The system chuckled slightly.

“Don't you know the reason by now? He has sacrificed a lot for his juniors, in his bid to set a good example, and return the sect to the right track. And they see them all, he not just commands respect, he demands it. The incident today should have shown you the amount of influence he has in the sect. The sect elders wanted to take the treasures and give them scrap benefits and contribution points. Who does contribution points help in real life circumstances? What a joke! The things they got are way more practical, more expensive and important than whatever they would have been given.”

Alvin nodded, analyzing the incidents that happened earlier in the evening. The elders they reported to wanted to cheat them out of their rightful possession. But Murong Wuque put his feet down, insisting on taking seventy percent and giving the sect thirty percent. He even cited the severe injuries on Qin Li's body, using it to explain how perilous the journey was. The

Murong Wuque chuckled and took a sip of water. “Take a guess. It's probably the one who appears the most harmless in the room.” “The most harmless?” Alvin looked at Oliver, then Leah, Martha and Elena. They all looked spineless and harmless, but none of them should have a reason to hurt him. Murong Wuque walked to Shi Meng Ying who had remained silent all along, watching with careful detachment and calm, as if none of the chaos had anything to do with her. “You're such a snake. How can you have such an innocent face, yet be capable of that level of wickedness? Indeed, looks are the most deceptive and unreliable thing in the world.” Everyone was immediately stunned. Alvin was the most surprised of all. “Wuque, could you be mistaken? She's in a wheelchair, being pushed around due to the severe injuries she incurred during the invasion. It's not possible that the culprit is her. The idea that she might be working with the vampires is purely ridiculous, they almost killed her.

  • Everyone is a suspect.

Alvin rushed to her and helped her to a sofa. “Martha, calm down. Be mindful of your age and health. Don't get unnecessarily scared. I won't let him go overboard with you.” She shook her head, overcome with agony. She kept hitting her chest repeatedly, finding it hard to breathe. Alvin wanted to caution Murong Wuque to tone down his aura, but he knew that the situation called for brutal force. Otherwise, they wouldn't get any result and the culprit would get even bolder if they escaped unscathed this time. He turned to Murong Wuque. “You can check the others, but let Martha off for now.” Qin Li cut in, looking anxious. “That's right, First brother. She's already an old woman, and her health isn't all that great. Don't scare her. You can handle the rest however you want, but her age is already advanced, too much shock might cause unnecessary problems.” Murong Wuque gave him a chilling glare, from head to toe. “Even old people are veteran assassins. I don't expect that lev

  • Totally unexpected.

Alvin’s eyes widened to saucer shapes. “Ah? Wuque, wait a minute…” He quickly grabbed Murong Wuque's arm, making the latter look down at him with a frown, as if genuinely confused on the reason Alvin was stopping him from personally taking action. “I will handle it myself for now. If I'm unable to find the person in ten minutes, you can take over.” Of course, Alvin had no plan of letting Murong Wuque step in. With his high handed methods, there would be major casualties and the culprit won't be able to keep their life afterwards. However, the others who were tortured while searching for the culprit wouldn't have anywhere to cry afterwards. Sure, Murong Wuque would instantly heal them with his healing energy once the process was over. However, the pain in between ain't a joke. He would rather keep him far away from them. Murong Wuque was the type people call heartless, he might look out for people and help them, because it was his responsibility to keep up the light due to h

Murong Wuque let go of them and they all dropped to the floor, tumbling on top of each other. Shi Yue's eyes went wide with fear and her mouth dropped open. Oliver who had been silent all along let out an ear piercing shriek and jumped out of his wheel chair. He wobbled to where they fell and collapsed beside his sister. He pushed Leah who fell on top of Elena away and tried to move his sister, crying heavily. Alvin clutched Murong Wuque by the lapels, his eyes spitting fire. “If anything happens to them, I will never forgive you or let you off. We will die together if I have to.” He licked his lips and took in a ragged breath, trying to control himself. His eyes were a bit red and he rushed to the collapsed people. Alvin checked Elena’s body. She merely lost consciousness due to suffocation. She was still alive. He immediately lay her on her back. Qin Li joined him, laying the girls on their backs, trying to revive them. Sam and Joe were still conscious, they merely cra

“What happened?” Alvin immediately stood up and pushed his chair back, rushing to know what was wrong. Murong Wuque didn't answer him, rather he made a gesture with his finger. At once, all the staff was rounded up by an invisible string of energy. Joe and Sam who were eating in the kitchen were the most startled. One moment, they were enjoying burgers and toast, the next they found themselves hanging mid air like criminals. Martha gasped in shock and the cup of hot water she was holding slipped. But the water was frozen mid air, stopping it from splashing on the old woman. An invisible hand pushed her back, as if saying stay away from this mess. The people hanging mid air began to clutch at their throats and struggle to breathe, from Amanda, Leah and Tiffany, down to Elena and the men, they were all hanging mid air, with the string of energy around their neck. “Wuque, stop. You're going to kill them. You can't handle them like your staff back home, these ones are mortals a

  • Surprise

Just as Alvin stood up, he felt a chill come from the direction of the stairs. The person capable of causing a change in temperature even before they appeared was not two in villa number seven. There standing on the mighty spiral staircase some distance away was Murong Wuque. He was looking as ravishing as usual. Droplets of water could be found on his face, but his hair was dry, probably done using his wind magic. He was dressed in sky blue silk robe and pajama pants, adorning his beautiful feet were a pair of expensive crocs. His long silver hair fell elegantly on his shoulders, held away from his face by a set of milky jade hair clasps and pins. He looked like an ancient prince from heaven. No, he was one. Everyone held their breaths as he slowly descended from the stairs. His ethereal beauty made it seem as if everywhere brightened up the moment he appeared. Or perhaps, it was his aura. He stopped before Alvin and took his place at the head of the table. Surprisingly, eve
