Three days later, the news of the peace agreement spread across the nation, capturing the attention of other countries. Walteria's war against Narman Empire attracted the attention of other countries due to its large scale.

Many were skeptical that Walteria could maintain peace in the nation.

The people of Walteria were pleased when they heard the war was over. They no longer had to worry about the Narman that often hurt innocent people.

A group of construction workers were taking a break while talking about the news started by the foreman.

"The war is over! We beat the Narman!"

The others responded enthusiastically.

"The Great Commander is really great! He can create peace that was thought to be impossible."

"But isn't it strange that the Great Commander doesn't appear much in the news?"

"I think I'm the only one who noticed. The news only mentions him successfully handling the war, but there's no explanation of his next move."

Everyone wondered where Cassian went after the war was over. The state had protected his identity to avoid enemy attacks since he had great power.

Only certain people had ever met him. People called him the Great Commander or the God of War since his real name was unknown.

The President planned a grand ceremony to honor the soldiers who bravely fought on the battlefield. But strangely, the Great Commander was not listed to attend the event.

While people wondered, Cassian returned to Lumithorn, his hometown, with only one pack and a blind stick. He made a call with excitement, but a cold female voice greeted him from the other side of the line.

"Who is this?"

Cassian smiled. "It's me, Cassian. The war is over, and I've returned to Lumithorn."

Perhaps surprised, the woman was silent for a moment before responding in an even colder tone.

"Yes, I have heard the news. I will send you an address. Let's meet here!"

The call was disconnected without warning, and a message with the cafe's location appeared on Cassian's phone screen. He did not have a good feeling about this.

It was Aveline Everhart, his wife. They were married three years ago on the wishes of Sawyer, Aveline's grandfather, who was terminally ill.

Sawyer was a general and Cassian's trainer. Knowing his life was short, he asked Cassian to marry Aveline. He believes his granddaughter will be safe with him.

But one day after the wedding, the Constitutional Emergency occurred, and Cassian convocated into the army, leaving Aveline alone. They never communicated during the war due to the impossible situation.

"Well, it's natural for Aveline to feel strange since we don't know each other well yet. This is the perfect time for us to get closer!"

Cassian remained optimistic. As Great Commander, his position in the military was the highest. He held absolute power, and with his influence, he asked people to help Aveline's business.

Now, his wife was a well-known businesswoman in Lumithorn. He could not wait to listen to her passionately talk about her business.

Arriving at the cafe, he still wore a pair of sunglasses and waited patiently. Soon, he heard two people walking towards him.

The once quiet café now buzzed with whispers as people secretly admired the beauty of the woman walking towards Cassian's table.

"Are you Cassian Valor?"

It was Aveline's voice. Cassian offered his best smile. "Hello, Aveline—"

"Why are you wearing sunglasses like that on this cloudy day?" The woman accompanying Aveline interrupted Cassian with a snort of annoyance. She was Isabella, Aveline's secretary. "That's too much!"

Cassian fell silent. The call abruptly ended, leaving him no opportunity to clarify the situation.

Aveline sat with regal poise, her brown hair flowing over her shoulders. Her sky-blue eyes gleamed with a confident gaze.

Her perfect posture and charm made her the most beautiful woman in the cafe. She examined her husband's appearance from top to bottom.

"Take off your glasses. They're distracting me," Aveline asked irritably, thinking Cassian was rude for not making eye contact with her.

Calmly, Cassian replied, "I lost my sight in the war."

Aveline was stunned, a feeling of guilt attacking her. She had no idea such a thing had happened to Cassian, as they had not kept in touch with each other during the war.

Just as she was about to speak again, Isabella interrupted her.

"I heard you were called to the army because of the emergency constitution. But you returned blind and without any rewards. Is it true that you went blind because of the war? I'm not sure."

Cassian frowned. "What do you mean?"

"Mr. President will hold a ceremony to honor war heroes in the capital. But seeing you're here, you must not have contributed to the victory. How could you lie about being blinded by the war!"

Aveline initially thought Cassian was really blind from the war. But after hearing Isabella's words, her opinion of her husband changed.

All soldiers must attend the ceremony to honor their service. If Cassian did not get an invitation, it meant he did nothing during the war.

It was rumored that many soldiers escaped because they were afraid to face the war. They were not invited to the grand ceremony because there was nothing the country could give them.

Isabella grinned as she adjusted her glasses. She spoke again because Cassian did not respond.

"It's possible his blindness was caused by something else, but he used the war as an excuse to avoid shame!"

Aveline nodded, agreeing with her secretary. She expected Cassian to come to his defense and say that it was not true.

But seeing her husband's silence, Isabella's words made sense. Cassian should have been angry and offended if he contributed to the war. Instead, he looked as calm as if nothing bothered him.

"Did you really not get an invitation to the ceremony?" Aveline asked for confirmation.

Cassian nodded. What happened between him and Ronin was a secret. The President had asked him to live a quiet life without getting involved with the military again.

That was why he did not accept the invitation to the ceremony. Once he lost his eyesight, he was no longer the God of War that everyone respected.

"I told you he's just a loser pretending to be a war hero!" Isabella mocked with satisfaction.

Cassian frowned, not understanding why someone else was in his meeting with Aveline. Although Isabella had been rude from the start, he tolerated it out of consideration for his wife.

But the longer Isabella went on, the more outrageous it became as he remained silent. He questioned Aveline, "Why did you want to see me at this cafe? We can talk at my house."

Aveline appeared hesitant to explain to Cassian, but Isabella quickly threw a stack of papers onto the table.

"Get on with it. Aveline wants to divorce you!"

Cassian was surprised by Isabell's statement. Although he was able to predict the enemy's movements and devise a war strategy, he could not have predicted that Aveline would want a divorce. It was beyond his reach. He was disappointed that Aveline filed for divorce at their meeting after all this time. Apparently, she had a different idea about this meeting."Why are you doing nothing? Take these divorce papers and return them to me when you have signed them," Isabella growled in annoyance that Cassian was silent like a fool.Cassian snapped out of his reverie. Unable to see, his hand fumbled on the table for the divorce papers. But he accidentally nudged the coffee cup, spilling the contents onto the documents."I'm sorry! I didn't do it on purpose!"Isabella did not accept Cassian's apology and snapped at him, "You must have done it on purpose! Are you pretending to be blind to mess things up? I'm sure you expected Aveline to divorce you, so you planned this."Hearing the accusation

How about we have a cup of coffee together, Mommy?"His friends giggled. They did not think Elara was dangerous since this cafe was not a hangout for influential rich people. The guy who flirted with Elara was Maverick. His father owned a lot of property in Lumithorn. He had influence in this city, so he was unafraid of anyone."Are you playing hard to get?" Maverick was not happy that Elara was ignoring him. He was offended that she was paying more attention to Cassian."You're going to let her be arrogant?" His friend whispered, trying to provoke him. "You're not going to jail just for hitting a woman, are you?"Maverick smirked. His juvenile delinquency had gotten him arrested by the police a few times. But thank

Ace took the thrown access card without offense. He walked up to the gate and swiped the card.A moment later, the gate opened. It can only be closed and opened with the access card. The next day, Cassian was going to court alone at the appointed time. Elara was not with him because he did not want to involve her in his personal affairs. Aveline was already there with Isabella. She waited impatiently for Cassian to arrive. "He will come, right? I'm afraid he ran away because he doesn't want to divorce me," she bit her thumb nervously. The thought of Cassian running away and not signing the divorce documents made Isabella anxious, too. If the divorce were not confirmed soon, Cassian would still be Aveline's husband. Divorce requires the consent of both parties because the court will not approve if there is a lack of evidence. "You and that useless man should get a divorce as soon as possible!" Isabella stated. "If he doesn't come here, I will find a way to get you two divorced." Aveline frowned. "How? Cassian didn't see me for three years, but the court could have excused it because he went to the army during that time." "That's easy. You can say he cheated

"I won't," Cassian replied, still with the same calmness. "Don't be stubborn while I'm still being nice. I'll beat you to death if you don't hand over the house!" Cassian laughed. "Did you just threaten to beat a soldier?" Liam's face turned red at the taunt. He knew that Cassian went to the battlefield for three years. But he could not accept being humiliated like this. Driven by anger, he clenched his fist and targeted Cassian's face for a punch. Before that could happen, Elara arrived quickly and delivered a powerful kick to his stomach. Liam crashed into the table, causing it to split into two. A cry of agony escaped from his lips as he experienced intense pain in his abdomen and spine. "W-Who are you?!" Stella panicked, seeing her son being kicked so effortlessly by a woman. She pointed a fruit knife at Elara. "I'll call the police! Get out of here!" The fruit knife was certainly no threat to Elara. She had already dealt with various weapons. The police woul

He glanced at Cassian, who he saw coming with Elara. It irritated him that an ordinary guy could approach her."I saw you coming with this shabby man. That hurts my heart! A poor loser doesn't deserve to be with a woman like you. I can treat you better than him. You're better off by my side."Elara smirked. "And what makes you think you're worthy of me? You're annoying me. Get out of my face!"The young man was furious after Elara insulted him in front of everyone. The warmth vanished from his expression in an instant. His face turned red as people in the lobby looked at him with pity. His brother, accompanying him, was also furious. He told Elara, "It's like you've become ignorant by hanging out with losers. Every cultivator has a core, but high-quality ones are difficult to obtain. Soul Essence cannot help either, as its energy bullets would destroy the target's core. The only way to get the core is to weaken the target and take it when they are on the brink of death. The soldiers would not have frustrated expressions if Cassian's only requirement were the core. They could easily take cores from weaker Narman soldiers, but they needed to defeat the stronger ones to obtain a high-quality core."Are there no other conditions? He had been eagerly waiting for such a powerful weapon, but he made the mistake of betraying Cassian, and he did not want the Commander to fire him because of that.Stefan hit Norman on the head with his military helmet. While it looked like the same action, they had different reasons for doing so. Not everyone feared the Military Prison.People like Stefan simply wanted to fight because it was their duty to protect the country. Not many soldiers thought this way, as most of them chose to fight to avoid punishment.Cassian raised an eyebrow when he realized that some soldiers were still unwilling to surrender to him. It caught his attention because they were faces he did not recognize."I appreciate differing opinions. Therefore, I will not force anyone to go to the battlefield. Anyone who prefers punishment can line up over there," he instructed, pointing to the left. The soldiers who refused to fight quickly formed their line. The hall was filled with murmurs of surprise from the participants about the Soul Essence. Since cultivators existed, all the military forces in the world had to develop weapons that could match their power. This was the beginning of the creation of energy weapons, as not everyone could cultivate. For instance, Weltaria had more soldiers who could not cultivate than those who could. To balance the gap, the country had no choice but to invest heavily in purchasing energy-based ammunition that could only be used on special weapons. The price was beyond question. It was undoubtedly expensive, and Weltaria lacked the funds to purchase enough energy weaponry. This is why Ronin called upon wealthy, influential families, including the Hawthornes, as he needed their help."Can your words be trusted? I've never heard of energy bullets that can destroy cores. If it only weakens them, that's still reasonable," Ronin voiced his skepticism, hoping that Cassian was exaggerating.Cassian placed his
