garag

  • Rest In Hell

The bullets tore toward him, fast and true—at a range where no one should ever have stood unscathed.Marvin should have crumpled then, bleeding out. Instead he stood perfectly still. One hand rose before him, clenched as though catching something.Josh’s eyes bulged. He could not believe what he was seeing. Marvin stood untouched, unmoved. Where had every bullet gone?“Surprised?” Marvin sneered. “Confused?”He opened his palm, and a handful of bullets clattered to the floor.“What the hell…”Josh stared in utter disbelief. Marvin lowered his hand and kept walking forward.“You’d better brace yourself, because I will beat you within an inch of your life… before I finish you off,” Marvin said, his voice cold as ice.Having caught every round fired at him, he knew he already won this fight. The System had done far more than cloak him; it had sharpened his speed to something beyond human comprehension.“No way this is happening! This must be some kind of trick,” Josh muttered, blinking h
