2. Get used to bad luck

After a few hours in the hospital, Kaiden was finally able to go home. All of Kaiden's treatment costs will be paid for by the police. Kaiden was even escorted home by the police.

During the trip, the policeman questioned Kaiden about how he could be in a deserted place behind the market in such a battered state.

Kaiden told them everything that happened, about his brother who liked to cause trouble, about his mother who was stressed out because of his brother's actions and owed so much money to loan sharks, and about his brother and mother who suddenly died by suicide.

"So, they committed suicide without you, huh? I didn't know because I was just transferred to this city." The policeman said.

Kaiden nodded, "That's right, they did it while I was sleeping, so the next day I already saw the bodies of both of them. After that, I worked all kinds of jobs, no time to rest at all, just to pay off the debts that kept piling up. Three months later, I only managed to collect $200 and even that was stolen by my neighbors, so because I couldn't pay for three months, they beat me up."

The policeman looked sorry for Kaiden's story, but he was surprised that Kaiden looked so ordinary.

"Don't you have any other relatives?" The policeman asked.

Kaiden shook his head, "Even if I did, they all turned a blind eye and a deaf ear, even saying that they didn't want to have relatives like me. I can't ask them for anything either."

"Then, what are you going to do after this?"

Kaiden let out a long, heavy sigh, "I'll do whatever I can."

The police car had arrived in front of the rickety house Kaiden lived in. It was just a small house with walls made of woven bamboo. Kaiden was sure it had fallen apart due to the heavy rain overnight.

"Thank you for taking me," Kaiden said after getting out of the car.

Then the policeman gave Kaiden a 100$ bill, "buy some food with this, charge your energy so you can work harder like you said."

Kaiden was hesitant to take the money at first, but with his current situation, it was better to put his ego down.

Kaiden took the money and thanked him again.

The police car left.

Just as Kaiden turned around to enter the house, someone suddenly came and snatched the money Kaiden was carrying.

"You've always owed me for food, so now I consider it paid off!" The middle-aged woman said.

It was true that Kaiden often owed her for food, but Kaiden was sure he didn't owe her 100$.

Resignedly, Kaiden entered his house, cleaned up his house for a while, mopped the floor that was wet because the roof leaked, and then took a shower.

Oh, Kaiden forgot that he hadn't paid the electricity bill yet.

Kaiden was forced to draw water from the well so he could take a shower and put on some decent clothes.

After everything was done, Kaiden thought about the mission the system had given him.

Kaiden wasn't stupid, but he wasn't that smart either. Kaiden had been working as a delivery boy at a small restaurant nearby. He also used to be a pizza delivery boy, and sure enough, he had done just about anything. To the point where he knew almost a quarter of the residents of the small town. So, in order to sell something, he knew a lot of potential buyers.

But the problem was, what should he sell?

"Wait a minute, where is the 5000$ capital?"

The system screen then glowed for a while, and out popped a 5000$ bill placed in a large plastic pouch.

Kaiden sighed heavily, "what should I sell?" He muttered later.

In his hungry state, he couldn't think straight either.

"Can I use some of the money to buy food?" Kaiden asked the system.

[Of course you can]

Kaiden was relieved to get that answer. So he left, carrying his shabby bag to store the capital money, so it wouldn't get stolen like before.

But, the bag had a hole in it, so how could he store money in it?

[The master can store anything in the inventory, it can be taken out at any time if the master wants]

Kaiden could see the inventory option in question, if clicked, the system screen turned into a box and Kaiden could put the money into it. Once the money was in, the system screen returned to its original state.

Since Kaiden was very hungry, he went outside. He had the only bicycle that he used to work on. Even though the bike was old, it was his only hope to make money.

"Wait a minute, where are you going?" The woman selling food at the stall called out to Kaiden, who had taken the 100$ from the policeman.

"Where are you going, I heard you were beaten up by thugs because you couldn't pay your debt, right? Just stay here and eat this, no need to work first." The woman, Nina, handed over a plate full of rice and side dishes. There was fried chicken and stir-fried vegetables.

Kaiden parked his bike nearby, then returned to Nina.

"But you already took the money," Kaiden said.

"Let's just say that from now on, I'll take care of your meals with that money, so there's no need to pay anymore." Nina said, although she looked bitchy, she was actually very kind.

"But-"

"No buts, now hurry up and eat this over there, you must be very hungry, I'll get your drink."

Kaiden was very happy that his neighbor was so kind to him. He accepted the food and ate it in the chair provided.

It wasn't long before Nina came again, bringing drinks.

"Actually, I feel sorry for you, you've worked so hard that you've had to endure hunger several times, but after the money was collected, it was taken by Riko. Riko is too much, he likes to get drunk and doesn't want to work, so sorry for his mother and father." Nina said, she had tears in her eyes, because she felt sorry for Kaiden, and for Riko's parents.

Riko's parents had apologized to Kaiden, they were just as poor as Kaiden, although their situation was a little better because they were both farm laborers. Kaiden of course forgave Riko's parents, as they were both innocent, Kaiden had also given up the money that Riko had stolen. Meanwhile, Riko himself had not returned home after stealing the money. Riko's parents were worried about their son's fate.

Riko and Kaiden's brother Aiden were the same. They were both in the same gang, both troublemakers and useless. They were just a nuisance to the family.

Kaiden smiled slightly at Nina who was crying over Kaiden's fate, while Kaiden's own tears had dried up. Kaiden couldn't cry anymore, he was used to his bad luck.

With the help of the system game tycoon, would his life be better now?
