Terry flashed Eddie a smile, and as he bounded down the steps, he didn't look like he wanted to say anything towards him though.
But too bad for him, Eddie was already out of the car and running behind him.
Alicia shouted for Eddie to stop, but he ignored her cries, tackling down Terry to the ground. They wrestled but Terry had the upperhand, as he did have more experience in combat than Eddie ever would.
Eddie found himself pinned on his back, Terry's forearm pressed against Eddie's neck.
"What the hell do you want, Eddie?" Terry asked, eyes glaring down at him.
"I want to know what the hell you're doing here." he choked out, his vision getting a bit spotty as he began to lose air. Terry leaned back away from Eddie, and he sucked in a quick breath.
"I had some business to attend to with the alpha." was all that he offered to say, getting up from the ground, and then helping Eddie out.
Eddie took his hand wordlessly, standing up next to him. Terry didn't offer Eddie anymore details, just turned to walk away.
"Where are you going now?" Eddie called after him.
"Home. I got what I needed. See you never, Eddie." he replied, disappearing from sight.
Eddie ran a hand through his hair, glaring at the grass, and headed back towards Alicia. She looked angry, her face contorted in a twisted frown.
"You idiot! The Alpha could have seen this and rejected to see you today! Did you forget you came for his help?" she said, slapping his arm with each word.
Eddie sighed knowing she was halfway right; he hadn't come all the way here for nothing.
If it was true that Eddie had killed Lucas when he had lost his mind in the heat of the moment of first turning, he would take the alpha's head as retribution.
After all, the alpha had ruined his life by turning Eddie into whatever he was now.
It was time that he had a talk with this old dog.
Alicia smoothed out her clothes, and fussed over her hair, patting every strand in place. She took a look a Eddie, and sighed, trying to smooth out his hair, and fix the collar of his shirt. There was no fixing the cuts and bruises he had acquired from fighting Terry, and Eddie's neck was bruising from the chokehold Terry had placed him in.
"You look like a wild dog." she whispered harshly at him, and Eddie rolled his eyes, wondering if she saw the irony in what she said.
Giving up, she walked over to the front of the mansion, ringing the bell. At first, nothing happened, and then the door was opened by a maid who looked to be in her early thirties. She had black braids that went down to her waist, a streak of silver in each of them. She was wringing a rag in between her hands, looking stressed.
"Miss Alicia, thank you for coming on such short notice. The master of the house is in his bedroom resting. The meeting he had with Mr. Terry took alot out of him." the maid explained, closing the door behind them.
They shared a look, Eddie pretending to be in awe as he looked at the expensive paintings, and art that surrounded the living room.
A grand staircase with a spiraling railing was in the middle of the room, and Eddie whistled. This alpha had more stacks of cash than he had seen in his lifetime.
Probably a gringo, he thought to himself, as Alicia lead the way.
Alicia was quiet, which surprised Eddie; he thought she'd try to give him some pointers, or advice when talking to the alpha.
But no, she stayed quiet, looking like she was fighting to stop herself from biting her nails.
"Are you okay?" Eddie asked, glancing at her.
She looked at him, stress on her face, as the continued up the stairs.
"I knew the alpha was sick, but I didn't think it would get to this point where he can't leave his bed for long periods of time." she replied, her hand twitching at her side.
"Are you afraid to lose him?" Eddie asked, staring at the chandelier.
"I have been loyal to this alpha since I was in my twenties. He has been the most generous and kind alpha-and he protects his pack. Well, when they were once a pack." she replied, a faraway look in her eyes.
They had made it to the top, the maid leading them down a long hallway. Eddie stared at some of the photos placed on the walls, surprised to see that most of the photos were parts of Mexico. There were paintings of the damas dancing in long, flowy skirts with so much color, it caught his attention.
Black and white photos of a family that had probably passed went on each wall, and Eddie gazed in wonder at them.
"There was a pack before he started the new one. They were in horrible fight against a rival pack, and some of them were slaughtered or badly injured. The alpha was the only one who was able to make them back down. After that fight, the pack disbanded, and alpha had to create a new one for the next alpha."
Which is you, she had implied without saying, and Eddie glanced at her with calm eyes. "I will hear him out, but I won't agree to anything." he said.
"You are the one he has chosen." she answered simply, stopping at the front of the double doors with a firm look on her face.
The maid turned the handles, opening both doors quietly, as Eddie heard the sounds of a heart monitor, and lungs that rattled with air. Alicia stepped in first, her heart hammering a little too fast, probably from anxiety.
Eddie stepped in behind her, not really knowing what to expect.
The man, or alpha, was very large, in height, looking like he was over six feet, his body stretched out in a large bed. Blankets were piled on him, his face pale. He had unkempt black hair, that was slightly balding at the top of his head. His skin had a strange gray hue, gray eyes dulled. Heavy purple circles were underneath his eyes, and his gaze went to the both of them, passing over Alicia, and landing on Eddie.
A little bit more of life was given to him at the sight of Eddie, and he tried to sit up, shoving some of the blankets to the floor. As his hands were free from under the covers, Eddie noticed the I.V that was attached to the wrist.
Although Eddie had talked a big talk about wanting to cut off the alpha's head in revenge, Eddie could feel guilt form int he lower pits of his stomach.
This man was sick, and slowly dying.
"You've arrived." he rasped, coughing into his arm. His body trembled with each hacking cough, and Alicia darted to the side of his bed, where a desk stood with a cup of water.
He waved her offer away, calming down, a shade of red on his face.
And then his eyes moved to Eddie, a slow smile on his face.
"If it isn't the new alpha." he commented.
Eddie is silent as he stares down at the current dying alpha. He glances at Alicia, who motions for him to start talking. "I don't agree." Eddie replied, and he saw Alicia stiffen next to him. The sickly man stares at Eddie blankly, before roaring in laughter, a laugh so loud, and forceful, it shakes his frame. "You are the perfect choice for the pack." he replied, after he was done for laughing. At that, Eddie took a step forward, a scowl on his face. "You didn't even speak to me about it. You just went ahead and did it! I have a life, you know." Eddie responded, hands balled into fists. "Bah! A life of poverty." the old man said, sitting up, a frown on his face. Eddie darted forward then, grabbing the oldster by the front of his shirt, shaking him a bit. "How can you say that when you have a similar background as me? How can you say that when the first time I shifted, I might have eaten a friend of mine?" The old alpha is wheezing, and we
Alicia doesn't make a peep as they head back to Isan's room. The silence is interrupted by Isan's breathing, and monitors. He looks at both of them with a calmness, like a man who has already accepted his fate. "I understand your resentment towards you, really I do Eddie." Isan starts, but Eddie cuts him off, motioning him to stop talking. "How did you even know about me?" Eddie asks, Isan looking surprised, but smiling up at him. "Your friend David, or how you knew him, Terry was a big help in that. Says you were a good man with a strong head on your shoulders. I wanted to see for myself, so I invited you to my fighting ring. I watched you for months, and yes even at one point stalked you a little. Outside or in the ring, I saw a fighter, and when I saw you with your Abuelita, I knew I found the one that I wanted to take my place." he looked away for a moment, thinking about his next words in silently. "I know you may think my decision was rash, and it was. I ne
Eddie stares blankly at Alicia, his mouth stuffed with food. He looks a sight, fork raised up with food on it as he's readying for another bite. He clearly isn't ready to meet them, but Alicia is looking past that. After all, he is the new alpha that she must respect. Eddie chugs his juice, wiping his mouth with a napkin as he stares at her. "Don't you think it's a little early to meet the pack?" "Not at all. In fact, it's taken too long for you to meet them. You were supposed to take charge before Isan passed so he could show you the ropes." Alicia fumed, tapping her foot against the floor as her annoyance grew. Eddie says naught, just shoveling more food into his mouth, and Alicia reaches out, grabbing him by the ear as she forces him on his feet. Eddie grabs his plate, as Alicia leads him into the living room. All conversation stops as they look from Alicia to Eddie, and Eddie pulls back, his face going a light red. There's two guys, and two girls,
Eddie is wandering down the halls, when he notices Alicia standing in front of the portrait, her shoulders shaking a bit. She must be crying, Eddie thinks, and he really wants to let her grieve in peace, but she turns to him at the same time he steps into the hallway ligh, two extra eyes staring at him wary. Eddie freaks out, a loud growl coming from him as he feels his teeth sharpen. Alicia blinks, startled, as her extra eyes mend back into her skin, looking more like herself with two eyes. "I'm sorry!" she says, holding up her hands as she surrenders. "I didn't mean to scare you." "What are you?" Eddie says instead, taking a step back from her. Alicia sighs, as she stares down at her hands. In a way, Eddie does feel bad for asking like that. But at the same time, what did she expect? She had two extra eyes that were just under her skin. So he waited, as Alicia gathered her thoughts. When she looked back up at him, her face looked more composed and r
Eddie doesn't know why he's still here. Really he should be at home, tending to his Abuelita, his job, hell, his friend. But he is here in front of the mansion, ready to prove to his newly aquired pack that he has what it takes to be the alpha. Maybe the reason why was because he was trying hard not to face reality just yet. The reality that he was a murderer, and he was the reason Lucas was missing. These thoughts wore on him, not so much on him, but for the loss of Lucas. He was only eighteen, he thought to himself, as he raised his fists. David and Brayden stood straight on the other side of him, in the makeshift ring, Addie and Tric staring on as they continued to drink their orange juice, discussing quietly about something. But Eddie couldn't get himself distracted; he had two opponents to take care of. They stood there for what felt like hours, Brayden standing there relaxed, whereas David matched Eddie's stance. And then they took off. They were
Eddie is in his room, taking care of packing his things away. He takes one glance over at the room, making sure that he has everything he needs. None of this stuff is his; it is, and isn't. All the new clothes were gifted by Isan, and Alicia even pulled out some shoes that she had picked out when she went to the mall. They were nice, and Eddie tested them out, running a little, and then hopping in them. Super light, and easy to move in, he noted, pulling the luggage behind him. There was an RV already in the front of the house, and Alicia was watching from the doorway, the others already packing their stuff in there. Eddie would admit that being alpha was strange; he had already made his first command, and no one was challenging him over it, or trying to talk him out of it. They simply did what they were told, and Eddie honestly had mixed feelings about this. On one hand, it was nice that his choices and say were final, and there wasn't anything really left t
The moment the tires of the RV crossed into town, Eddie felt something prickle under his skin. Faint alarm bells went off in his head, and they got stronger as they made way to their new home. Beside hime, Addie had stopped talking, noticing the way he had stiffened. "Is something the matter?" she asked, which brought Brayden's attention. David, who had traded places with Brayden driving the RV, looked up as well. Only Tric said nothing, as she turned on her side, and slept, the blankets up to her ears. "It's probably nothing." Eddie tried to assure, but there was something there. Something he couldn't pinpoint, and if he was in his wolf form, his hairs would be standing on end. David hit the brakes then, causing everyone to lurch forward, and Tric fell off the bed, swearing as she landed on her back. "What the fuck David?" Tric yelled, rubbing the back of her head, as she got up. "We have a problem." David said in a tight voice, and Eddie got up then,
The swelling has gone down in Eddie's jaw, and they have settled into their new home in the countryside. Eddie will go over to his Abuelita's in the morning, but for now, he mopes about the cheap shot that Joseph took. Him, and his pack disappeared once they saw that Eddie was on the ground. And though the hit hurt, Eddie was more stunned at seeing Lucas alive. Stunned and relieved. After talking it over with his pack, Eddie concluded that the blood found on his clothes was in fact the blood of a deer. "Werewolves don't usually eat humans. I mean if you shift too close to them the first time, damage will be caused but to eat them? Not likely." Tric had said, as she bounded down the stairs, David in front. Eddie stared after her, not noticing the couch dip as Addie sat next to him. "Are you okay Eddie?" Addie asked, and Eddie dropped the ice pack he was using for the swelling on his face. "Don't really know how to feel. I mean, Lucas is alive but he's w
