Hunted Endlessly

With an expectant smile, Edric put on his backpack and headed towards the southbound bus station! It was already dark, and the street lights were on.

He calculated the time and estimated that he would be home after eight o'clock in the evening. If he didn't hurry up, his mother would be worried!

On the way, Edric, who was running anxiously, suddenly felt several shadows on the left and right, with various lights flashing on their bodies, and rushing towards him with knives, baseball bats, and other things.

He was terrified.

These people, with ferocious faces, came to Edric and started beating him without saying any word.

In the darkness, Edric couldn't see who the people were, but he wouldn't let them beat him to death like this. He snorted coldly and punched the yellow-haired man in the front hard on the nose. 

Immediately, the yellow-haired man squatted on the ground, covering his nose, howling like a ghost, and blood flowed out from between his fingers.

The sharp knives and sticks flashed coldly under the dim street lights. These people seemed to have a deep hatred for Edric. They were angry and waved their weapons desperately at him.

Edric had mostly trained his brute strength in school this past year. He only knew one set of "Mana Gathering Fist" which was to enable students in the basic introverted stage to better gather light energy.

This set of martial arts was like a bodybuilding skill, which looked good but was useless. However, in an emergency, without the support of other skills, this set of skill was better than nothing.

With a bang, he knocked another animal to the ground. Then, looking at the gradually formed encirclement, Edric frowned slightly and kicked a man who was rushing up from behind with a sharp knife in his hand and howling.

The man was kicked to the ground. Edric jumped over the encirclement and escaped quickly!

The person behind him chased after him relentlessly, and seeing that there was no one around, he shouted loudly, "Stop right there!"

The speed of these people was not slower than Edric, so they quickly caught up with him.

Edric appeared helpless since they outnumbered him so he could only fight a guerrilla warfare with them. 

After knocking down the man on the left with one punch, he quickly slid to the right and punched the man on the right again. When he saw that the encirclement was formed again, he ran away.

The group of people were so angry that they couldn't stop one person. If the words got out, they would not be able to survive in this area anymore! So they became more and more aggressive, and the light on their bodies flashed more violently.

Although Edric had not reached the Outward Release Stage, or the extroverted stage as being generally called, and was called useless by the students, he was not stupid. He did not know what had caused the attack on him today, but he knew that he could not confront them head-on, otherwise he would be surrounded and chopped into pieces.

So he kept walking and stopping, and when he saw that there were fewer people, he would go up and punch them, regardless of whether he could hit them or not, and would dodge after hitting them, leaving no chance for these people to surround him. 

These people also looked like novices, and it was their first time to surround others. Their feet were very awkward, and they were led around by Edric alone.

He ran away with these people after him, but he didn't expect that they would not stop even after they reached the station. Edric frowned and looked at the mountains in front of him. If he wanted to avoid being chased by these animals, he could only hide in the mountains.

So he passed the station and ran towards the eastern part of the occupied safe zone which was known as the Union.

Due to a violent meteorite impact one hundred years ago, the earth's crust shifted dramatically, and all the continents of the earth were combined into one piece. The pieces of a puzzle were completely disrupted.

The eastern part of the union, which should have been a plain area a hundred years ago, was now surrounded by mountains.

Looking at the group of desperate criminals chasing him relentlessly, Edric gritted his teeth, turned around and ran towards the mountains.

"Don't let him enter the mountains!" A group of people behind him roared madly, and their pace suddenly quickened.

Looking at the two people approaching him quickly, Edric suddenly turned around and tried to  hit the face of the man behind him, but the man lowered his head and actually dodged it.

"Screw you……" Edric kneed the crouching guy and knocked him flying. He lay on the ground, twitched twice, and then became motionless. He thought the man was dead and stood there for a while without moving.

In just a moment, another man nearby rushed up, like a tiger coming down the mountain, jumped over, and slashed down fiercely with the machete in its hand.

Edric subconsciously raised his left arm to block it.

What surprised both of them was that the long blade only penetrated one or two millimeters into Edric's left elbow and could not go any further. The man pressed down with his hand so hard that he even pushed Edric's entire left hand down a little, but the long knife could not cut into Edric's body any further.

"Fuck off!" Edric had no time to care about his left wrist. He swung his right fist and knocked the man who had been staring at his left arm in shock, away. The man lay on the ground foaming in the mouth and fainted.

"Whoever can kill this brat will be rewarded with 100,000 union coins!" The yellow-haired man, who had his nose broken and blood spurting out of it, roared.

He chased after Edric relentlessly, pointing the long blade in his hand at him as he ran, and spoke viciously to the people around him.

One hundred thousand federal coins was not a small amount. When these people heard about such a huge reward, they rushed towards Edric even more frantically.

"Why are you people trying to kill me?" Edric half turned around, ready to run away at any time.

"You don't fucking need to know. Just give us your life here and we'll go on our way!" the yellow-haired man shouted coldly.

"Then come and take it!" Looking at the crowd getting closer and closer, Edric turned around and ran towards the mountains without hesitation.

The yellow-haired man wiped the blood from under his nose, looked at Edric's running figure, took out his cell phone, dialed a number, and after the call went through, he said in a low voice: "Boss, this guy is a tough guy! He has injured many of our brothers!"

On the other end of the phone, a young man was lying by the swimming pool, with two beautiful women in bikinis serving him. This man was Simon Carter. He snorted coldly and cursed, "You useless people, you can't even do such a small task. What's the point of all my efforts?" After a pause, he suddenly asked, "Edric doesn't know your identities, does he?"

"Don't worry, Boss. The kid doesn't know!" The man said shyly, "But can you send some people from the martial arts school to support us? We just can't catch him. If not, we could have killed him. We don't have to worry about someone recognizing us on this desolate mountain!"

Simon's father, Sullivan, ran the 'Carter Mixed Martial Arts School', which was one of the four major families in the Union. There were 64 districts in the Union, and the martial arts school currently has branches in 30 districts.

There happened to be one next to the Seven Stars Academy.

"Tell me your location!" Simon said impatiently.

These people were all outsiders of the martial arts school, and most of them were thugs in society. They were indeed incapable of accomplishing anything and always caused trouble.

After getting the specific location, he hung up the phone and dialed another number.

In the branch of the Carter's Mixed Martial Arts School two streets away from the Seven Stars Academy, a middle-aged man in his forties glanced at his phone, frowned, and then asked calmly, "Who?"

"Uncle, it's me, Simon!"

"Simon, is there something you want to talk to me about so late at night?" Dwayne said.

"Please, I need your help, uncle!"

"What happened?!"

"It's...." He explained. 

"Okay."  Dwayne smiled and nodded after hearing what happened. He laughed and said, "Leave it to me. Tomorrow morning I will have the news of that kid's mysterious death reported in major federal newspapers!" 

After hanging up the phone, he got up and went to a practice room.

Inside, a young man wearing only shorts, sweating profusely, was concentrating on practicing martial arts.

"Garland!" Dwayne shouted.

When he saw that it was Dwayne who came in, he said respectfully: "Director, is there anything I can help you with?"

"Just a small matter!" Dwayne said with a smile."
