Darmawisesa swiftly drew his sword to parry the attack.

Boom!

A deafening explosion echoed through the forest. As a result, the trees around the battlefield swayed violently, and leaves began to fall like rain. The pressure from the clash swept away dried leaves, scattering them far and wide.

The warriors within the forest were startled by the thunderous sound that reached their ears. Expressions of curiosity painted their faces without exception.

Meanwhile, Sarwana, perched high on a tree, could only growl in irritation. The forest near the Panguripan Ravine had become a battleground for warriors fighting over a sacred sword he had never even heard of.

If it were true that the sword was hidden in the forest or the Panguripan Ravine, as the ruler of this domain, he surely would have known about it.

The force of Kelana Jati's attack pushed Darmawisesa back several steps. Fortunately, he managed to regain his balance and stood tall once more.

A smirk crept across his face as he noticed Kelana Jati's breathing becoming labored. It dawned on him that his old foe's physical strength had begun to wane.

"Hahaha... Age doesn't lie, Kelana Jati! Your fiery spirit may drive your desire for the Flame Dragon Sword, but you must remember that your body is no longer what it used to be. You are old now, and soon, your life will be snuffed out. So, I offer you a choice: surrender and admit defeat, and we can search for the sword together!"

"Don’t be too sure of what you see, Darma! I guarantee you’ll regret underestimating me!" retorted Kelana Jati.

The seasoned warrior was eager to end the fight quickly. He utilized his mastery of agility to evade Darmawisesa's attacks while simultaneously mounting a counter-offensive.

His punches and kicks cornered Darmawisesa in no time. Several of his strikes landed squarely on the Red Falcon Warrior's body. Blood trickled from the corner of Darmawisesa's mouth, but he paid it no mind. To him, honor was worth more than life itself.

While still under pressure, Darmawisesa suddenly spun his sword and slashed at the back of Kelana Jati's head, which was wide open. Confident that his attack would hit its mark, he was stunned when Kelana Jati blocked it.

The old warrior’s tiger-head-carved staff stood firm in defense. Darmawisesa, wearing his signature bamboo hat, rubbed his eyes in disbelief. He was certain he could have killed Kelana Jati with that surprise strike.

"He's incredibly fast!"

Kelana Jati chuckled at Darmawisesa's astonishment. "Why are you so surprised, Red Falcon Warrior? Now, show me the full extent of your sword skills!" he exclaimed, spinning his staff counterclockwise.

"You’ve yet to see my true strength, Kelana Jati!"

Darmawisesa gradually shook off his shock. Spinning his sword, he drew it back slightly. He was preparing to showcase his signature technique—the Predator Falcon Sword Style.

With a firm step forward, Darmawisesa lunged at Kelana Jati, who was equally prepared to meet his attack.

The clash resumed with renewed intensity. The sound of metal clashing reverberated through the forest. The warriors who had arrived at the scene chose not to interfere. They stood silently, observing from a distance.

Kelana Jati was startled when the sword he blocked suddenly bent, its tip nearly piercing his eye. Thankfully, he pulled his head back in time to avoid the unexpected strike.

"So, he has a new technique," Kelana Jati muttered.

He leaped back, tossing his staff into the air. An extraordinary phenomenon occurred—the staff began moving on its own, relentlessly attacking Darmawisesa as if guided by an unseen force.

“Damn! What kind of sorcery is this?” Darmawisesa cursed inwardly. His hands ached from parrying the ceaseless strikes of the flying staff.

Kelana Jati smiled, satisfied with how his staff's movements left Darmawisesa scrambling.

“Did you think only you could learn new techniques, Darma? Now, prove that your youthful strength can defeat my aged body!” Kelana Jati shouted arrogantly, as if his victory was assured.

Darmawisesa had no choice but to dodge and parry the flying staff's attacks. He was confident that controlling the staff from a distance required significant inner strength. All he needed to do was endure until Kelana Jati's energy depleted.

Unexpectedly, the staff returned to its owner without being summoned. This puzzled Kelana Jati, as he was sure he had not recalled it.

Darmawisesa, on the other hand, assumed that Kelana Jati's energy had weakened, causing the staff to return.

Before he could mock the old warrior, both of them suddenly felt an overwhelming energy press down on them. Kelana Jati also sensed it. Now, he understood that the staff's return was due to this immense energy.

Both warriors focused their inner strength to resist the pressure and prevent their hearts from giving out.

Their eyes widened in shock when they saw a massive ape, the size of a human, standing between them.

Unconsciously, they both swallowed hard multiple times. From the energy emanating from the ape's body, they were certain that Sarwana was no ordinary creature.

The warriors watching the fight from afar were just as stunned by the appearance of the giant ape.

“Are you trying to wreak havoc and destroy this forest?” Sarwana’s deep voice rumbled.

The two rival warriors were taken aback. They could hardly believe that the massive ape, radiating such powerful energy, could speak.

Neither uttered a word, further enraging Sarwana.

"Why are you silent!?" he roared. "If you wish to continue fighting, then fight me! But let me warn you—if you choose to battle me, there will be no chance for you to survive!"

Kelana Jati and Darmawisesa exchanged confused and hesitant glances. It seemed their fight would h

ave to be postponed once more—this time interrupted by a talking giant ape.

---“Uncle, are you sure you want to continue the journey alone?” Arya asked.Karyo stared into the distance. All he could see was endless darkness. Doubts about continuing the journey began to creep into his mind.Arya noticed the hesitation in Karyo’s eyes. He felt uneasy about letting him go alone into the dark, quiet night.“Or how about this, Uncle... Since we’re also heading to the Purareksa Kingdom, why don’t we have Ratna accompany you for the rest of the journey? Once I’m done with the matter regarding Ki Ageng Wanayasa, I’ll catch up with you by passing through the Dead Forest.”Karyo looked at Arya with surprise. What difference would it make if he continued the journey alone or with a young girl? He didn’t even know her capabilities.“I understand your concern, Uncle. But believe me, it’s hard to find someone who matches Ratna’s abilities. Even if there are enemies ahead—three times their number—I’m sure they still wouldn’t be able to defeat her,” Arya added.“Well, what d

  • Leaving the Village

Arya handed the two pouches filled with coins to the girl. “Give one to your master, and the other is for you.”The girl looked at him in disbelief. Being saved from the cruelty of those men was already a precious blessing—and now, being given such a large amount of money felt almost unreal to her.“Just take it. Give the money to your parents,” said Ratnasari, noticing the girl’s hesitation.“Thank you, kind sir. But how can I possibly repay your kindness?”Arya smiled warmly. “If your parents are still alive, repay us by being devoted to them. And don’t forget to be kind to others. The smiles of those you help are sincere prayers directed to you. No one who has been helped ever prays ill for their savior.”“Now go home. We’ll take care of the rest,” Ratnasari added, following up on Arya’s words.“Yes, kind lady. Once again, thank you both so much for your help. May the gods grant you both lasting happiness in your marriage.”Arya and Ratnasari exchanged glances after hearing the ble

The four men were startled and tried to retreat. But Arya didn’t give them the chance to even catch a deeper breath. The handsome young man, moving faster than the eye could follow, disabled all four attackers in an instant.“If you want to keep the only life you have intact inside your body, then tell me now—who is your true leader? Is it Ki Ageng Wanayasa, or is there someone else leading you?” Arya threatened.Over thirty members of the bandit group exchanged nervous glances. What they had just witnessed wasn’t some lucky coincidence for the young man. Resisting him now would be futile—nothing more than a senseless suicide mission. The invincibility of Arya’s body turned their inner fear into something visible—shown clearly through their gestures and expressions.“If you won’t talk, I promise none of you will walk away alive. Your actions have harmed so many people, and more could suffer from your barbarity!”Arya stepped forward and picked up a branch about a meter long from the g

Karyo pulled the reins to halt his horse-drawn cart. He glanced at Arya and Ratnasari in turn, trying to assess their characters. His focus also didn't stray far from the swords strapped to their backs. From that alone, he could tell they were likely a pair of warriors on a journey.Although he didn’t know how skilled they were, Karyo was still grateful to have their company on his journey to the Purareksa kingdom.“Very well. But I must apologize in advance—this cart isn’t built for speed,” said Karyo.“It’s no problem, Uncle. This is our first time heading to Purareksa, so at the very least, we won’t get lost if we travel with you,” Arya replied with an excuse. In truth, what he told Karyo was merely a reason. Traveling with a merchant might lure out the bandit gang hiding nearby to ambush them. It would be different if they were traveling alone through the winding path around the Dead Forest.Karyo’s cart continued to move. Though it wasn’t fast, it wasn’t exactly slow either. The

After a short while, two of the four rough-looking men left the eating place. The other two remained inside.Meanwhile, Arya and Ratnasari were enjoying the meal on their table while listening to the conversations of other patrons. They were particularly interested in the topic about the Cluring bandits, who were now operating outside their usual territory. This shift occurred because no one dared to enter the dead forest anymore.Arya’s thoughts were consumed by the pressing issue of the bandit gang that had been troubling the merchants. If left unchecked, it was possible that they would soon target the village of Karang Aji.To devise a further plan, Arya intended to ask the innkeeper where they were staying. At the very least, the innkeeper might have some information from the merchants who had lodged at his place. After paying for the food that now filled their bellies, the young warrior couple decided to return to the inn. However, the innkeeper had already gone home, and a serva
