Later that evening.

Kevin arrived at FlavorNest, the food processing company run by Brielle.

Seeing his boring chevloret car, Rory snickered. “You look good in that car. It suits you.”

Rory was the second son of Brielle. He looked smart, but he was just a muscular playboy who hid behind his wife Sadia so that he wouldn’t get scolded by his mom.

“It’s rare to see you at a board meeting,” Kevin retorted. “What wind brought you here? Or should I ask ‘what skirt brought you here?’”

“Watch your tongue, you trash,” Sadia stepped out of the white Porsche. “Rory is going to inherit FlavorNest one day. He’s going to be the official heir of the O’Brian family.”

“Good luck with that, little sis,” Kevin replied. “You will need it because Big Sister always sucks up to our Aunt, and there’s no one in this world who doesn’t give in to and reward a persistent subordinate’s hard work.”

Sadia glared at him. She had a nose ring and long earrings. She was short but spicy with the tongue and quite devious with her schemes. Her friends called her Little Dynamite.

Kevin ignored Sadia and Rory and just entered the building.

Unlike Naomi, Sadia always badmouthed him and openly mocked him, so Kevin never felt the urge to be polite or friendly to her or Rory. For Cecilia’s sake, he did try to be friendly, but they mocked him even more.

On the top floor.

The board members have all arrived, including every single one of the O’Brian family members.

Kevin came to the seat next to Cecilia. It was already occupied by a certain person, Morgan Freesport, so Kevin politely asked him to take the next seat.

Morgan, a forty-five year-old man, did not like that.

Before Morgan could reply, Brielle said, “You’ll be sitting over there, toilet boy.”

She pointed at the furthest seat at the corner.

The last two words surprised everyone. Brielle did not outright disrespect Kevin like this before. After all, disrespecting him in front of other board members wouldn’t make her look that good either since he was her only son-in-law.

Cecilia frowned and looked at her mother. It felt like Brielle did it on purpose, probably because Cecilia brought Jordan Wang to the Serenity company.

Kevin forced out a smile and sat where Brielle had ordered him to.

Dabby, Rory, Naomi, and Sadia smiled, openly exhibiting their feelings.

Orlando, however, remained indifferent, maintaining his professional outlook.

Soon, the board meeting started.

“All of our major companies excelled in the last quarter, but if I took the entire last year data, the growth isn’t much,” Brielle stated. “I want a new product in every company that will boost the sales and double the profits in the next quarter.”

Everyone nodded.

Brielle looked at Dabby. “Do you have any fresh ideas for your company’s growth?”

“We’ve cracked the code for temperature-adaptive tiles, Madam Chairman,” Dabby replied professionally. “Warm in the winter, and cool in the summer. With the right kind of marketing, I’m pretty confident that our sales will exponentially increase.”

“I won’t let you waste too much money on ads,” Brielle told him. “The best kind of marketing is always the word of mouth, so make people talk, and the profits will roll into our vaults.”

Brielle then talked to other board members and asked everyone of their ideas and plans for the coming quarter.

Cecilia’s turn came, and she told her mother about the deal she made with Jordan Wang, which made many people at the table clap for her because it was a big deal.

“Don’t ruin it,” Brielle told her daughter without even giving her a little praise.

Eventually, Kevin’s turn came.

When Brielle looked at him, he said, “I’m about to build a smart squat toilet in the next month or so.”

The entire hall fell silent.

Sadia chuckled, and then everyone started laughing. Even Orlando almost cracked a smile.

“A smart squat toilet, you say?” Brielle’s voice turned cold. “Who’s going to buy them? The poor folks from the third world countries?”

“Jordan Wang,” Kevin’s reply silenced the hall once more. “If he likes the product we make, he will make a long-term contract. Serenity can expand to other cities, and if we partner with Jordan, we can even expand the company to China, Korea, and Japan. There’s also an untapped market in India. Squat toilets can conquer the eastern market if we can sell them at affordable prices.”

Cecilia was impressed by Kevin’s vision and the confidence with which he explained his intentions. She clapped for him.

Brielle’s gaze turned red. She slapped the table, making Cecilia shiver a little bit. She then glanced coldly at Kevin. “Before you conquer the eastern market, go out and bring everyone here coffee and biscuits.”

A brief silence followed.

Kevin squeezed his lips together, then got up and left the hall.

Sadia and Rory were chuckling and giggling together.

Cecilia visibly frowned.

A minute later, Kevin brought the snacks and coffee and served one by one at the table. After he finished that and was going back to his seat, Brielle said, “Kevin, there's a smell coming from the bathroom. Go and clean it.”

Kevin’s expression froze.

Cecilia clenched her fists and said, “There’s janitor for that job.”

“There’s nothing wrong with cleaning a toilet,” Brielle replied. “Besides, he’s the head of our toilet company.”

Kevin then went to the janitor on that floor, took the equipment from him and returned to the hall which had a combined bathroom.

This was only ever used by the board members.

Kevin just stood inside the bathroom, unmoving, staring at the words ‘toilet boy’ written on the mirror with lipstick.

Did Brielle write those words? Was she planning to send him to clean this bathroom before the board meeting even started?

How could she toy with his feelings and emotions like this?

Kevin’s fists tightened very much.

A message rang in his mind.

[15 hours left to complete the first mission. Do you want to clean ten bathrooms, or do you wish to cleanse nine more digestive tracts?]

There’s no way he would have survived that,” the truck driver said. “Give me the rest of the payment.”The old man pointed at his chest. The truck driver looked down and saw a red dot on his chest. His eyes widened to the max. The officer cocked the gun. “Any last wishes?”“Just one wish,” Kevin said. “Let me pray to God.”“You are going to him anyway after I pull the trigger, aren’t you?” the officer retorted.“You’ve got a point. Then let me at least tell you guys my bank password,” Kevin said. “I don’t want my money to end up in my in-laws’ pockets.”“How much money are we talking about?” the officer asked.“A million dollars,” Kevin replied. The two officers looked at each other. Greed immediately filled their eyes. The officer who was already pointing his gun at Kevin just shifted it to the second officer.“W-Wait,” the second officer was saying.BANG!A headshot killed him instantly.Kevin’s heart sank into his stomach.“I didn’t kill him, Kevin,” the officer said. “You did. Now, tell me the online password to your account.”Kevin swallowed his breath. “It’s a long password. Give me pen and paper. I will write it down.”“Do you think I’m foolish? Don’t try anything funny and say the password,” the off

The baseball bats, hockey sticks, chains, and knuckleduster punches rained down on Kevin from all quarters.Kevin’s focus, however, was only on the leader of the gang.Stepping forth, he dodged the punch of the leader, ignoring every other attack, and threw his fist which flew like a pistol. The leader’s nose broke, and blood gushed out as the leader got stunned and shook like a tree with no roots in the soil before falling to the ground. At the same time, many hits landed on Kevin, and he was badly wounded, too, but not to the point he wasn’t able to stand. And he kept standing and throwing punches left and right. His bare fists only targeted the opponents’ faces because he believed that would be the most effective. And he managed to land attacks on four men, but also got hurt by others in the process.Kevin was brought to his knee, and baseball bats pounded his back. They could have gone for his head and broke his skull, but that wasn’t their purpose. Kevin took a gamble and said he was fighting Sariyu’s brother, hoping that they had some feud between them.It turned out that his guess was correct.Sariyu gave him a chance to explain himself, but only within one minute.Kevin did not talk for the first twenty seconds, but Sariyu watched him calmly.Ten more seconds passed, and she took out a gun from the table drawer and put it on the table.Kevin swallowed his breath.“I, uh, I… fought your brother the other day,” Kevin quickly said. “He came to my grandmother-in-law’s birthday party and openly coveted my wife. I confronted him and beat his bodyguards and made him leave.”Sariyu’s face softened a bit.“I don’t think that’s enough to crush him,” Kevin added. “But if I rise, then I will resist him strongly. I will become a handy ally of yours.”Sariyu glanced at the minute-glass. “Your time is up. Do you think you’ve said enough?”Kevin hesitantly nodded.“What makes you think I’ll be happy with you crushing my brother?” She grabbed

“I’m fired?” Kevin raised his eyebrows. “Says who?”“Don’t you know who I am?” she growled. “I’m the newest board member of Draknor Finance.”“That’s a long-ass name,” Kevin snickered.“My name is Sariyu, you fool!” she went for a slap, but he was quick to catch her hand.“Wow, why are people so eager to fight me today?” Kevin said. “The guard also raised his baton a minute back.”Sariyu’s expression changed. “You’re not the guard?”“Of course not. I am the CEO,” he replied, letting go of her hand.Sariyu’s eyes widened. “Y-You’re the newly appointed CEO? Did Jim Draknor already decide on the CEO position of Draknor Finance?”“Whoa, whoa, I’m the CEO of Serenity,” Kevin clarified.“Serenity? Never heard of it.”He smiled and gave her his identity card.“Ew? Later that morning.Kevin was driving to his office in his old Chevrolet car.“What is this golf club that Aunt Brielle was talking about?” Kevin asked the system. “Do you know about it?”[Yes. About five months ago, Jack Shamus bought the Grandview Golf Estate for 2.1 billion dollars.]“2.1 billion dollars…” Kevin’s heart started racing. “He also bought a big bank, didn’t he? What is his estimated net worth?”[Officially, it’s 40 billion dollars. But I can see that his real net worth is close to 100 billion.]Kevin’s heart nearly dropped. “H-Hundred billion! No wonder he was willing to give me a thousand cars like it was nothing. How am I supposed to compete with a guy like this?”He was starting to feel goosebumps. He still couldn’t forget his mother-in-law calling him a second-hander. Those words stuck in his mind and squeezed his heart. What hurt him even more was that he couldn’t say anything at the time. He couldn’t tell her that she was wrong.Though she was being very rude, sh
