7. Cross the Line

Felix returned to the dormitory not long after, wanting to check on the condition of his friends and intending to take them to the hospital to receive treatment.

"Felix, you're finally back. Where did you go?"

"Felix, you didn't do anything stupid, did you?"

"I hope he didn't, because our university life would be over if he did."

Kody, Eric, and Levin immediately bombarded Felix with questions; they were curious what Felix had just done when he came out.

"Take it easy; I didn't do anything. You better get ready; we're going to the hospital as soon as possible," Felix said.

"Going to the hospital? I don't think that's necessary, Felix."

"That's right, we're fine."

Kody, Eric, and Levin were united in refusing Felix's invitation; the hospital fees were not cheap, and the three of them did not have enough money for that. They told Felix this, hoping he would understand.

Felix heard this and could only let out a long sigh. Both Kody, Eric, and Levin were from ordinary families. The three of them were able to get into the famously elite Aberfoth University only because they were smart enough to get scholarships, so Felix could more or less understand their situation.

"I'll pay for the hospital fees; you just need to go with me there," Felix said, trying to reassure the three.

Kody, Eric, and Levin immediately glanced at each other. They had known Felix for a long time, so they knew that Felix wouldn't have enough money for that either.

"Felix, instead of going to the hospital, why don't you treat us to a meal?" Kody suggested.

"That's right; after all, isn't it better to eat well than to eat medicine that will almost certainly taste bitter?" said Eric.

Felix clearly didn't agree to this, as his friends were in really bad shape and in dire need of medical treatment.

"Felix, we're fine. Look, I can even move freely as usual. Auch!"

Kody hadn't finished his sentence when Felix suddenly touched his shoulder—just a small touch, and Kody was already wincing in pain. This proved that Kody's words were just nonsense.

Felix tried to persuade his friends once again out of concern, but they still refused, making Felix inevitably agree to their suggestion.

"Alright, if that's what you want. Now get ready; I'll treat you to some food," Felix said with resignation.

Kody, Eric, and Levin immediately smiled happily at this, thinking that letting Felix treat them would cost less than taking them to the hospital to receive treatment.

Until Felix suddenly took them to a restaurant not far from the campus, which was a five-star restaurant with unreasonable prices for each meal, they were at a loss for words.

Kody, Eric, and Levin just froze not far from the entrance of the restaurant; they were really confused why Felix even invited them to eat there.

"Felix, are you sure you want to treat us here?" asked Kody.

"Of course, why?" Felix asked back, noticing the hesitation on his three friends' faces as they were about to enter the restaurant.

"Felix, do you know what this restaurant is? The price of one menu here is probably enough to spend a few months of your part-time job salary," said Kody, who was immediately confirmed by Eric and Levin.

Kody, Eric, and Levin certainly knew how difficult Felix's life had been, so they didn't want Felix to waste his hard-earned money just to treat them.

Felix, who knew his friends very well, immediately knew what the three of them were worried about.

"Never mind; I have the money. You guys asked me to treat you, right? If so, let's go in quickly."

Kody, Eric, and Levin did not just say yes to Felix's invitation; they felt guilty if they had to make Felix spend a large amount of money just to treat them.

Not to mention that if they said yes to Felix's invitation, then this would be no different or perhaps worse than the treatment costs that Felix would bear if he took them to the hospital.

"Never mind, why are you hesitating? Let's just go in."

Despite the rejection, Felix forced them to enter the restaurant. Felix wanted to at least alleviate his guilt that they had to be hurt because of him by taking them to eat fancy food there.

Felix had yet to find a better way than this, especially after he received a black card that meant he no longer had to worry about money.

Felix himself didn't mind spending large sums of money if it made his friends happy.

Kody, Eric, and Levin were finally willing to accept Felix's invitation, even though they were forced to. Unfortunately, before they entered the restaurant, their steps had to be stopped because the security guard shouted at them.

"Where do you think you're going, you punks?"

Felix and his friends suddenly turned their heads towards the security guard, who had just shouted. They were confused as to why the security guard looked angry just because of their presence.

In the midst of this situation, Felix noticed the security guard's judgmental gaze. The security guard looked Felix and his three friends up and down before grunting in annoyance.

"You four better get out of here as soon as possible!" the security guard exclaimed.

"What? Why?" asked Felix, not understanding.

"Still asking? You punks can't afford to eat at this restaurant, so you better get out of here quickly," said the security guard with a shooing gesture.

Felix clenched his fists tightly, not at all expecting to receive this kind of treatment when he came just to enjoy a meal.

Felix, who was tired of receiving this kind of treatment from almost everyone he knew, certainly did not stay silent, let alone obey the security guard's orders to him.

"My friends and I just came here to enjoy a meal; how can you kick us out for no reason?" Felix said.

"For no reason? Look at the way you look; do punks think you have the money to eat at a five-star restaurant like this?" The security guard was still adamant about evicting Felix and his friends.

Felix's hearing this clearly felt even more humiliated; he didn't think there was anything wrong with how he and his friends looked. Not to mention, the battered faces of his friends now were not what they wanted either. Should they be expelled just because of that? No matter how many times he thought about it, Felix still couldn't accept it.

"Hey, what are you waiting for? Hurry up and get out of here; your presence here is already disturbing other customers," said the security guard.

"What have we done to disturb the customers in this restaurant? Don't talk nonsense," said Felix, fed up with the security guard's ramblings.

Kody, Eric, and Levin immediately tried to calm Felix, who was starting to look upset. They persuaded Felix to leave immediately because their presence did not seem to be welcome.

"Listen to your friends' advice and leave, brat. Don't be ignorant by continuing to mess around here," said the security guard with a sardonic smile.

Felix's eyes turned to glare at the security guard. He felt that the security guard had crossed the line, and this was unacceptable.
