The scarred man and his companions had broken through the forest. Seeing Zhou Feng pressing deeper into Creek Mountain, the scarred man’s face twisted with anxiety. The five figures blurred and shot forward like lightning, closing the distance fast.

The shout sent a cold shiver down Zhou Feng’s spine. Every instinct screamed danger — and without a second’s hesitation, he veered sharply to the right, vanishing from where he stood.

BOOM!

Five brutal strikes landed exactly where he’d been an instant before, tearing a massive crater into the hillside, dust and debris billowing outward.

"Such power… at least the third level of Body Tempering!" Zhou Feng’s eyes widened as he glanced back. Five experts at the third level or higher had been sent to kill him? His expression hardened instantly. "Fine. If you want my life… don’t blame me for being ruthless!"

He was still far from even the first level of Body Tempering. Head-on, he stood no chance. But he kept his mind sharp and his breathing steady. He knew exactly where he was — and what lurked in these hills.

"Don’t let him get away!" the scarred man roared. He pushed off the ground, launching himself forward like a cannonball, closing the gap terrifyingly fast.

Zhou Feng was already outpaced, and now they were giving chase with everything they had. It wouldn’t be long before they caught up.

"They really think I’m such a threat," Zhou Feng gritted out, sweat stinging his eyes. He opened every sense he had, his body humming with tension. One mistake — and he was dead.

His breath came in ragged gasps. He was exhausted, his body crying out for rest. But he wasn’t running blindly — every turn, every change of pace, was deliberate. He was leading them somewhere.

"Brother, this kid is slippery!" one of the Five Ghosts grumbled, frustration edging his voice. "Even with his meridians wrecked, he keeps slipping away!"

They all knew Creek Mountain was no playground. The deeper they went, the more dangerous it became. Beasts roamed these hills — and if they ran into something stronger than themselves, they’d be the ones dying instead of him.

"He’s slowing down," the scarred man snapped. "Keep pushing!" He’d noticed the pattern: Zhou Feng would pull ahead, then falter, then surge again just when they got close. It was maddening.

He was only at the fourth level of Body Tempering — powerful enough to crush a bull, but nowhere near strong enough to feel safe this deep in the mountains. Some beasts here could kill him with nothing but a roar.

"Almost there!" Zhou Feng gasped, his chest heaving, face flushed. But beneath the exhaustion, his eyes gleamed with cold resolve.

Whoosh — whoosh — whoosh —

Five figures landed fifty meters away, blocking his path.

"He’s finally run out of breath!" the scarred man grinned, relief mixing with menace.

"Why… why did you stop?" One of the bandits panted, hands on his knees. They’d chased him for kilometers, and they were tired too.

Zhou Feng smiled — bright, calm, and utterly unsettling. It made them hesitate. Who smiles when they’re cornered?

"Enough running," Zhou Feng said, his voice steady. "If you want to fight… then come."

Before they could blink, he leaped into the air and charged straight at them.

"He’s lost his mind!" the scarred man sneered. "So eager to die?"

The other four exchanged glances and rushed forward to meet him.

"Die!" The scarred man swung a massive fist straight toward Zhou Feng’s forehead.

But in that split second, Zhou Feng raised something in his hand — a pouch filled with thick, dark blood. His smile turned sharp and dangerous.

"Enjoy the welcome party I prepared for you!"

He hurled it hard. The pouch burst open right in front of them, showering them in a heavy, metallic-scented spray.

The scarred man froze. His eyes went wide with horror.

"That’s… Demonic Ape blood!!"

It was too late. They were soaked in it.

And then — a deafening roar shook the very ground beneath them. The trees trembled. Even Zhou Feng’s composure cracked. He knew exactly what was coming.

The word "mother" felt so foreign to him. He had grown up under his grandmother’s care, never knowing who his mother was. Every time he had asked, he had been met with stern silence — a quiet message that she was gone, perhaps forever. Zhou Feng understood that ache all too well. He, too, had been raised by old Zhou Lu, barely remembering his father’s face, let alone a mother he had never seen. "Senior… please tell me where she is," Feng said softly, his heart heavy. He was this world's Zhou Feng now — and he would find the answers he deserved. Senior Bai looked at him, a flicker of regret crossing his gaunt face. "Come with me." He led Feng to the wooden shelf, sighing quietly. "Your father made me promise not to burden you with the truth. But… I suppose some things are meant to be known in their own time." He turned to face him, his expression growing solemn. "Let me tell you this much first. Most of the mid-level techniques here were brought back by your father. Seven out of te

They walked past the sixth floor and stepped onto the seventh. Zhou Feng stood frozen at the top of the stairs, completely stunned. This was the most forbidden place in the entire Zhou family — and yet it was nothing like he had imagined. The room was small, barely sixty or seventy square meters, simple and dimly lit. A wooden table, a chair, one wooden bookshelf, and a single futon at the far end. That was all. No gold, no jewels, no grand displays of power. "Is this… really the seventh floor?" Zhou Feng whispered in disbelief. "The first forbidden area of our family?" Even the first floor was far more lavish than this. Senior Bai smiled faintly. "Gorgeous exteriors are just decoration. True value lies within." He gestured around the quiet room. "The Zhou family holds one thousand and sixty martial arts techniques in total. More than six hundred are low-level, over three hundred are mid-level, ten are high-level… and two are Sky-level techniques." "So many?!" Zhou Feng’s eyes went

"You look remarkably like a young man I saw thirty years ago — just as careful, just as thoughtful," Senior Bai said softly, changing the subject. "Tell me… what is Zhou Qin to you?" Zhou Feng blinked in surprise. "He… he is my father." "Good! What magnificent bloodline!" The old man laughed heartily, his voice rolling through the sandalwood corridors. "Qin possessed exceptional gifts — and it seems his son is every bit his equal!" Zhou Feng’s mind raced. Could the legendary figure Senior Bai spoke of be my own father? "Senior… was that person you mentioned… my father?" "Who else in this family carries the name Qin?" Senior Bai’s eyes twinkled, though there was a sharp, knowing glint within them. "Thirty years ago, I secluded myself and met him. Now I emerge again — and here you stand. Will I seclude myself once more and meet your son thirty years from now?" Zhou Feng nearly choked. "Senior, I’m only fourteen!" he protested, flustered. Besides… he wasn't even originally from this

  • 20. The Seventh Floor

"Congratulations on your return from seclusion, Senior Bai!" Zhou Min bowed deeply, sweat beading on his forehead. "The Clan Leader and elders will be overjoyed to hear this news!" Senior Bai was more than just a revered guest — he was the Zhou family's living legend. Even the very first generation founders of the family had treated him with profound respect. No one knew exactly how long he had dwelt within the family grounds, but everyone knew it spanned at least five hundred years. The oldest elder of the family, himself over five centuries old, still bowed to this frail old man. Senior Bai ignored Zhou Min completely and turned his gaze toward Zhou Feng. "Your name is Feng?" he asked gently. "This junior is indeed Zhou Feng, Senior." Zhou Feng bowed respectfully. He knew of the family's ancient hermit — the one spoken of only in whispers. Standing before him now, he felt a natural awe. Even with two lifetimes behind him, he was in the presence of someone who had watched empires

"Grandpa Min!" Zhou Kong instantly switched from fury to a bright, ingratiating smile. He stepped forward, looking as meek as a lamb. "It’s been a while. I missed everyone, so I came back to visit." Zhou Min’s stern expression softened visibly. He patted Kong’s shoulder affectionately. "Sky Sect must be treating you well, then. Go on in — I’ll handle things here." His gaze then shifted to Zhou Feng, turning icy in an instant. "I saw everything that happened," Zhou Min declared, his voice dropping to a heavy, authoritative tone. "Zhou Feng — do you know your offense?" "My offense?" Zhou Feng’s eyes narrowed. Zhou Min and Zhou Yong were brothers — of course he would side with family. But to lie so brazenly in public… "Such a thick, dark murderous aura radiating from you," Zhou Min said, a cruel smile touching his lips. "Cultivating with a heart full of hatred will only ruin your path. Today, I shall correct your attitude on behalf of the family!" Before Feng could speak, Zhou Min w

"Oh…" The pale-faced young man blinked in surprise, then stared wide-eyed at Zhou Feng. "Your dantian… it’s healed?" "I said — get out of my way." This was Zhou Kong — Zhou Kang’s younger brother. And he was no ordinary cousin. At just thirteen years old, he was already an outer disciple of the Sky Sect, a rising star whose talent was spoken of in the same breath as the greatest young masters of the region. He stood at the fifth level of Body Tempering, barely one realm behind his older brother — and with two years less cultivation time. Everyone knew it was only a matter of time before he surpassed even Zhou Kang. "So that’s how it is." Zhou Kong’s surprise faded, replaced by a cold, arrogant smirk. "Just as my brother warned me — you’ve grown far too cocky for someone who was recently a cripple. Fine. Let me see exactly how much of that 'number one genius' reputation you still deserve!" He pushed the young girl aside, his posture shifting instantly. He didn't even bother to remov
