Chapter 23

"Are you ready Lucas?" Olivia asked Lucas as she was ready with her spear as he walked in her direction.

It has been a day since the meeting as the magic shows signs of starting to fade away so the army has got ready. Their own court mage had come as well as he also got ready to send a powerful spell of his own at the enemy.

"I am. I just hope that the rumours are just rumours." Lucas said to her to which he nodded.

Lucas then moved to his part of the army where Kriemhild and Aslaug were waiting. He gave them a short greeting before he drew his sword and got ready as well.

The great magic faded away in a few moments as the court mage was ready with his magic. He sent the energy towards the enemy which took the form of a large fire dragon. The enemy soldiers saw this as they became scared and tried to run only for the magic to hit them and cause a great explosion as it covered a large part of the enemy camp in fire as many of their soldiers perished.

"Attack!" Olivia shouted as she pointed her spear forward.

The soldiers roared in acknowledgement before they started to advance towards the enemy. Lucas is also running while being closely followed by Aslaug and Kriemhild who is a bit behind the demigoddess.

'She is almost as strong as him.' Kriemhild thought to herself as she saw the running.

The archers shot their arrows at the enemy camp but a magic barrier appeared which blocked it courtesy of the court mage of Sweden. He also put out the fire so the rest of Sweden's army were able to see the enemy.

Among the army and group of soldiers looked at Lucas and shared a glance with each other before running towards him. Lucas who saw the group of soldiers running towards him understood that they might be after him so he smirked.

"It looks like they are coming for me. Don't interfere until I think I'm in danger." Lucas said to the two girls.

"Fine by me." Aslaug said to him.

"Okay." Kriemhild said to him.

He nodded to them before he shot forward towards the enemy surprising Kriemhild at his physical prowess. He meanwhile made his way to the group of soldiers as they got ready to fight as well.

The soldier at the front of the group wielded a large greatsword which he swung down on Lucas when he reached them. Lucas dodge the attack and swung his blade at the soldier but it was blocked by another one as a gust of wind was generated from it.

Lucas looked at the soldier before jumping high as a halberd hit the place where he was standing. While he was in the air he saw a soldier with the bow aiming at him as he shot at him. Lucas however surprised the soldier by not only dodging the arrow he caught it as well before throwing it back to the Archer.

The Archer jumped out of the way as the arrow dug into the ground from the force. Lucas then used the fall as a means to attack as the greatsword wielding soldier blocked him and pushed him back.

This gave Lucas the time to know how many his opponents are. A greatsword wielder, sword wielder, a halberd, an archer and a mage it seems as said mage had just sent a spell at him in the form of a ball of lightning.

Lucas bend backwards and avoided the magic before doing a summersault to dodge the attack of the swordsman before sending a kick which sent the man skidding back a great deal. He was a bit exhausted from blocking Lucas's last attack which caused him to pant a bit.

The halberd and greatsword users tried to do a pincer attack from both sides which caused Lucas to jump up to dodge them before he landed a bit forward and ran towards the Archer and mage.

The mentioned two seeing him running towards them attacked him but he dodged them before he closed the distance between them and in a swift motion sliced off the archers arn causing him to scream in pain. Then he attacked the mage as he chopped his head off before he could complete his spell.

Lucas then blocked a strike from the back by putting his sword behind him courtesy of the swordsman as he grit his teeth in frustration. He pushed the swordsman back before punching the neck of the Archer killing him from the attack.

He the redirected a blow from the greatsword and grabbed the shaft of the halberd as he smirked. Then in a swift motion he broke the shaft of the halberd in the dumbfounded eyes of its wielder. He grabbed the man using his left hand and used him as a shield to block the swordsman's attack as the sword hit the man drawing blood.

The halberd wielder screamed in pain as he felt the sword while the swordsman's eyes widened in disbelief and horror. The greatsword user tried to attack him only for Lucas to put the soldier in his hands in its path as the weapon sliced into the soldier killing him.

Using that brief moment of shock Lucas stabbed the swordsman in the neck using his sword killing him before he let go and jumped on the shoulders of the greatsword wielder and grabbed his head with both his hands.

"May the Valkyrie's take you to Valhalla." Lucas said as she snapped his neck.

The soldier's body stumbled a bit before falling down as Lucas stood up without a problem. He retrieved his sword and looked at the other soldiers in the area who were hesitantly looking at him with nervous looks as the two armies were fighting each other.

"Let's start this dance." Lucas said as he twirled his sword before shooting forward towards the soldiers.

His sword impaled into the chest of a soldier as blood flew and the last thing the soldier saw is Lucas's face which has a wide grin.
