Chapter 12: Cleaning the Docks
last update2026-07-22 20:14:22

Blaring alarms from the nearby container yard echoed through the glass windows of the dockyard command center.

Inside, the air was thick with the sharp smell of cheap coffee and sweat. Papers covered every surface, and two industrial shredders hummed loudly in the corner, eating through stacks of shipping manifests.

Captain Park shoved another armful of documents into the teeth of the machine. His hands trembled so violently he could barely hold the paper straight.

"Faster, you idiots!" Park barked, turning to his three remaining junior accountants. "If those federal prosecutors pull the server logs before we wipe the physical trail, we’re all going to rot in maximum security!"

"They won't need the server logs, Captain."

A sharp, calm voice cut through the noise of the shredders.

The side entrance slid open, and Jin stepped inside. He didn't look like a man who had just shattered a three-billion-dollar corporate empire single-handedly. His grey suit was immaculate, his hair was neatly combed, and his posture was completely relaxed.

Park froze, dropping a stack of invoices onto the floor. "You..."

Behind Jin, three men in expensive suits pushed past him into the room. At the front was Director Kang’s chief legal counsel, clutching a thick leather folder like a shield.

"Get out of here, clerk," the lawyer spat, ignoring Jin completely as he marched toward Park. "Park, sign these documents right now. We filed an emergency report claiming you and your dock workers faked the fuel manifests to steal three billion dollars over four years. Sign the confession, take the fall, and Kang will make sure your family gets ten million in an offshore account."

Park’s jaw dropped. "Ten million?! You promised me fifty percent of the cut! Kang is throwing me to the dogs!"

"You're a dirty dock manager, Park! You take what you're given or you go down alone!" the lawyer yelled, thrusting a pen into Park's trembling hand. "Sign it!"

Park stared at the paper, his chest heaving. He was trapped. Sign and take thirty years in prison with a payout for his family, or refuse and get dragged down by Kang anyway.

"Don't bother signing," Jin said softly, stepping between them. "The paper is useless."

The lawyer whirled around, his eyes burning with anger. "Are you deaf, Jin? You’re a fired low-level clerk! Security, throw this dog out onto the docks!"

The two private security guards stepped forward, but before they could lay a finger on Jin, a neon red line flared across his vision.

Jin didn't flinch. He simply reached into his jacket, pulled out his phone, and tapped the screen twice.

Suddenly, the massive wall monitors in the command center—usually reserved for tracking container ships—flickered. The live feed of the shipping bay disappeared, replaced by a glaring red interface displaying two private bank statements side-by-side.

The entire room went dead silent.

On the left screen was the lawyer's personal account in the Cayman Islands, showing a fresh $2 Million deposit sent from Director Kang's private slush fund just forty minutes ago labeled 'Scapegoat Retainer'.

On the right screen was Captain Park’s secret ledger, showing five years of stolen fuel funds, fake maintenance logs, and illegal smuggling kickbacks totaling $18 Million.

"What... what is this?!" the lawyer stammered, his face turning as white as paper. "How do you have access to international banking ledgers?!"

"You wanted a scapegoat to save Kang," Jin said, his voice cold and devoid of emotion. "And Park was trying to shred his way out of a life sentence. But neither of you realized something very simple."

Jin took a step forward, pulling a gold-stamped document from his inner pocket and slapping it onto the desk over the fake confession.

"Director Kang doesn't own Cheonji Logistics anymore," Jin said, his eyes locking onto Park's terrified face. "The International Financial Regulatory Association stripped his ownership thirty minutes ago. I hold one hundred percent of the shares."

Park staggered back, hitting the edge of the shredder. "You... you own the company?"

"I own the docks, I own the ships, and I own every single asset in this room," Jin said. "Including the evidence you just tried to burn."

Sirens wailed in the distance, growing louder by the second until red and blue lights flashed brightly through the wide glass windows. The heavy double doors burst open, and six armed federal agents marched into the room, led by a senior prosecutor.

"Nobody move!" the prosecutor ordered, holding up an official federal warrant. "We received a verified digital evidence package detailing a corporate forgery and systematic embezzlement network."

Jin pointed calmly at the lawyer and Captain Park.

"The lawyer forged the backdated confession to frame the dock crew," Jin told the prosecutor smoothly. "And Captain Park hid eighteen million dollars in stolen fuel assets in the secondary shredder under his desk."

Park fell to his knees, clutching his head in utter despair as the federal officers grabbed his arms, slapping cold iron handcuffs around his wrists.

"Jin! Please!" Park whimpered, his face pressed against the floorboards. "I was just following Kang's orders! Give me a chance! I know how the docks run! You need me!"

"I don't need snakes in my port," Jin replied coldly, not even bothering to look down as Park was dragged out screaming into the night.

The lawyer was cuffed right beside him, his expensive suit ruined, sobbing as the agents pushed him through the door.

Within minutes, the command center was quiet again.

Jin stood alone in the center of the office, looking out at the massive cranes and rows of shipping containers under the bright floodlights.

Ding!

Jin adjusted his collar, a slow, dark smile touching his lips as he looked at his reflection in the dark glass.

"Let them strike," Jin muttered softly. "It just makes cleaning the boardroom easier."

  • Chapter 8: Arrogant Bait

Faded yellow streetlights flickered overhead as Jin walked toward the convenience store near his apartment. He was holding a black plastic bag containing a cheap bottle of water and a triangular kimbap. Even though he had millions of dollars sitting in his bank account, his habits hadn't changed overnight. He still wore his oversized black hoodie, worn-out sneakers, and faded jeans. To anyone passing by, he looked like a struggling, stressed-out young man who could barely afford rent. "Well, look who it is," a sharp, familiar voice sneered from the shadows of the alleyway. Jin stopped walking. Min-ah stepped out from under a dripping awning. She had swapped her stunning white engagement gown for a pair of high-end designer sunglasses, a trench coat, and expensive leather boots. Despite her fashionable clothes, her eyes were bloodshot, and she looked exhausted. She stared at Jin’s cheap convenience store bag, and a cruel, mocking smirk slowly spread across her face. "I knew
