Chapter 7

Daniel called their attention again but they ignored him, just then a doctor came to the counter to greet the girls. Both of them looked at him dreamily as they answered him.

“How are you doing Dr. Hei?” Jane asked as she traced his hands that lie on the counter. He laughed at her then shook his head.

“I am good Jane, how about you?” he asked then winked at Patrice.

“Good, now that you are here” she batted her eyelashes.

Patrice held his hand then pouted with furrows lining her forehead “I am not a fine doctor, maybe you will like to check me later” she returned the wink and he laughed.

“Whatever is wrong with you could be resolved by booking an appointment with the right doctor to check what exactly is wrong with you” he explained to them.

He noticed a man bowing his head by the counter and was going to ask about him but Jane took his other hand by distracting him.

“We want you to be our appointed doctor so that you can check us really well for any… thing” she grinned.

Dr. Hei shook his head with a laugh, “Go check yourselves, you will be good” he withdrew his hands from their hold then picked up his phone which he put on the counter.

“Can we come by your place later tonight?” Patrice asked.

“No,” he answered and they both pouted “I need to leave now, I will be back soon but make sure King Kingston’s son is well taken care of till I come back, I need to attend to something.” He said to them,

“Yes Dr. Hei” Patrice slurred and Jane batted her eyelashes at him.

Dr. Hei turned and looked at Daniel again who was shaking his head at the nurse’s behavior then it hit him. He was the son that he had been waiting for then he greets him with a bow. The nurses wondered what was going on and asked.

“Dr. Hei, why are you bowing to the homeless beggar?” Jane asked.

“Homeless beggar?” he asked with eyes wide open.

“Yes, he came here pretending to be the son of a wealthy man and had the guts to bring a forged badge to cajole us into believing his lies” Patrice eyed him.

“He thinks we are fools” Jane hissed then focused her attention on Dr. Hei.

“Well, you both are fools” Dr. Hei said in annoyance then turned to Daniel with a bow. “I am really sorry about what happened here sir Kingston, it will never happen again” he glared at the nurses who had confused looks on their faces which was replaced with looks of horror when it occurred to them.

“He is truly King Kingston’s son” Jane muttered then looks at Daniel with a pleading look

“What trouble have you gotten me into, Jane” Patrice cried with her hands over her head like she was mourning.

“I will get back to you both but just know that you are in trouble” he pointed at the two nurses in annoyance then turned back to Daniel. “Sir, I am really sorry for these two idiots and their behavior towards you, it will never happen again” Dr. Hei assured.

“Is this how they behave to patients? Just because they think they are poor, they choose to maltreat them like they don’t matter?” Daniel asked in anger.

His heart felt heavy because of what was happening, he could feel hot air coming out of his nose as he breathed loud and hard from the anger he felt.

“They think they talk to people badly like they own this place?” he asked again.

The two nurses had sorry looks on their faces and they joined their hands together as they pleaded for mercy.

“Please, sir Kingston, I never knew that you were the important person we were expecting” Patrice tried to explain “I thought you we-”

“A pauper that you can talk to badly? Treat like trash?” he laughed then shook his head.

“We are so sorry sir, this will never happen again, just don’t let us lose our jobs. We need this job sir” Jane pleads

Daniel looked at the head doctor then asked “Where am I to be attended to?”

Dr. Hei moves out of the way as he leads him towards his office. A smile crept on his lips when he heard the terrified words of the two nurses.

“We are finished”

“We are both going to lose our jobs,” they cried.

Dr. Hei led him into his office then started treating him and making conversations but he never failed to beg him about how he was treated by those nurses.

“I will be happy if you didn’t mention what happened to your dad, he is a very powerful man and when he gets angry, it’s scary” he said to Daniel and all Daniel could do was smile.

“You should actually teach your workers how to talk and treat people regardless of their status or whatever that ties to them, they didn’t know I was from a powerful family and all because of my dressing, they regarded me as a beggar and even went as far as to calling me all sort of names and accusing me of impersonation” he shook his head.

“I will make sure that they are seriously dealt with, and will make sure such things don’t happen” Dr. Hei assured him and continued with the treatment.

After almost an hour, he was done and gave Daniel some prescriptions before releasing him to leave. He escorted Daniel to the pharmacy and on their way there, some of the doctors and nurses that passed them by were looking Daniel in shock and wonder due to the revelation of his identity, most of them bowed to him as he and Dr. Hei walked by and it gave him a sense of elevation that he had the upper hand now.

When he spoke with the pharmacist, her voice trembled as she answered his questions and when he was done there, Dr. Hei escorted him to the reception area where the fear-filled nurses were.

They saw him and rushed to him then went on their knees as they begged him.

They were frightened and their knees felt so weak. It was obvious that they were freaking frightened. 

“Plea... please sir, forgive us. Please forgive us because we... we don’t want to lose our jobs." Jane pleaded as she wrapped both hands together while begging.

"We... we will never do such a thing to you or anyone else,  so please.” Jane begged with more tears running down her cheeks.

She was really scared because she deeply knows what he can do. 

Patrice on the other hand was panicking that all she could do was let the tears fall down her cheeks.

Daniel scuffed. 

He eyed the two nurses then turned to Dr. Hei “What punishment did you have in mind for them?” he asked coldly.

“Suspension… for three weeks." He uttered with a cold and deadly aura. "Will teach them a good lesson.” he added as his lips curve into a devilishly smirk. .

Daniel shook his head then smirked even more at the girls “They will not have suspension." 

Upon hearing this, the two nurses jumped on their feet in happiness as they hugged each other then thanked him for showing mercy but the next words that came out of his mouth shattered whatever good feeling they had moments ago.

“They should be demoted to be cleaners to the interning doctors and nurses.” He uttered with a cold voice that of course goosebumps down the spine of the girl's.

Dr. Hei nods in response to his demands. “That will teach them how to behave with people and probably humble them.” he said then left the hospital after bidding goodbye to his doctor.
