Looking up to the dark beautiful sky filled with glinting stars, Elion could only sigh with weary expression. “This life is a mess for a person like me, I wish I'm something useful.”
He was just sixteen years old, and he was already facing the backlash of life. All around him were things he wished he could have—things others had so easily, but he could barely afford a square meal. He was seated on a chair just outside an ice cream shop. In his hands, he held a pair of ice creams he had used the last of his money to buy. Even though life has been cruel to him, he doesn't have to keep blaming himself and instead have a glimpse of freedom and happiness from the taste of the ice cream he was licking. He gazed up at the city’s massive wall, towering high into the sky like an endless maze, and at that moment a thought ran into his mind, “How did this even come to be? It's really fascinating that something like this can be built by humans. The awakeners are really unimaginably powerful; if it weren't for them, the last of humanity could have ended a century ago.” The wall was so tall and perfectly built that it seemed impossible. History has it that the awakeners are the ones who have performed the wonders. The wall stood tall and covered kilometers away, rounding the entire massive city, which houses thousands of humans and the last of humanity. The city was divided into three parts: a part for the royals, a part for the average people, and a part for the poor to the poorest. And Elion fell under the poorest. While lost in the amazement and wonders of the wall, he heard his name called out. The voice was sharp and brief, and in the next seconds, he felt a newspaper slamming against his face. Elion swiftly turned, and a man was standing in front of him, his eyes reddened and his face contorted with anger as he spoke. “You good-for-nothing… I told you to take the batteries home, and you’re here staring at who knows what…” The man was Elion's stepfather—one of the worst people he wished he’d never had in his life. Yet every day, he was forced to face the scorching cruelty of his stepfather, leaving him with no choice. “Stand up now and get the hell out of here. I don’t want to come back and see you sitting here like a jobless fool.” After saying these words, he slammed the ice cream Elion was holding in his hands to the ground. Elion snapped. He stared at his stepfather with burning rage, but one reality kept reminding him that he can't do anything about it. Years ago, something had happened—something that plunged the entire world into a survival mission where only the strongest and the royals could survive. It was an apocalypse era where monstrous creatures appeared from an opening called the shadow gate. After this appearance, the creatures took over the world and slew any living thing in their path, almost driving humans to extinction. After almost a century had passed, the Vanguard City was built with its towering walls and was the only city left of the last survival of humanity, and anywhere beyond the city's massive wall was absolute death. Soon, Elion reached home and dropped the batteries where they were supposed to be. Thereafter, he went to his sister, who was lying on the couch not feeling too well. Elion pulled out the medicine he had bought for her from the town and desperately urged her to swallow it.“Clara, you have to take these drugs. They’ll help stabilize your condition.” Clara had been feeling sick for almost a day, and James—their stepdad—never cared. Even worse, he gave her house chores to do before heading out to the bar, where he always drank himself into a stupor and came back home acting like a madman. Clara gently rose from the couch, her body shivering. She collected the drug and swallowed it along with the water she had gulped into her throat. Elion went inside the bedroom and returned with a duvet; thereafter, he covered her with it. He sat close to her, his hands running softly over her hair, coaxing her to stay calm and reassuring her that she would get well soon. “Don’t worry, Clara. I’m always here for you.” He lit up a bright smile from his lips. Clara meant everything to him. Their mother, Sophia, had been sick for over a month and had spent most of her time in the hospital, lying on a sickbed. During that period, their stepdad rained hell on them, making life even more difficult. Adding to the fact that his sister was just ten years old. Soon after, their stepfather, James, returned, staggering to the kitchen, and when he found out that Clara hadn’t done what he had asked her to do, he burst into a rage. Annoyed, he aggressively stormed towards Elion, who was sleeping beside Clara with his hand gently running over her hair. James yanked Elion's hands off her hair, as though wanting to pull it out from its socket; thereafter, he grabbed Clara by the arm and began dragging her toward the kitchen while murmuring disgustful words from his mouth: “You disrespectful bitch… Why the hell didn’t you do what I asked you to do? if you really want to live under my roof, then you do as I say, or I kick your ass out of my house.”Latest Chapter
Beyond The Fence
Elion's eyes rolled open, and to his surprise, he was seated on the rock he was seated on before meditating, and when he looked forward he saw the old man who had held his hands, now really smiling, "congratulations, boy, you have done a very great job. Never did I expect you are this strong to stand against him, it was so surprising that you didn't use any powers; what you have used to defeat him was just your will."The old man was just so amazed that he thought a thing like this wouldn't be possible, but Elion just proved him wrong. The truth was that Elion wasn't supposed to face his dark self, but somehow his dark self had gotten a way to draw him into his own dimensional mind, which means the white space with raging clouds was the mind of the dark self of Elion, and if his dark self had defeated him, Elion would have lost control, and his dark self would have taken control of his body at an early stage, and caused the havoc he had once wished for.Elion was staring in front of t
Echoes Of The Mirror
"Old man, is that you?" Elion tried to speak as he stood on his feet, he can't see the person that was standing some distance away from him that clear and he was confused. Thus he could clearly differentiate that the posture that the person doesn't look like the old man, the person from the distance so much looks like him."It's not the old man..." Elion paused on his steps, he turned around if he could see the old man but he couldn't and just then the person who was staying some distance away from him suddenly spoke, "there's no need to call him, because he can't hear you, all you have here is me and you, so you better accept that reality and face me."Elion instantly recalled the voice, it was indeed the same voice that had been torturing him all this while, and in every word that sounded, the dark clouds darkened even more and lightning crashed all around.Soon the face became much visible, and Elion saw it was indeed the other part of him. This part of him has dark eyes just the w
Beyond The Void
Elion took a deep breath, he had soon come to the relaxation, and he was seated on a rock. From his both sides was a stream flowing gently. The old man was at the other end of the agreement and Elion was in the middle, seated on the rock and watching for the man's next instruction."I want to ask one question..." Elion broke the silence, which he shouldn't.The old man nodded with a smile before replying, "Yes, sure, but be rest assured that you would have to restart the meditation.""What about my real body? I'm just curious, what will happen to my real body..." Elion asked."You don't have to get yourself worried about that," the old man said with a smile. He then gently struck his staff on the ground before continuing speaking, "The time here exists separately from the natural world. The place where you are at the moment is just in your head."Elion, hearing this from the old man, sighed in relief before asking again, "And secondly, I just want to confirm something. How long will i

"You are a loser, a failure, and an abandoned kid that is meant to be the downfall of the last of humanity. Better pick your knife and do the needful to yourself before you doom us all."The voice echoed so loud, and in the next seconds, Elion's eyes shot open, and so he jolted up from the bed. His breath above usual, he was breathing heavily like he had run a marathon."What the hell.... Not that voice again.." Elion sighed as he sat upright from his bed. The voice in his head was the dark version of his self, and this had been on for over three days. He couldn't sleep smoothly as usual. Just then, when he shifted his gaze, he saw his shadow's back leaned against the wall, while flipping an apple on his hands."What the hell are you staring at..." Elion annoyingly asked, his brow furrowed. His shadow smirked before replying, "I'm just watching out on you.""What if someone gets in here and catches sight of you? Look at the way you are flipping an apple like you own the entire house.
Secret Of The Shadow Lap
Valaria won't blame Jax for thinking that way; in fact, even she had thought of what she had done not nearly to be possible, but then it happened, and that became like a miracle."Of course I claim my words by saying I'm their mother," Valaria chuckled after speaking. "You see, over the years I was able to research my DNA, and after getting some specific results, I captured some beasts from the shadow realm and tried to replicate their DNA. And after years of trying, I was finally successful, and that's how I scientifically created all those creatures you could see.""Wow, that's amazing. So you actually pushed out all those dudes from your vagina?" Jax got lost in his words again."What? You stupid pervert!" Valaria slapped Jax across his face. He fell on the floor and began to plead, "I'm sorry, I was just curious, that's why I asked."Valaria took in a deep breath, "Anyways, let's just forget about this certain conversation, but just know I didn't shoot them out from my vagina..."
The Catalysts In The Glass
The man was afraid when he saw Elsie take that stand and also saw Jax pull out his sword, but after the assurance that his life isn't in danger by her visitors, the man instantly went calm.He then took some steps forward toward Valaria before speaking, "Mother, experiment 400 had started giving positive response. It will be nice if you come and have a look.""Good timing," Valaria smiled, before shifting her gaze to Elsie and Jax, "Why not we all have a look, that is the exact reason I had brought you here. Maybe perhaps you will understand the reason why I'm more interested in your teammate named Elion."Elsie was stunned to the bone about everything that was unfolding in front of her at the moment. She never imagined that Valaria would have all this possession and kept it as a secret. With all she had seen at the moment that Valaria had revealed to her, she had finally got her mind relieved of the concern that their secret could be leaked. They all followed Valaria to the other sid
