A fraction of a second before the tip of the Fire Dragon Sword reached its target, Arya pulled back his strike, using the recoil from their clashing energies as momentum to change direction. His body twisted swiftly to the side, then he slashed his blade with tremendous force toward his opponent’s neck.

Baruna did notice the change in attack, but he was too late to parry—especially since the strike came from the left side of his body.

In desperation, he used his left hand to block the incoming blade aimed at his neck. But it was futile.

“Aaaargh!”

A loud scream tore from Baruna’s mouth as his left arm was severed. Worse still, Arya’s sword didn’t stop there—it continued unhindered, with Baruna’s neck remaining the target, ending in his death.

Baruna’s headless body collapsed to the ground. His physique shrank, returning to its original form.

Seeing his opponent dead didn’t mean Arya could relax. He remained alert, unwilling to let strange incidents happen again. He waited a moment to

Relieved breaths escaped from the seven figures who were now far enough from Arya. They were fortunate to have narrowly avoided the invisible attack their opponent had unleashed.“Lucky for us we managed to avoid that heat wave in time,” said one of them, shaking his head in disbelief at the young man’s frightening abilities.“You’re right. So what should we do now? Even our most trusted weapons can’t pierce the shield that young man is using,” another replied. The masked leader in black was deep in thought, wracking his brain. He knew there was no way they could win against someone whose strength clearly surpassed all seven of them combined. To fight now would only bring disaster upon themselves. Yet the person they were waiting for still hadn’t arrived to assist them.“There’s no other choice. The Elder hasn’t shown up to help us. Are you ready to fight him to the last drop of blood?”The other six were startled by the question. On one hand, none of them wanted to die. On the other,

  • Explosion of Scorching Heat

“Damn…!” Arya cursed under his breath. It seemed they weren’t giving the handsome young man even the slightest chance to catch his breath, for several warriors had already launched follow-up attacks at him.“Flying Blade Formation!”Five knives shot forward at once, aiming for Arya’s body and forcing him to dodge quickly again. But then, two sword slashes suddenly came at his head from both sides.Arya quickly blocked one sword with his own blade, while deflecting the other with his left hand.It was a gamble with death. Better to lose his left hand than have his head severed. If their throwing knives could pierce his fire shield, then it wasn’t impossible for their swords to pierce the Dragon Scale Vest—this was the calculation in his mind. The clash of two opposing forces created a loud explosion. Arya’s body shook slightly, while his two attackers were thrown back hard, crashing into trees. Both the sword parry and the block with his left hand had worked to stop the attacks. And wh

Arya was slightly surprised. But he soon realized he had been lured out of the capital and was now in the middle of a forest. His smile widened suddenly, for this was something he often did himself—choosing to fight away from populated areas so as not to cause damage or harm others—and now, it was being done to him."So, you still have some kindness left, not challenging me to fight in the capital. That way, no civilians will get hurt," he said, giving a thumbs-up."Hahaha… You’re mistaken, young man. We never cared about the lives of others, least of all the people of Swarnabumi’s capital. We lured you out for another purpose—one far more important," replied one of the four masked figures in black.Arya gave a wry smile. His assumption had been entirely wrong. These four masked men were nothing like what he had imagined."You are bound to become an obstacle to our plans. That’s why we lured you here—to kill you without causing chaos in the palace!""And why are you so sure you’ll be

  • The Black-Clad Watchers

After making sure no one outside was eavesdropping, Arya began speaking about the oddities he had sensed."From what I heard earlier, I can’t explain why, but I feel that King Ayodya is not as we assumed.""I don’t quite follow, Prince. Could you explain?" asked Elder Wiyasa.A quiet exhale escaped Arya’s lips before he explained everything he found strange."Do you understand what I mean now?" he concluded."I understand, Prince. But we should not tell anyone about this, not even His Majesty King Damarjaya," Elder Wiyasa replied.Arya nodded. "Now, Elder, go to His Majesty’s room. Talk to him about anything—just not about this.""Where are you going, Prince?" Elder Wiyasa asked curiously.Arya smiled, took his cloth bundle, and untied it. From within, he pulled out the black outfit he usually wore for reconnaissance."There’s something I need to do." Arya then looked at Ratnasari, concern in his eyes for his beloved. "Take Ratna with you as well. Now, both of you, leave for a while."

  • First Impressions

King Damarjaya, accompanied by Elder Wiyasa and Ratnasari, stepped down from the horse-drawn carriage. Arya, who had been following behind, also leapt down from his horse. The four of them then walked toward the entrance of the hall and stopped right in front of King Ayodya."Welcome, King Damarjaya. At last, you and your entourage have arrived at my palace," King Ayodya said with a beaming smile. He felt a slight sense of curiosity seeing the ruler of Purareksa Kingdom arrive with three other people."If I may ask, who are the three of them, King Damarjaya?" he inquired further."This is Elder Wiyasa, my personal advisor who has been with me for over twenty years. And these two are his disciples," replied King Damarjaya, introducing the three."I have long heard of your name, Elder. I did not expect that we would finally meet in person." King Ayodya smiled faintly and gave a small nod."My respects, Your Majesty." Elder Wiyasa bowed in salute.Arya’s first impression upon meeting Kin

  • Arriving at the Swarnabumi Capital

Arya suppressed his energy to the absolute minimum before stopping on one of the tree branches where one of the black-clad figures stood. His landing was so light that the figure did not even notice his presence. “I don’t know why you’re spying on us. But one thing’s certain—I don’t see you having good intentions,” Arya said softly. The handsome young man’s words instantly made the black-clad figure turn his head. A wave of shock immediately filled his mind. From what he saw, the youthful man was perched lightly on a branch that was quite small—one that should not have been able to hold his weight. “Who are you? Stay out of our business!” Arya scratched his head lightly and chuckled in response to the man’s words. “I should be the one asking—why are you and your friends spying on us? If you have business with us, we can talk down below. Don’t act like thieves like this!” he replied. “Watch your mouth, you bastard! We’re not thieves,” the black figure snapped, then stood and wh
