Chapter 6

Daniel still felt overwhelmed with all that happened and how his life suddenly changed but the looks that the customers, the sales attendant and the security had on their faces were priceless and he so badly wanted to laugh in their face and say “In your faces suckers” but fought against it.

“Now, I want you to help dress his injuries, give him something to eat, clothes to wear and anything he requests of” King Kingston said then walked in the direction of the manager’s office.

Daniel felt like he was living in a dream. Everything that had happened in the last few days felt surreal. He had gone from being a nobody, a penniless man with no family, to learning that he was the son of a wealthy man. And now, he was learning that he was actually the heir to a king! It was like something out of a fairy tale.

When he was properly attended to, he told his dad that he wanted to tell Jordan and his family that he wouldn’t require their help anymore, but his father told him not to do that because they were going home.

As Daniel and his father walked out of the store, Daniel could feel the eyes of the sacked attendant and security guard on him, pleading for forgiveness. But he ignored them, feeling a sense of vindication and satisfaction. He had been mistreated by these people, and now they were getting what they deserved. He was glad that his father had taken a stand for him. He felt a new sense of self-worth and confidence, knowing that he had the support of a powerful man. For the first time in his life, he felt like he truly belonged.

Nothing could describe the warmth that spread in his chest because he was at the mercy of nearly everyone all his life. Now, it was the other way round.

When they entered the car, his father explained to him all about the family he is from and that he has to be careful because he has so many enemies but since he was able to overcome all the challenges he faced while growing up, he will be able to face them and put them all in their places.

He said he would crown him when he sees that Daniel is truly fit for the crown but now, Daniel needs to show how powerful he is by taking care of himself and looking good, so he gave him a card to use wherever he goes.

"This badge will signify your status, your authority," the father said, handing Daniel the badge. "It will show others that you are not to be trifled with. You are a member of the most powerful family in the land, and you are to be treated with the respect that you deserve."

Daniel took the badge, feeling the weight of its significance. It was more than just a piece of metal. It was a symbol of his new life, a life filled with opportunity and power. And with this badge, he would show the world that he was not to be underestimated.

“This is our family sign?” Daniel asked, and his father nodded.

"This logo is not just a mark of distinction, it is a symbol of respect and if you don't have it, make sure to carry this badge" the father said, his words resounding with authority. "Anyone who sees it will know that you are not to be trifled with. They will know that you are to be treated with the highest regard, no matter their station in life. This logo is known and respected throughout the world, and it will be your shield and your armour. You will not be underestimated. You will be treated with the respect that is due to you."

Daniel took the badge and held it closer to himself. Finally, the respect he always wanted, the wealth he always dreamed about, is finally with him because he is a Kingston heir.

“Dad, thank you very much but I need to treat my injuries, they still hurt even though they are dressed and looks neat, I need to make sure that I am properly healed so I can start my transformation”

His father nods in agreement and then gives him the name of a well-renowned doctor to go for treatment.

“I already made an appointment with him on your behalf for tomorrow. Make sure you go there before heading to school, okay?” Daniel nods “I want to give you the best that you never got all your life, I have found you my son and nothing will take you away from me” he smiled at Daniel and Daniel hugged his dad.

“Thank you, dad”

“You are welcome. You will use tonight to get to know more about your roots, eat properly, and prepare a schedule for yourself”

“Okay sir” he said, and they continued talking about anything till they got home. The day was quite tiring for them, so his father retired to his room earlier after they had a delicious dinner together.

Daniel stayed up to read some of the books that talk about their roots, but he was too tired from the events of the day and dozed off.

It was already morning, and when Daniel woke up, his dad had already gone for a meeting in other parts of their company. He readied himself and then went to the gym for a little tour before going to the hospital.

He didn’t wear a shirt that had his family logo in it, but he remembered to carry the badge. He got to the hospital in no time and then went to the nurse that was by the counter in the reception area. He greets her.

“Hello ma’am, I am here for my appointment with Dr. Hei” the nurse looked at him from the crown of his head to the sole of his feet, then back at his face with an irritated look.

“Who are you, and what made you think that we offer expensive services to beggars like you?” she asked, her tone showed a hint of irritation.

“You are mistaken miss, I am not a beggar, my dad is actually wealthy and he made me an appointment with the head doctor here so, please let me see him for I have school to go to soon” he said to her and she laughed at him then another nurse came to ask what the issue was.

“This pauper claims to be a wealthy man’s son and that his father made him an appointment with the head doctor, Dr. Hei, he even had the guts to say I should be quick like we offer services to poor people like him”

“King Kingston did make an appointment for his son yesterday night, but I don’t know if he is the one.” The other nurse said as she looked at him.

“He can never be. He might just be like the other homeless jerks that came in here to lie about being related to some important people because they needed free, expensive medical treatment.” The nurse that mocked him said to the other nurse with a disgusted look on her face. “Patrice, just look at him.”

“That’s true, Jane. He could be one of them.” Patrice then turns towards Daniel “Leave so that we don’t have to call security to escort you.” She warned, butler Daniel didn’t want to leave because he was going to show them that he was the son of their boss and an important person.

He took in a deep breath for a while as he brought out the logo from his pocket and showed it to them. 

Deep down, he knows that showing them the logo was definitely going to change a whole lot of things. 

The two nurses looked at each other before bursting out laughing at him.

“You’re ridiculous if you think we will believe that the badge is real. You can’t trick us, leave, and never come back, or else we will call the cops on you.” Patrice said to Daniel with full disgust and hatred and after his statement, he swiftly faced Jane to speak to her.
