Marvin frowned and narrowed his eyes again. A noodle shop? Invest 5 million dollars? Did he really have to do that?
Marvin had been to the Chinatown area of Murndale city once when he took Melanie out for lunch there, but he didn’t know of a noodle shop called ‘Bowl of Heaven’. Was this second mission a real mission?
For some reason, he was hesitant. But he had clearly heard about the “reduction of savings balance by up to 90%” as punishment. Would the remaining money in his account automatically decrease by 90% if he didn’t do what was asked of him tomorrow?
“Hmm, I guess I will find it when I get to that noodle shop tomorrow,” Marvin mumbled.
He closed his eyes, trying to sleep.
…
The next day, in the Chinatown area on the outskirts of Murndale.
Marvin was walking around there in his everyday clothes – a t-shirt, jeans, and a hat.
At first glance, seen from afar, he looked like a homeless person. No one would have guessed he had nearly 10 million dollars in his savings account.
Marvin walked along the sidewalk, glancing left and right, looking for the noodle shop called “Bowl of Heaven.” Not finding it, he clicked his tongue in annoyance, doubting his second mission again.
The weather that day was hot and dry. He was thirsty and hungry. Marvin considered stopping at another shop if he couldn’t find the noodle shop he was looking for within the next five minutes.
But finally, he found it. Bowl of Heaven. It turned out to be a small noodle shop, seemingly not long established. There was nothing special about the shop, at least from what Marvin could see.
Marvin entered the noodle shop. The tables there were empty. No waiter greeted him. The only person there was a middle-aged man about his father’s age. The man was sitting behind the cashier counter, his head tilted back and eyes closed.
“Excuse me. Is this shop still open?” Marvin asked.
The middle-aged man was startled. He almost fell. He quickly stood up and came out from behind the counter, approaching Marvin.
“Good afternoon, Sir. Of course, we are still open. Would you like to eat here? Come, I’ll take you to your table.”
The man guided Marvin to a table near the wall, pulling out one of the chairs for Marvin to sit on.
“What would you like to eat, Sir?” the middle-aged man asked.
Marvin thought for a moment, then said, “Your signature dish. I’ll have one.”
“Alright, Sir. We’ll make it right away,” the man replied, his eyes sparkling, then he went into the kitchen.
Marvin sighed. He looked around.
Unlike its name, the shop looked worrying. Marvin hesitated to invest his money there. In three days, what would be the turnover of this noodle shop that looked like it was about to go bankrupt?
And what if the turnover was negative, meaning a loss? Would that mean Marvin would also bear this loss – 1000 times over?
Marvin shook his head. That would be very bad if it happened.
The middle-aged man came out of the kitchen, but he wasn’t carrying anything. He just nodded and smiled at Marvin, then went back behind the cashier counter.
Marvin glanced at the kitchen. He guessed there was at least one more person in this noodle shop – the cook.
And after a while, this cook – a woman with narrow eyes and a ponytail – came out of the kitchen, serving Marvin’s order in a white bowl on a tray.
‘It seems this cook is also moonlighting as a waitress,’ Marvin thought, observing the woman’s movements.
When they were close enough, Marvin realized the woman had slight dark circles under her eyes. The light makeup she wore couldn’t hide them.
“Enjoy our signature dish, Sir. Noodles with heavenly broth,” the woman said, bowing respectfully, then left, returning to the kitchen.
Marvin looked at the dish in the white bowl before him. Heavenly broth? What a grand name for a dish that looked so ordinary.
‘Alright. Maybe I’ll just eat first. Who knows, maybe there’s something surprising,’ Marvin thought.
And indeed, as he chewed the noodles he put in his mouth with chopsticks, he felt a tenderness that gave him a blissful sensation. And when he sipped the broth, he tasted something he had never experienced before. Fresh, spicy, savory, and sweet all at the same time.
‘This is incredible!’ he exclaimed inwardly, starting to devour his ordered noodles with gusto.
Before he knew it, he had chewed and swallowed the last noodle. Only the broth remained. He finished it all without a trace.
The middle-aged man, sitting behind the cashier counter, smiled happily seeing Marvin enjoying his food so much. He came out from behind the counter and approached Marvin.
“How was it, Sir? Did you like it?” the middle-aged man asked.
“Yes, yes. I liked it,” Marvin replied, his eyes smiling. “This is the best noodle dish I have ever eaten. The taste is incredible.”
The middle-aged man nodded. The smile on his face widened.
“In that case, would you like to order another one? Or perhaps you would like to try our other menu items?” the middle-aged man asked hopefully.
Marvin shook his head, causing the smile on the middle-aged man’s face to disappear.
“For the food, I think this is enough. But I want to invest in this shop,” said Marvin.
After tasting how special the shop’s signature dish was with his own palate, Marvin was now optimistic about making a profit. The shop just needed a capital injection. As long as there were enough waiters and other staff, they could surely make this shop thrive.
Meanwhile, the middle-aged man stared at Marvin, confused. This person in front of him wanted to invest in his shop? Did he hear that correctly?
“I’m sorry, Sir, did you just say you wanted to invest in this shop? Do you mean to invest your money, sir, in our shop?” asked the middle-aged man.
“Yes, that’s right,” Marvin replied. “Five million dollars. Is that enough to hire a few more waiters and staff? That way, you might be able to attract customers to your shop.”
The middle-aged man’s eyes widened, as did his mouth. He was indeed experiencing financial difficulties and was at risk of having to close the shop he had opened just a few months ago. And a fresh capital injection of 5 million dollars was, of course, more than enough!
But, was this real? Wasn’t this too much like a dream?
“Sir, are you serious about what you’re saying? You’re not playing with me?” asked the middle-aged man.
“No. I’m not playing with you,” Marvin replied, shaking his head. “I am really going to invest 5 million dollars in this shop. I can transfer it right now. Please tell me your bank account number.”
Marvin took out his phone and opened his mobile banking app. The middle-aged man remained frozen in place, finding it hard to believe that the person in front of him would transfer 5 million dollars.
Crash!!
The sound came from the shop’s entrance door being pushed open so hard that the doorknob hit the wall.
Marvin and the middle-aged man immediately turned towards it. They saw several menacing-looking men entering the shop. They had tattoos of skulls biting roses on their arms.
“Hey, Daniel! It’s time for you to pay your debt. If you still can’t, we’ll destroy this shop of yours!” said one of them, loudly and fiercely.

He Must Have Lost His Mind
Marvin lowered his hand, slipped the phone back into his jeans pocket, and stood with his arms relaxed at his sides.Watching his calm demeanor, Felix gave a mocking smirk. “Who did you just call? Did you bring an army to back you up?”“Something like that,” Marvin replied. “And just as I said before, this is going to be one of the worst nights of your life. Tonight, I’m going to take over this club of yours.”For a brief moment, Felix stared at him seriously, but then he burst out laughing. He glanced over at Damian, who was standing upright again despite still looking in pain.“Is this fool making any sense at all, Damian? Do you understand what he’s rambling about?” Felix asked.“I think he’s just trying to copy what I did, sir,” Damian sneered. “I called Jab a moment ago to send his men here. Probably this trash thinks he can scare us the same way.”Felix raised one eyebrow. “Is that so? Reinforcements, you say? What kind of pathetic reinforcements could you possibly have called?
Felix Banguard
The atmosphere inside the club had never felt this tense. The usual chatter and laughter died down instantly; every eye in the room turned toward Marvin and Damian. Even the music had stopped playing.Damian let out a sharp breath. He reached into his pocket, pulled out his phone, tapped a few numbers, and held it to his ear.“We have troublemakers here. Bring your men over immediately,” he said coldly.Someone spoke on the other end, but their voice was too quiet for anyone else to hear. Damian lowered his phone and slipped it back into his pocket.“Listen here, you trash! This is your first and last warning. Get out now, or your life ends tonight!” Damian threatened, his voice heavy with menace.Marvin smiled that same wicked smile again. “Actually, it’s your life that’s about to end tonight. You can still stop this from happening, though, if you apologize properly for everything you’ve done to my employee, Emily.”Damian frowned. “Your employee? You call Emily your employee?”“That
Your Time Runs Out
Emily still didn’t fully understand, but for some reason, she found herself trusting his words completely.“Very well then. So I really don’t have anything to worry about anymore?”“Nothing at all. It’s all taken care of. You can focus on your work and rest as usual.”Marvin smiled again, and somehow, that smile seemed to radiate confidence and charm. Little by little, in Emily’s eyes, he looked more and more handsome.“Oh, and one more thing.”Marvin reached into his back pocket and pulled out a small envelope. He placed it on the table and slid it across to her.“This is a bonus for you. You’ve done a great job making this shop so busy,” he said, keeping that same easy smile.Emily picked up the envelope and peeked inside. Her eyes widened instantly.“This is…”“One hundred thousand dollars,” Marvin finished. “Daniel and his daughter will receive the same amount as well.”Emily stared at him in disbelief. Even though her salary at the shop was quite decent, it was only a few thousan
You Don’t Need To Worry Anymore
A few hours later…“Boss, are you seriously planning to send our men to hit that nightclub tomorrow?” Baron asked, his eyebrows drawn tightly together.“Yeah, I’m deadly serious. Go tell the others. We move tomorrow night,” Walter replied, taking a drag from his cigar.Baron stared at him in disbelief. They were alone in Walter’s private room. Walter had just explained what Marvin had ordered him to do.“But Boss, why should we risk getting into serious trouble just because that bastard tells us to?”“Watch your mouth, Baron!”Baron flinched. Walter turned his head and gave him a look that was cold and dangerous.Having served Walter for over a decade, Baron knew exactly what that look meant. It was the same expression Walter gave to enemies he intended to eliminate.“I’m sorry, Boss.” Baron bowed his head.Walter narrowed his eyes and took another puff.“Marvin is my boss now. If you dare speak disrespectfully about him again, you’ll face severe punishment. You understand?”“Understo
Loyal Ally
The overwhelming force of Walter’s aura surged out again, making Baron’s skin prickle with fear.“I… I think we should kill him, Boss… This is our chance…” Baron stammered.Walter tightened his grip on Baron’s wrist until Baron cried out in pain. The pistol slipped from his fingers and clattered onto the floor, landing right beside Marvin’s head.“I lost to him, and now he is my boss. How dare you point a gun at my boss? Do you want me to put a bullet in you? Is that what you want?!”“N-no, Boss… I… I’m sorry, Boss…”Still looking furious, Walter released Baron’s wrist and shoved him back slightly. Baron stumbled, clutching his sore arm.“Everyone listen up!” Walter shouted loudly. “Starting this second, this man is part of the Black Skull. And he is no ordinary member—he stands above me. Or at the very least, he is my equal. Anyone who tries to harm him will answer to me. You understand?!”After a brief moment of silence, the gang members began to nod and reply that they understood.
From Now On, You Are My Boss
Baron and the rest of the Black Skull gang stared in shock at what they had just witnessed. Baron stepped forward, ready to help Walter stand up, but Walter raised his left hand, stopping him in his tracks.“I’m fine,” Walter said, wiping away the blood from his upper lip and mouth.Using one hand for support, Walter slowly pushed himself up into a sitting position, then rose to his feet. His eyes remained locked firmly on Marvin, burning with fierce intensity.Marvin stood still, his gaze never leaving Walter either. There was blood on his right fist, but it was not his own; it belonged to Walter.“It’s been a long time since anyone made my nose bleed,” Walter said once he was fully upright. “The last time it happened, I beat that man so badly he ended up in a coma for months.”Walter dropped back into his fighting stance, but this time his aura felt completely different. Marvin could tell that his opponent was taking this far more seriously now.“Get ready to face our Boss’s rage, y
