Chapter 24

"Come on! Don't run away!" Aslaug shouted as she killed a soldier.

She has been fighting alongside Kriemhild since the fight began as they were killing soldiers. Kriemhild however has a few cute on her armors while Aslaug only has a few dents on hers.

Not far from the two Olivia and Andvaranaut were also attacking alongside their soldiers as their skills served them well in defeating a number of opponents. The two of them were currently being surrounded by the enemy soldiers as they stood beside eachother.

"The battle is currently in our favour. But I think that Eric will do something to change that." Olivia said as she stood back to back with Andvaranaut.

"I agree princess, our soldiers will have to stay vigilant if we want to win this war." Andvaranaut said to her as he scanned the enemies.

"Then we must defeat the swiftly." Olivia said as her spear crackled with lightning as she spun it over her head and dashed towards the enemy.

She impaled a soldier and dodged another's strike before kicking them away and retrieving her spear before she started attacking again. She then had to jump from a fireball courtesy of a mage before she threw a spear she retrieved from the ground which impaled said mage as he died.

She quickly looked around her and saw the soldiers and jumped high and summersaulted to attack more soldiers and get closer to her own army. Andvaranaut was doing the same as he killed a good amount of soldiers and regrouped with his army with Olivia joining afterwards.

The archers of their army at seeing the two back with them sent a lot of arrows at the enemy soldiers which hit a good amount of them as Olivia smiled at the successful attack.

"Your majesty!" A soldier said as he ran to the two catching their attention.

"What is it?" Olivia asked as she looked at him while the soldiers covered her and Andvaranaut.

"The court mage has said that the enemy mages are about to send a wave of magic at us. He is about to erect a barrier and wants our soldiers to come back immediately." The soldier said to her as he bowed.

Olivia's eyes widened at his words as she looked at Andvaranaut who is also looking at her. He nodded at her as she narrowed her eyes before she turned to her soldiers.

"All troops retreat!" Olivia shouted to her army.

The soldiers who were fighting heard her as they were confused. Some of those who were fighting couldn't move due to their currently fighting the enemy while those at the back quickly retreated.

Aslaug and Kriemhild who has also heard her looked at each other before they looked at Lucas who is killing a group of soldiers. He locked eyes with them before he killed a soldier, snatched his polearm and swung it around him to create distance between him and the soldiers.

He then jumped and threw the polearm to the ground which stabbed into it before used it as a platform and jumped towards the two girls. He landed as he looked at the two.

"Why did the princess tell us to retreat?" Lucas asked them.

"We do not know. But I think it would be wise to heed her words." Kriemhild said to him.

"You are correct. Let's do as she says." Lucas said to them.

Aslaug begrudgingly accepted his words as she ran backwards with the two. Halfway through they saw a magical barrier being formed like a wall at their base which caused their eyes to widen. Lucas grabbed the hands of the two girls and dashed forward as the two were surprised at his action.

Lucas looked behind him and then he saw a volley of fireballs being sent towards their army as the two girls also saw the attack. Lucas looked ahead and saw that the barrier is about to close in a few seconds so he immediately used his strength and threw both of the girls ahead of him to their surprise. They entered the barrier and it formed just as Lucas was about to reach it.

"Oh no he's going to crash into the barrier!" Olivia said with wide eyes.

"That's not the only problem the fireballs will reach him very soon!" Andvaranaut said in an alarmed tone.

Lucas meanwhile narrowed his eyes and jumped and climbed the barrier two steps before summersaulting into the air as Aslaug, Kriemhild, Olivia, Andvaranaut and the other soldiers watched. As he went down he raised his right leg and gave an axe kick to the ground with full force.

The force from the attack was strong enough to break the earth as large chunks of it was thrown up as the others watched shocked and surprised. Lucas then immediately turned and kicked the chunks of earth at the fireballs that would hit the ground in five seconds.

The Earth met fire as it exploded and took out a few fireballs but the rest were still falling as the other grew worried and feared for his life.

'I know he said he wants to keep his ability to use magic a secret but this isn't the time for that!' Kriemhild thought to herself as she watched with wide eyes.

'Damn it mortal, don't you dare die! Not until I utterly defeat you!' Aslaug thought to herself as she grit her teeth with a displeased look under her helmet.

'That was certainly an impressive strategy but he can't block them all. If he doesn't escape it he'll be burned alive!' Olivia thought to herself with wide eyes.

'If he were to die like this... then how will I face you Gustav.' Andvaranaut thought to himself as he gripped his spear more tightly.

Not a moment later the fireballs hit the ground and the sounds of explosions were heard by the soldiers as they were protected by the barrier as the place was razed. Kriemhild and Aslaug were worried for Lucas since he is the reason that they were able to get to safety before the barrier formed.

Olivia was sad that her country might have lost one of its valuable warriors and one of the few genuine martial artists in the kingdom. As for Andvaranaut he is said as the one who dies here is his friends student and as the commander it is his duty to make sure his troops are fine. Not to mention it's his friends apprentice as well.

As they were thinking that the smoke dissipated to show charred and broken land as the girls and the soldiers looked for any signs of Lucas but found none. As they were losing hope some of the earth started to lift up until it was sent flying surprising those who saw it.

Then to the delight of many Lucas jumped from the hole which was revealed as he dusted himself off before he smirked.

'Good think I jumped into that hole before the attacks reached here otherwise I would've had to use my magic.' Lucas thought to himself as he twirled his sword.

"Lord Larsen!" A soldier called out happily.

Soon the rest of the soldiers also called out his name with happiness as he smirked at the support he is currently being shown as he looked at the enemy soldiers which were advancing towards them as he prepared to fight.
