Chapter 31

Lucas is currently on his way back to his territory. After winning the war and gaining the favour of the royal family due to his contribution in the war he is in a good position. He also gained a new servant in the form of Kriemhild who is a preet strong warrior woman. Adding to the fact that he also has Aslaug with him he has quite powerful warriors.

Add to the fact that he has his wyvern Falkor and his magic he is quite formidable. Though he isn't going to be arrogant about it as he knew that being arrogant would only lead to his downfall as it would cause him to misjudge his enemies and he might underestimate them. He would always make sure to keep a level head and try to make sure that he doesn't become arrogant.

He is currently riding on top of Falkor as he is following the wagon in which Aslaug and Kriemhild were traveling to his territory. Seeing that he had introduced them to the princess and the army he had to make sure that there won't be any inconsistencies between the story he had told them.

His father had been stationed on the left side of the army so he would take more time to get back. But he had received a letter which showed that he had survived the war and was on his way back. He rubbed Falkor's head as the wyvern gave a friendly growl in return as he smiled at it.

He looked at the inside of the wagon where Kriemhild and Aslaug were sitting. Kriemhild was sleeping while Aslaug is still in her armour, as she didn't want anyone to know about her face. He didn't ask her why and since she didn't want to do it he didn't press her for it.

Soon they reached his territory where the people were at first shocked and scared at the arrival of a dragon. But it soon went away when they saw Lucas sitting on the wyvern and riding it. He waved at them from his place as the people were overjoyed and many came out of their house and yelled congratulations to him for winning the war.

Obviously the victory of their kingdom of Norway against the kingdom of Sweden had reached the kingdom and the people are overjoyed at the fact that he was a part of the war and has come back after winning it. This also caused his popularity to rise amongst the people again as he smiled at them all and waved.

"All hail Lord Lucas! All Hail Lord Lucas!" The men shouted it for a few more times as they celebrated for his victory.

Lucas just gave a charming smile and waved at them. Many girls swooned over his smile and considering his handsome face and popularity almost all of the girls were attracted to him. He smiled at his popularity before as he made sure to guide Falkor through calmly.

Kriemhild meanwhile had awoken due to the commotion caused by the people as she looked around and at the people in confusion before she looked at Aslaug.

"Um, have we reached his territory?" Kriemhild asked Aslaug nervously.

"Yes we have. It looks like he is quite loved by the people." Aslaug said as she looked at the assembled people.

"Yes it does. And it seems that he is quite the charmer as well." Kriemhild said as she saw the girls swooning over him.

"I can see that. So, what did he do that made you join this side?" Aslaug asked her with an intrigued tone.

"What do you mean?" Kriemhild asked as she was surprised by her question.

"I heard the conversation you had with that soldier from the enemy army. So I am curious." Aslaug said to her as she crossed her arms as her armor clanked with each of its parts.

Kriemhild looked at her shocked when she heard that as she didn't think that someone would have been able to hear their conversation in the middle of battle.

"He discovered my group which were going to ambush the army. He slaughtered the ones in my group and then asked me if I wanted to serve him. I didn't see any reason to deny his offer and so I agreed to it and became his subordinate." Kriemhild said to her with a serious face and tone.

"I see. That guy truly is quite interesting." Aslaug said as she chuckled.

"And who are you? I know that your name is Aslaug but why are you serving him?" Kriemhild asked her curiously.

"I had lost a battle against him and so I am now serving him. He tricked me into making a deal while he used an oath spell. If I wish to have my freedom back then I would have to defeat him in battle." Aslaug said to her as she grumbled in remembrance of the fight.

"I... I see. But... why are you still in your armor. I would like to see your face at the very least." Kriemhild asked her curiously.

"It is because I don't want any of the common people recognising me. If they only see me in my armor then I will be more free to walk without this." Aslaug said as she gestured to her armor.

"I see. It would grant you more freedom if they only see you as an unfamiliar woman. But, can I see your face at the very least?" Kriemhild asked her curiously.

"When we are alone then I will give you the honour of gazing upon me." Aslaug said in a haughty tone.

'Well, she certainly seems to be interesting.' Kriemhild thought to herself as she looked at the girl.

She then looked at Lucas as he was waving at the people with a smile as they were singing his praises as he seemed to be enjoying them as she smiled a bit. She looked at her hands and gripped them as she remembered his fighting abilities.

'One day. I will become strong enough to match him.' Kriemhild thought to herself with determination.
