Iron was still waiting on the Titans when the sound sneaked into his eardrums.

Melodious and soothing to the soul.

“Where is the coming from?” Iron asked.

“From the blind girl,” he was told.

“What blind girl?” Iron asked, confused.

It was not until the question had already gone out of his mouth that he realized that they were talking about Jane.

“Her name is Jane,” Iron corrected them tightly.

“Yes, Lord Dante.”

Iron got up and followed the sound and it led him to the room that she had been given, and where he had spoken to her the last time.

When Iron entered the room, she didn’t stop. She kept playing.

She was gazing out through the windows as though she could see what was going on outside or what nature held out there, and the way her delicate fingers strung the strings of her guitar, matching the rhythm of the song she was playing to warmed Iron’s heart.

Not only that, it also made Iron to remember just how he and Hera had met.

It happened in the most unusual way.

As the king of the Titans, Iron had already dedicated himself to serving his clan. He was not interested in anything else. He understood the calling that was upon him and what he must do, until a certain girl arrived at their camp.

Iron could barely remember what exactly she had come for, but she had been among those that had been hired to serve the king. Iron had insisted that he hadn’t needed anyone, but when she walked in and greeted Iron, her voice had been melodious and soothing.

Nothing like Iron had ever heard before.

“I heard that you don’t want anyone at your service, but I wanted to confirm if that was true, and if you meant it,” Hera had said.

Something about her had struck Iron to speechlessness, which was something that had never happened before. While he was supposed to have ordered her out of his presence, he had been struck down by her irresistible beauty and the melodious sound of her voice.

So much so that sending her away had been the last thing on Iron’s mind…at just the first meeting.

“Why do you need this?” Iron had asked her.

“First of all, the pay is attractive, and my family could make good use of the money. Secondly, you could not possibly be able to do everything all by yourself while handling the responsibility of your position,” Hera had responded.

Two other qualities had instantly been added; blunt and smart.

She hadn’t pretended not to be enticed by the money, which was something that Iron had appreciated. A lot of people wanted to come off as modest and simple so badly that they stripped off their true identities in the process.

“Do you sing?” Iron had asked, unable to hold himself.

He had never wanted anyone who could. As a matter of fact, he had never fancied it much, so he couldn’t care less, but her voice just kept calling out to him. Iron had felt that even if he had stubbornly sent her away, he would have heard her voice in his head day and night.

“Not exactly, but I can try,” Hera had responded. “Do you have a child that you would want that service for?” Hera had asked, her voice softening even more when she spoke of a child.

“Is it only a child that needs to be sung to?” Iron had asked.

“No, but most people require it,” Hera had answered. “My younger sister is more skilled in that area, actually,” she had added.

Iron hadn’t wanted anyone else aside from the damsel standing in front of him.

“I don’t have a child. I was asking for myself,” Iron had admitted.

“Then I can manage something,” Hera had said.

When she had begun working, they had argued mostly, and Iron had found himself drawn to her in ways that he never thought possible.

The more time she spent in his presence, the deeper he fell.

By the time Iron had confessed his feelings to Hera, she had also been in love with him, and Iron had sworn that it would be just Hera for the rest of his existence. It was a long time, and that even made it more thrilling. When Iron had heard that men had sold their hearts for love, Iron had termed it as lies and exaggerations.

But when he met Hera, he had been ready to sell his heart for even the cheapest thing.

He would have gladly taken it out and handed it to his enemies if they would have kept Hera alive, and now, standing and watching her sister, Iron couldn’t help but feel that pang in his chest. Hera had always talked about her sister, but Iron never paid attention.

As a matter of fact, Iron never concerned himself with any other woman. Hera had been everything to him.

Iron didn’t bother to say a word. He simply stood there and allowed himself to enjoy what Jane was playing. If Jane knew that he was there, she didn’t say a word.

Iron felt someone close to him, and he knew instantly that it was Hades.

“The Titans are back,” Hades told Iron.

Iron walked away instantly as he followed Hades to meet the Titans. Thankfully, they all returned in one piece, but they looked like they had gone through the bloodiest battle.

“What happened?” Iron asked.

Hades was present, as well as Eric and Diana, and Athena.

“We did as you instructed, but by the time we were almost there, we realized that they had been waiting for us,” one of them reported.

“It is a miracle that they hadn’t killed any of us, because none of us would have survived it if they had because we walked right into their den,” another one said.

“And no one was hurt?” Hades asked.

“Surprisingly,” one answered, clearly shaken.

While they spoke, Iron thought deeply about the report they gave.

“Someone from the inside has sold us out to them. We have a traitor in our midst,” Iron declared through clenched teeth.

IRON’S POV“Don’t beat yourself up about it too much, Lord Dante,” Blake kept telling me.For the entire day, I couldn’t shake off the feeling of what seemed like the recent revelation to me, and the guilt that everything the Titans might have been facing was all because of me.“The most important thing is that you now know that there is a problem, and in my opinion, that helps to tackle it,” he added.“You are just trying to be supportive, Blake, but it will not take too long before you tell the other Titans and a rebel will be planned against me,” I told him. From the previous day, to the entire night, and till this very moment, we were still deliberating on this particular issue.“You should know now that I don’t act that way, Lord Dante, and you might just be surprised at how loyal and committed the rest of the Titans are to you,” Blake said without sounding offended. “But speaking of Givan and Norman,” he added.I shook my head.Thinking day and night about it wasn’t going to cha

NESSE’S POVI stood in front of my vanity mirror and stared at my stomach. Before now, I would do it with dread, but I was tired of letting this damn disease to control how I handled things. I was always at the helm of every affair that concerned me.And this wouldn’t be different. But I had been stunned to speechlessness for a few minutes; the roundness in my stomach had increased since the last time I saw it.“Didn’t I take a look at it yesterday morning?” I asked myself.I did.I looked at it every freaking morning because each time I opened my eyes at dawn, that was the first thing that came to my mind, no matter how hard I tried to shove it off, and so, I always checked to ensure that I would never be taken unaware. But this morning, I was deeply taken unaware, and the swell I saw left me speechless for a few minutes.“When did it grow to this size?” I continued to ask myself.Till now, I couldn’t touch my stomach, and even when I showered, I ensured to keep off that area, in sli

  • Long Overdue Neglect

IRON’S POV“Hades is alive,” I said for the umpteenth time.I paced about the floor of my chamber and kept pondering on the thought.Blake was right here with me, but he had stayed quiet all along. The Titans had been locked up in a separate room until I had come to a conclusion on what I wanted to do with them.Death wasn’t the first thing that came to my mind.Right now, I was even still trying to digest everything that they had told me.“And he is the leader of the Valhallahs,” I added. These two revelations were doing my head in.As many times I had repeated the words to myself and out loud, I still couldn’t believe it. It felt as though Givan had merely cooked up a story, and I might not have honestly believed him if he hadn’t shown us the power that he had been given to bury beside our walls to weaken them.A lot of revelations had been spilled that left me utterly speechless.“The Valhallahs were part of the realms who attacked this Organization during the war that happened thr

HADES’ POVThe joy in my heart, knowing that I had murdered the Seer knew no bounds. As I made my way back to the Structure, I couldn’t stop thinking about it.“He is dead and gone,” I said to myself.Again, it was a good thing I kept Syron by my side. I saw his usefulness when no one else did, and now, he was working for just me.While I found my way to the Structure, I detoured.I wanted time to think about my next course of action without any distractions and questions, especially coming from Syron. He always meant good because he was downright loyal, but he was always intercepting my thoughts and decisions. In a few weeks, the walls of the Organization would be weak and easily penetrable. All I would need to do was get in, but I didn’t want to just go about things the way I did with the other realms the last time.We were able to weaken their walls and get in, quite alright, but we weren’t able to fulfill the mission of the whole plan, which was to get Iron; he was too powerful an

  • The Return

IRON’S POVBlake and I got there in time to see that it was the Titans who had fled from the Organization. The Titans guarding the walls of the Organization held them tightly. Were they trying to sneak their way back into the Organization?“What is going on here?” I asked in my stiff and firm voice. They stopped and stared at Blake and me.“We caught them trying to sneak into the Organization,” one of the Titans answered.“No, we weren’t,” the other Titan responded.I recognized him as Givan. The other one, Norman, was already almost shaking with fear because he already knew that there was punishment for what they had done, but as for Givan, he didn’t look very scared, or even if he did, he was good at shielding it.“Then what were you trying to do?” I asked them.“We are not supposed to be here,” Norman said.I decided here and now that I didn’t want to have this conversation here. Whatever it was, they were here now.“To my chamber,” I stated firmly. And without saying more than tha

  • The Hardest Thing To Tell

I watched Blake train the Titans, and just like the other trainings that I had watched, it was excellent. I could attest to the fact that the Titans were improving greatly.Blake had a fight with two of them, and surprisingly, they had learned to swing their weapons and keep themselves from getting hurt.Although not well enough because they were fighting with Blake, but they were way better than they used to be, and that was really impressive. As I watched them, I had no regret in making Blake my right hand man.He poured himself and everything he had into the Titans. There was nothing he hid from them, and I knew that soon enough, they would be just as brave and strong.I clapped when Blake ended the training session.“One hour to get something into your stomachs and rest, and then we are back here to continue with the training!” Blake told them firmly. They nodded in agreement. Then they jogged off, but they were also excited that I had clapped for them. I sensed their sense of enc
