I don't know if I should even trust Olivia after what happened. But she was with me anyways. I knew I have to understand the level of shit I was in and if Olivia had been a player before I was, then I have to keep her close.

I looked at her each time I drove, I don't know if it was smart taking her home or just going to a hotel but I think we were out of the woods for now.

The hum of the engine was the only sound filling the space between us, yet the silence felt louder than any explosion. Olivia leaned her head against the window, eyes blank, but I knew her mind was spinning just like mine.

The system's message had shifted everything. "New rank players have the final decision to opt out of gamers in the next rounds." It echoed again in my head like a ticking bomb hidden beneath our words.

I knew who I would like to see exit the game. I could nominate Derek, Eliot and possibly Selena. They are my sworn enemies and for some weird reason I wasn't at peace knowing they were in the ga

Surprise. Fear. Relive. All rushed at me at once. The fear of not having to look over my shoulders anymore. I know I have just stirred the hornets, but I was a little relieved to see that I just put an end to one of my problems. [Students gasp.] I could see the look on Derek's face. A look that later changed to anger and desperation to challenge me and have his own revenge. But for now, I didn't care. The system gave me the power to make a choice, and I did. He should be happy that he wasn't picked. Chosen. The hallway went quiet immediately after Eliot dropped dead. Most of them must have thought it was a joke. Maybe he fell from pretending, or maybe he was having a seizure. I knew what I had done. I didn't need to wait. I slowly dipped my phone into my pocket and walked away with a satisfactory smile on my face. One more gamer down. Clicking on a name, does it make me a killer? I asked myself as I walked with a lot of gazes falling on me. I wasn't sure if they were now a

Power is power. I was having the power or should I say the system was giving me the momentary power to decide their fate. I was going to do worse for both of them. Eliot and Derek None of them deserve my sympathy and if the system has dim it fit for one of them to die then who am I to say no. I still didn't believe a button could kill them though but it was really going to be fun watching them fight for their lives. The only thing that mattered was winning the goddamn game. I was not going to end my life like Thomas. I needed to find an anchor for it. The courtyard was no longer quiet. Fight! Fight!! Fight!!! The students all shouted frantically not understanding what was actually going on. Maybe the do or maybe not, I didn't care. Most of them were pretenders anyway and it was only a matter of time before the system brought them out in the open. Dust spiraled in lazy eddies around them, kicked up by Derek’s frantic shuffle and Eliot’s calculated movements. The crowd tha

I wanted to run but there was no running from them. Sometimes, it was good to face your fears. I didn't fret, I waited till they got closer. " Derek wants to see you." One of his cronies looked at me. " Eliot would like to see you." One of Eliot's cronies said too. " Oh really? I let out a small smile. " So you all suddenly wanna be my friend and I can't care to wonder why? Care to tell me why your bosses want to see me?" I said with a giggle. The system has given me the upper hand and I can't care but feel very important. " Why don't you go back to them and let them know that they should crawl over here to see me." I could see the look on their faces but I don't give a damn. " If Eliot wants to see me then he can come himself. " I said staring at his cronies. " And likewise your boss too. If Derek wants to see me then he can come himself. I still don't get why they both are sending the fries to come over to see me. I hold the key to their lives. Shouldn't they crawl whe

If you ask me, this was a game where you need to be smart and also know your enemies. Olivia got closer to me trying to play the loving part and even agreed to take Derek and Selena down. I still believed she did it for the money when she was actually rich and could take care of her bills. I looked at her as she walked past me. "So why did you agree to date me? I mean, fake the relationship with me." The word slipped out of my mouth as I looked at her. "You wanted revenge. I also wanted revenge against Derek." Olivia said without looking at me. "What did he do to you?" "Not now, Jason. Who are you nominating?" She asked, staring at me. I know I need to be careful. "Isn't it obvious? The system brought out Derek and also Eliot. I need to let one of them go." "So who is it going to be?" Olivia asked again."Why are you so curious about who has to go? They both are a thorn in my flesh. It would be a relief to know one of them was gone." "Then I think we both need to decide who it

"Run, Olivia. Run!" I shouted as I tried to come between her and the red dot. Olivia took to her heels while I waited in anticipation. My eyes slowly fixed on the door that was supposed to open. The door was pushed open, and a janitor walked in with a headset on his ears. It was blinking the red dot. My mind was at ease when I saw it. "What are you doing here?! Aren't you supposed to be on your way home?" the janitor said, looking at me. I gulp down the thick saliva at the back of my throat. My chest heaving up and down. "I came to get something down here." I said, picking up one of Olivia's shoes, The janitor looked at me and laughed. "Is that your girl's?" I nodded without many words, but then I remembered I had left Olivia all by herself. If anything was going to happen to her, I needed to be there. I bolted out of the room, running towards the garage. I knew that was the very first place she was going to go. My heart beat fast as the echoes of my footsteps could be heard.
