Chapter 22

Kriemhild who had been knocked out by Lucas stirred a bit before her eyes slowly opened. The sight which greeted her caused her eyes to widen in shock.

In front of her, the group of soldiers she had came with to do a sneak attack are now lying dead on the ground without any sort of movement as the ground is covered in blood.

Lucas is standing in the middle of it without any blood on his person which was more amazing to the swordswoman. But then she remembered why she was unconscious as she looked at him.

"Why did you just knock me out when you could've killed me?" Kriemhild asked him as she got up.

Lucas who was looking at her just sheathed his blade as he made the dome disappear.

"I was impressed by your skills with the sword. I must say that I was surprised to see someone with your skill trying to do a sneak attack." Lucas said to her.

"It's not like we have a choice. Our Prince's orders are absolute." Kriemhild said to him.

"I see. Well, I don't want to waste more time so I'll tell you the reason as to why I spared your life." Lucas said to her.

Kriemhild looked at him curiously as she wanted to know that as well.

"Simply put, I am impressed by the prowess you have shown in the way of the sword so I've decided to take you in as my subordinate." Lucas said with a smile.

"Huh? Your subordinate?" Kriemhild said shocked.

"Yes, it's quite hard to find strong fighters like you in my kingdom." Lucas said to her.

"I'm your enemy so why?" Kriemhild asked confused at his behaviour.

"You didn't want to do a sneak attack of this sort and would rather like to fight fair and square. The only reason you even attacked was because of the order's of your prince. That's why I wanted to make you my subordinate." Lucas said to her.

"Wait. Did you hear our conversation even though you were far away?" Kriemhild asked stupefied.

"I can use magic remember, it wasn't that hard." Lucas said to her.

Kriemhild thought about it and agreed with him that an accomplished magician would be able to do it. But then she had another thought as she looked at him.

"And what would happen if I refuse and stay loyal to my kingdom?" Kriemhild asked him.

Then next moment she felt his blade's tip near her throat which caused her body to seize up as she looked at him. He has a serious look on his face as he pointed the blade at her.

"Then I will kill you right here and now." Lucas said to her seriously.

Kriemhild gulped as she looked at him. She knew that he isn't kidding as his eyes are completely serious and he will have no problem killing her as well.

"Fine. I'll become your subordinate." Kriemhild said to him.

Hearing that Lucas smiled and retracted his blade before sheathing it.

"Good. Then I have some rules for you that you have to follow." Lucas said to her.

"As you wish." Kriemhild said to him.

After that they returned to the camp. Lucas had already told her not to speak about him killing the enemy soldiers and to also hide the fact that she is from the enemy as she will no doubt be met with scorn from the soldiers.

He then introduced Kriemhild to the commander and the princess as a warrior whom he had been training for sometime. They believed him and let her stay in the camp and also gave her a tent to live him. After that Lucas stayed at the commander's tent to plan out their next moves.

"So what do you think we should do now?" Lucas asked them.

"The magic that the enemy mage is using can't last forever. I had proposed we strike right then with a powerful magic from our own at the enemy camp." Olivia said to them.

"Since the mage has been casting for sometime he will be quite exhausted. But the enemy could also be preparing for a counterattack on their own." Lucas said to her.

"They will most likely be wary of you and have most of their strongest fight against you." Andvaranaut said seriously.

"If those are strong soldiers then I will have trouble against them. Even if I were to wear this armor of mine I'm not willing to take that risk." Lucas said to them.

"But we do need to make backup plans if they were to reveal a secret weapon of theirs." Andvaranaut said as he placed his hand on his chin.

"What do you think they will have? We do not have much information regarding their military." Lucas said to them.

"Well, there is one thing, a rumour more than anyone but it could be important." A strategist said catching the attention of the people in the room.

"And what is this rumor?" Olivia asked him.

The strategist has a grave look on his face which alarmed the people in the room. Lucas now sported a serious look on his face as he looked at the strategist as he waited for him to speak.

And he did speak, but the words that came out of his mouth caused the people in the tent to widen their eyes at it. Lucas narrowed his eyes as he looked down to the ground.

'It looks like I'll have to bring him out.' Lucas thought to himself with a serious look.

After that they concluded the meeting as he returned to his tent. Inside his tent he found Alpha standing inside as he smiled at the boy.

"So, I guess Kriemhild is behaving?" Lucas asked him.

"Yes my lord. She has been keeping a good behaviour and hasn't tried anything." Alpha said to him.

"Good, keep your eyes on her and if she were to do anything shady then come and inform me about it." Lucas said to him.

"Yes my lord." Alpha said as he went away from the tent.

Lucas sighed to himself before he took a glass of water and drank it before he got out and looked at the stars in the sky.

While this was going on at the enemy camp the Prince Eric was near two large cages which were covered as there is a ton of soldiers who are surrounding the cages. Eric went to the edge of one of the cages and a gust of wind came out of it as he covered his face before smirking.

"I will show those impertinent Norwegian bastards what it means to defy me and the royal family." Eric said with a smirk.

Unknown to him the mysterious man was sitting in the clouds as he looked at the cages in interest as a smile appeared on his face.
