Chapter. 4

Tanya stared at her husband in disbelief at the comment he had made.

Her expressions were firstly that of surprise, much everyone else present in the room but seeing her husbands face and his seemingly uncaring attitude she became furious.

Slap!

She moved over to him and slapped him before everyone.

Mason did not uttered a word still but held the part of his cheek his wife had slapped since it stung.

Everyone else in the room justified the slap as they all muttered something demeaning against him for his inappropriate remark.

Tanya's grandma was more pleased with the slap because if it wasnt for her present bedridden situation she would have given it to him herself.

She made attempts to even get up and support the slap with her own, so it would hurt him even more. But people nearby stopped her.

"is this really necessary Mason?"

Tanya asked her husband furiously.

"...."

Mason said nothing as he continued to look at her in the face

"of all people I never expected such an attitude from you. I even told you not to say anything why we are here "

Tanya continued knowing there was nothing Mason could say for himself.

"he wants me dead, isn't it clear now " Tanya's grandma voiced out at the top of her voice from her bed as she pointed accusing fingers at Mason.

"who knows if he was the one that even poisoned her? " someone in the room said and some people nodded and murmured in agreement.

"I really don't know what to say to you anymore Mason , I.... Really..... " Tanya tried to complete her statement but frustration, sadness, anger, regret and other emotions whirled up inside her and tears dropped from her eyes.

She was frustrated at Mason, sad that he would continue to be the bad egg in the family, angry because of all people it was her husband and she now regretted getting married to him.

".... Just leave Mason , get out!" she yelled as she tried to hold back her tears.

Mason just stared at her unable to say anything. It really wasn't his intentions to continue to make her feel this way, he loved her, she was his wife.

He did not really care about what everyone else present in the room said. It wasn't the first time and it certainly won't be the last.

Only if he could make them understand just how it was for him. It is difficult for a medical personel to see things like this and not day anything.

Mason wanted to reach out to his wife and explain himself and make her understand but before he could do so, Derick came and stood beside her with an angry face.

"did you know hear her, get out Mason . You've done enough."

Derick said, stepping in like a Hero. He held Tanya hoping to comfort her.

It really irked Mason since it was clearly obvious that Derick just wanted to take his place and it was working.

Everyone in the room sided with Derick, adamant that Mason leave the room, expressing their displeasure with glares.

Mason sighed, kept the bag of fruit on the ground and began walking away .

As he walked out, his eyes met that of the doctor and they both shared a look.

For Mason , it was the look of 'I really thought you could do better than this doctor.'

Whereas for the doctor it was the kind of look at said 'who are you to think you can ever best me in my field, you know nothing child.'

Tanya returned to her grandmother as she wiped her eyes and Derick with her.

"how are you, MA?"

"I fine Tanya, don't listen to that fiend you call a husband. I'm totally fine "

Tanya's grandma replied with a smile as she checked her self to prove that she was fine.

"I'm glad. "

Tanya said, disbelieving her husband but have the feeling of worry in her.

"don't tell me you took what he said to heart dear? You really should divorce that man Tanya, he's causing you so much pain as it is " grand MA said to Tanya

"not this again ma...." Tanya replied with an uninterested look.

"don't give me that look. I've told you, you have to take care of yourself and find someone to take care of you. "

Tanyas grandma said as she winked at Derick, clearing hinting that he was her choice for Tanya.

Derick chuckled and warmly squeezed Tanya's shoulder and her grandma approved.

But Tanya decided to not say anything regarding the topic anymore, choosing to change it.

"here, you need to eat more " Tanya offered her grand ma more fruits to eat.

"I lost my appetite. "

The presumably ill woman said immediately and Tanya sighed.

"you really do need to eat, ma'am"

The doctor interjected calmly as he offered his words drawing thier attention.

"there you have it, the doctor have spoken, now eat. " Tanya said as she offered the apples to the woman for her to eat.

"I'm fine doctor, you already worked your magic and I feel like I'm in my twenties again.." the woman smiled and the all laughed at what she said..

Derick approached the doctor and shook his hands with a smile.

"you are the best doctor ever. "

"I know " doctor Raymond said in a complacent manner.

"I was expecting you to say something after what Mason said, why didn't you?" Derick asked the doctor.

He was expecting him to have challenged or at least debunked the young man when he had spoken, but he didn't.

The doctor looked at him for a minute with an irritated look for he calmed himself and replied.

"there was obviously nothing to prove to an insignificant fellow who knows nothing about medicine. I have been in this profession my whole life ,with numerous experience around my belt. I know my work and its impeccable. "

"I see " Derick replied

"He wanted attention and I will not give him that "

The doctor said again.

Derick shook his hands again excitedly knowing that the doctor took so much pride in his work, and he was glad he had brought him over to treat Tanya's grandma.

Cough cough!

Tanya's grandma coughed as she ate the apples and she pushed the apple away

"careful Tanya, don't choke me with your God forsaken apples, jeez."

Tanya's mother cleared her throat as she drank water for her food to digest properly..

"it's OK ma, maybe you have had enough" Tanya laughed happily as she rubbed her grandmas back

"if nothing else, I'll take my leave now " the doctor said politely as he started preparing to leave.

"certainly doctor " Derick nodded.

Cough! Cough!!

Cough cough!!

Tanya's grand ma continued to cough frantically and seconds later she began gasping for breath

"ma what's wrong? " Tanya asked with worry in voice.

Cough cough!

She coughed out blood and Tanya screamed for help.

"someone help, she's dying. "
