Chapter 27

Jasper wasted no time heading back to Ezmerelda. He bid farewell to the drake and ran until he was almost back to the entrance of the enchanted forest. As promised Ezmerelda was there waiting for him however the vampire child was not in sight. Jasper wondered if she was still here possibly hiding in the shadows to watch what Jasper does so, she can report any false hoods to Ezmerelda. “Where is the child?” Jasper asked curiously. Ezmerelda smiled and said, “I sent her home. I saw no reason for her to stick around and wait with me I prefer to be alone sometimes. So, were you successful in retrieving what I asked you to acquire?”

Jasper pulled the artifact out of his pocket and showed it to her. “An even trade? I will hand you this at the same time you hand me the sapphire agreed?” Ezmerelda nodded and than she too pulled the gem from her pocket. They approached each other than exchanged their items.
