He thanked James for his help so far as they both went their separate ways.He checked his phone and he noticed he still had two hours left before the class got started. His hands got hold of something inside his pocket. He remembers it was the golden customized debit card he was given. He was eager to test it.

On his way,he noticed a nearby bank along the road.He entered the banking hall of the bank.He went straight to the teller counter.

The teller lady,a woman in heavy makeup and a professional suit, saw Richard come in and said lazily, “How can I help you?”

She sounded cold. From her look on Richard, she felt he was somebody that was not worth her attention.

Richard was wearing a faded shirt and a black rough trouser, looking like a pauper. The woman acted uninterested, thinking it was just an insignificant customer.

Nevertheless,Richard did not mind her bad service and attitude. “I would want to perform a withdrawal,” he said sternly.

“Withdrawal?Don't you see the ATM over there?” The teller lady sounded not too pleased.Just meet someone on the queue to assist you if you don't know how to use it.I'm busy.”

She was so free that she could take a nap there if she wanted. Her attitude pissed Richard off,so he called out, “I demand to see the manager.”

Richard raised his voice. “Is this how your bank does things?Don't you know that customer is always right?I can't believe it!”

Hearing the noise in the banking hall, the branch manager hurried out. “What's going on?”

Seeing the branch manager and thinking she had reinforcement, the teller lady pointed at Richard. “Mr Jones, this youngman is here to cause trouble”

Mr Jones was alarmed, looking at Richard disdainfully. “What are you doing here?”

Richard smiled. “I would like to perform a withdrawal.”

Mr Jones frowned. “There are ATMs for withdrawing cash. Why come to the counter?”The manager and the teller lady were just the same, they sounded unappeased.

He did not allow what the manager said to get to him. “What if I would like to withdraw four million dollars?”

Four million dollars? The teller lady stared at Richard and took a closer look at him. From his outfit one could see that he was poor and could not afford an amount. “A classless pauper like you wants to withdraw four million dollars?

“This must be a hilarious joke.Do you mean four hundred dollars?Four million dollars is way above you.”

Mr Jones also did not believe Richard could be able to withdraw $4 million because he looked like a loser.

However he didn't want to completely write him off.He cocked an eyebrow and asked, “Do you really want to withdraw four million dollars?”.The teenager might look like a loser but sometimes it's hard to understand the way the rich live. That was the reason why he asked again.

Richard sneered. “Why else will I be here If not for withdrawing money? Or,do you expect me to play games here?

“I will have to inform my superiors for such a large amount of money"Mr Jones said differently, “Why don't you stay in the lounge and wait for a while?”

Richard noded, “No problem”.

The teller lady sneered. “Mr Jones don't tell me that you really think he has $4 million to withdraw, do you?”

“Shut up and knock off” Mr Jones was not too happy with her.He could tell from his experience that Richard was not joking.Richard was really going to withdraw 4 million dollars. He wouldn't have come all the way here to asked to withdraw 4 million at one go if he doesn't want too.He was eager to get into the good book of a rich kid like Richard.

The teller lady shut up immediately when Mr Jones scolded her.But she still had a disdainful look on her face. She did not believe that Richard had so much money to withdraw.

But 30 minutes later, when she saw Richard carrying a sack of cash out of the VIP Lodge with Mr Jones following behind him respectfully, she was stunned her eyes were wide open.Did this loser really withdraw $4 million?

“Does he really have 4 million dollars,Mr Jones? The teller lady had not given up and asked the branch manager.

Do you want him to show it to you Mr Jones noted looking not too happy.Fortunately he was more observant and did not allow the way Richard looks to write him off.He could have lost such an important customer.

She knew the manager wouldn't be telling a lie so she stood surprised and opened her mouth.

“I apologize to you if my staff has said something that offends you Mr Richard” Mr Jones says it respectfully.

It will be clear to anyone that a person who could withdraw 4 million dollars in cash was a VIP customer.Mr Jones does not want to lose this VIP customer to other banks.

Richard tucked the sack of cash into the bag that Mr Jones had issued him and then left.

The midday bell rang, signaling the start of lunch, and the school cafeteria quickly filled with the usual clatter of trays, voices, and the mingling scents of food. The buzz of student chatter filled the air, a mix of casual conversation, gossip, and the occasional burst of laughter. Richard, Christabel, Evelyn, Charles, and Oliver made their way to a corner table, the five of them settling into their usual routine. Despite the comfortable familiarity of his friends, Richard’s mind was far from settled. The events of the previous day—the strange encounter with the timid student and the mysterious men—were still gnawing at him. As he sat down and absentmindedly picked at his food, his gaze wandered across the cafeteria. It was then that he saw him again. The boy.He was sitting alone at a table near the far corner, his head lowered slightly as he ate, the kind of posture that seemed to say, “Please don’t notice me.” His clothes were plain, and his demeanor was that of someone who had

He’d made progress, but the journey was far from over.It was getting late, and Richard had arranged to meet with Christabel, Evelyn, Charles, and Oliver for a study session at his house. The exams were only a few days away, and though Richard had been distracted by everything happening in his life, he knew he had to catch up on his studies. The weight of his responsibilities hung heavily on him—both his academic life and the power that threatened to consume him.His phone buzzed in his pocket, pulling him out of his thoughts. It was Charles.“Hey, Richard! We’re at your place, ready to go. Where are you at?”Richard glanced at his watch. It wasn’t much later than he expected,

The walk from the school to Reed’s estate felt longer than usual. The fading light of the afternoon stretched long shadows across the ground, the soft whispers of wind rustling through the trees. Richard’s thoughts were clouded, his mind a swirl of conflicting emotions. He had been back in the world of school for only a short time, but already he was reminded of the power within him, the energy that throbbed beneath his skin, always there, always waiting to take control. He couldn’t ignore it any longer. He had to face it.The closer he got to Reed’s house, the heavier his steps became. He knew the training today would be harder than anything he had faced before. Reed had been waiting for this moment, knowing that Richard’s growing power was only one part of his journey—it was control, mastery over that power, that would define Richard’s future. As Richard pushed open the gate to Reed’s property, he was met with the usual sight of the sprawling estate—a place that had always felt both

  • Chapter Three Hundred and Eighty-Five

The afternoon sun hung low in the sky as Richard made his way back to the school gates, the noise of students around him fading into the background. His mind was preoccupied with his training, the exams, and the strange, foreign power that still hummed beneath his skin. It was almost overwhelming at times—the constant pressure, the questions he couldn’t answer, and the lingering fear that he was on the edge of something far darker than he realized. Yet as he walked, trying to shake the weight of his thoughts, a disturbance in the air caught his attention. There was a crowd gathered near the edge of the school courtyard, a group of students standing in a circle, their voices rising in harsh, mocking tones. Richard’s gaze sharpened, and he instinctively slowed his steps, the sense of familiarity creeping over him. The laughter, the taunts—he had heard it all before. He had once been the target of similar ridicule. The flashbacks came quickly: the bullying, the feeling of helplessness, t

Richard made his way down the hallway toward Miss Lilian’s office, each step echoing in the quiet of the school. His thoughts raced. Why had she asked to speak with him? There was no way it was about the rumors; Miss Lilian was far too professional for that. He had no idea what she wanted to discuss, but he hoped it wasn’t anything too complicated or troublesome. He reached the door of her office and paused, taking a deep breath. The door was slightly ajar, and he could hear the soft rustling of papers inside. He knocked lightly before pushing it open, stepping inside.Miss Lilian looked up from her desk, her eyes sharp as ever. She was seated behind her desk, her usual calm and composed demeanor intact. When her gaze met Richard’s, her expression softened, just for a moment.“Richard,” she said, her voice warm but professional. “Please, come in. Take a seat.”Richard nodded, stepping inside and closing the door behind him. He sat down across from her, feeling the weight of her gaze o

As students filed out of the classroom, chattering and laughing, the murmur of gossip began to rise. Richard could hear snippets of whispered conversation behind him as he gathered his things and prepared to leave.“Did you see that? Miss Lilian called Richard to stay behind,” one voice whispered.“Do you think they’re... you know... together?” another voice speculated, low but not low enough to avoid Richard’s ears.Richard sighed inwardly, his shoulders tensing. The last thing he needed right now was to be the subject of more gossip. His life was already complicated enough, what with his powers, his training with Reed, the looming exams, and the looming threat of the Knight Consortium. And now, of course, his sudden return to school had become the latest topic of speculation.Miss Lilian, of all people, had always been a figure of auth
