CHAPTER 06

Later that afternoon.

Cecilia’s elder sister-in-law, Naomi, came to the Serenity company.

She began to hear people whispering about Emma.

“You weren’t here, but we could hear the farts from all the way down here.”

“She hasn’t left the bathroom for hours.”

“We brought her energy drinks. She drank them and then went into the bathroom again.”

“Kevin called for an ambulance, but you know what? Emma entered the ambulance, but then came running to the bathroom like she forgot something important there.”

“Pfft…puhahaha.”

As the employees chuckled and laughed hysterically while talking shit about Emma, Naomi was quite upset and angered.

“Emma’s image isn’t as solid in this company as I thought,” Noami muttered under her breath. “And they’re referring to Kevin by his name and not referring to him as Boss. These people don’t know how to run a company, do they?”

Naomi then entered Kevin’s room.

Kevin was reading a business magazine, checking all the ads that were posted.

Seeing Naomi, he got up and greeted her. “Sister Naomi, what brought you here? Please, sit.”

Naomi sat down.

He took out a water bottle and a soft drink can from the refrigerator and put them on the table before her.

She opened the soft drink can and took a sip. “I heard Jordan Wang came here.”

“Yeah, but he gave a difficult task. I’m not sure if I can pull it off in a month,” Kevin said with a mixed emotion on his face.

“He’s too big of a fish for your little net to handle,” Noami said. “You should make your brother-in-law and Jordan meet. Dabby’s construction tools are of top quality. He can persuade Jordan to offer a contract with your company.”

Kevin looked quite surprised. “Your husband doesn’t like me. Why would he help me?”

“I know that it’s Cecilia who brought Jordan,” Noami stated. “I can just go and ask her, you know.”

“Then why don’t you ask her?” Kevin retorted. “Is it because your pride is getting in the way? You came to me instead because you thought you could easily manipulate me. Is that it?”

Naomi took out a credit card and put it on the desk. “This is my card. I’ll let you spend up to 100K.”

Kevin smiled. “I don’t need your money, Sister Naomi. If you want me to introduce Brother-in-law Dabby to Jordan, I’ll do it. In return, I just want you to treat me like a member of the family. If you start treating me normally, your husband will follow. Little by little, the others will change, too.”

Naomi stood from the chair and walked away.

“Is the deal okay?” Kevin asked.

“Make Dabby and Jordan meet first, and then we’ll see,” Naomi replied.

Kevin smiled and sat down in his chair. “A real opportunity has shown up… all thanks to Cecilia for bringing Jordan to me. I have to buy a nice gift for her.” He thought about the million dollar reward the showman system has promised for finishing the first mission. “I guess it’s time I speed things up.”

Naomi, on the other hand, came to her car which was a silver lamborghini.

She took out her mobile and made a phone call, “Aunt Brielle, I talked with Kevin as you said. He agreed to let Dabby and Jordan meet in return for treating him like a family member.”

“Hmph, he couldn’t think of anything better than that, that unambitious fool,” Brielle snorted. “Anyway, tell Dabby to get the construction tool contract from Jordan no matter what. Millions will sail or sink with this deal.”

“Sure, Aunt. But what are you going to do about Cecilia?” Naomi hesitantly asked. “I mean, she brought Jordan to Kevin instead of bringing him to you. This is a big insult to you and to our O’Brian family. Though you ordered everyone to not support Kevin, she openly disregarded your words. If you let her go unpunished, I’m afraid… she’ll keep repeating her mistakes.”

Noelle could hear Brielle’s teeth grinding before the call ended.

Noelle smiled.

“Let the mom and daughter pull each other’s leg while I have fun,” she put on sunglasses and drove away in her Lamborghini.
